Don't cut the tab. He put the adhesive strip on upside down. It is designed to hide the pull-tab. When you want to remove, PUSH UP ON THE WHITE HOOK AND IT WILL SEPARATE FROM THE CLEAR PLASTIC WALL ANCHOR. Then you can pull on the tab and remove the anchor without damage. Practice separating the two pieces before you install to get the hang of it.

@@rayvvenn - the tab on the sticky part is upside down. The pull tab is supposed to go near the bottom of the hook so you don’t see the tab. He (the guy in the video) put the tab at the top of the hook and it was showing. There’s nothing wrong with doing it his way, but don’t cut the tab.

Thank you for explaining a sensible way to use these. By applying the blue side to the hook first, removing the black 'wall' side strip is easier. Command instructs one to remove the black liner first and attach it to the wall. Removing the black liner from its adhesive is ridiculously challenging (at least for me). The process described in this video is fast and easy to follow.

What blue side? I have a package right here and it says to do the red command side first, then remove the black side and attach to the wall. He put the tab on upside down so the pull tab was sticking out the top, but I don't see anything blue here?

Nice enough presentation, however this gentleman put the strip on the hook upside down and left out two steps. Command package instructions say to 1. press firmly for 30 seconds and 2. wait, leaving it to "cure" for ONE hour before hanging anything on it. The "tab" part of the strip should go to the bottom of the hook. You don't have to cut it. The Command hook is designed to hide the tab. To remove, you slide of the front of the hook up off of the back thus exposing the tab. Pull DOWN slowly and completely (never pull away from the wall) and the adhesive sticking to the wall will release. No damage. Hope this helps.

I've been using these since they were introduced in the 90s. They were made better then and would hold for more than 10 yrs on average. 3M is making them with less quality now and they tend to fall off in warm weather within a year. I guess they have to make even more profit by people buying them more frequently. Still, they have no equal for versatility.

Ripped off a huge chunk of wall larger than the command strip itself had two up so I went to remove the one that hadn’t fallen and the strip itself ripped as I pulled down now it’s just stuck. No way to grab it

It helps to clean wall with some alcohol, let it airdry, and then install the strip with hook. Wait for about 1 hour before you load it with weight.

Should this work on the plastic in a van? My hook wouldn’t stick to the plastic that forms the glove compartment.

Hi There, Command strips are not recommended for auto applications, a few reasons are: • Command strips are meant for flat surfaces, dashboards/glove compartments usually have a slight curve • Command strips are not meant for use on plastic • Dashboards usually are exposed to extreme heat which is not recommended for Command strips Hope this helps!

Rubbing alcohol usually comes in 70% or 90%. Either will do. I find that 70% is plenty.

Hi Lou. You skipped one step that is listed in the product instructions (on cover of package). This is the step after you remove the black liner and press to wall for 10 seconds. It reads to slide the hook up and off and then to press the base firmly for 30 seconds. And only then to slide the hook back on. And also they say to wait 1 hour before use. I guess to allow the adhesive to dry and hold strong.

Hi Greg, Each command strip can hold different weight. It's best to look at the package. The one we used in this video holds up to 5 lbs. Hope that helps!

This video got a couple things wrong. #1, he applied the strip upside down ... do it with tab on the bottom to obscure the removal tab and then when you slide the hook over the backing plate, it won't be as noticeable, #2 after placing the strip on the wall, carefully remove the hook from the backing plate and press it firmly against the surface for at least a minute and #3 ALWAYS clean the surface you are applying the hook to with 90+% rubbing alcohol to clean it and let it dry before adhering - and apply a small drop to the area first to make sure it wont remove or discolor your paint - if you do not do this you will inevitably experience the hook ripping off the wall (likely with some of your drywall) at some point. This is a great product, but it will not hold any amount of weight for you unless you do these things.

Yes, you can certainly use the hooks for a hat display. Just double check the weight capacity of the hook to ensure the weight of the hat won't take it down.

Please read the instructions. His advice is wrong according to the instructions on the packaging. First, you should prep the area with rubbing alcohol. The tab on the strip should be facing down, not up. When you attach to the prepped surface, you should press down for 10 seconds, then remove the hook and press the remaining plastic strip to the surface for 30 seconds. Then you should wait an hour before use. When you want to remove, pull the downward facing tab, down to release the adhesive. Please read the instructions, because his advice is not the same as what is printed.
