I sent out sets of counting pins with some of my xmas cards. I then noticed that most of my friends did not really know what to use them for unless they had a pincushion and used them as decoration. So I was planing on doing a short tutorial, with the information you just showed us. 👍🏻 Fun to see that you put in the same information I would have done. 😊 Happy Stitching 💙

Thanks for this tutorial. I kind of figured this is what counting pins are used for, but it helped to see it and hear that you insert the pin in the lower leg of where the stitch will go.

Thank you for this tutorial. Do you have a floss tube in which you talk about your hoop stand?
@mischievousstitches4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, no. I have talked about my table clamp hoop, but not that one that you see here. However, your question gave me an idea for next week. ❤️

The light still works and is great for stitch gatherings, but for the everyday stitching light, I prefer my long neck OTT Light.

To me it's the perfect travel size light. The question is does it fold flat? Or close to being flat? Thank you for showing us how to use counting pins. I use my sewing pins like you do for the everyday counts. I would love to know what kind of stand you are using and how do you like it.
@mischievousstitches4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris! Unfortunately, the light does not fold away flat when it is assembled. However, you could always remove the base for packing. That would enable it to lay flat. The stand is an Artisan Design frame. I have had it for several years. I use it when stitching at my dining room table. I do like it, but can only use it for small to medium sized projects. I plan to do a video on my stands this coming week.

Nice tutorial, I'd never thought about using pins to grid. On the lamp do you feel the goose neck has enough length to be positioned over your work? I have a lamp that sits at the side of my chair but its just short for reaching where it would be most helpful. I'll check out on line but I'm interested on your take. Thanks.
@mischievousstitches4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mari! The neck of the lamp is a little over 14 inches long. You would not be able to use the magnifier from a side table. It would work best on a tabletop. I use my lamp on a foldable wooden TV tray. The tray/lamp is at my feet as I sit on the couch to stitch, and I bend the magnifier over my work as needed with no worries.

@@mischievousstitches I have two places that I stitch, one the lamp is from the side and one is in front of me. The one in front of me is very old so I'm going to have to replace it soon. Your review was good, gave me real Information from a stitcher. I can't tell you how many times I've been disappointed buying from the internet on lamps. Thanks!

Hi Lori thank you for your tutorials they’re always so helpful. I have a question for you about your chart I know it’s a black bird design and I have been looking for it can you tell me where I might be able to find it?

I love counting pins, but seem to stick myself with the ones I have to grid. I use Pinmoors, from my quilting toys, to protect my hands.

Until your post, I hadn’t heard of pinmoors. I had to google them. It looks like they are great for protecting your hands.

@@mischievousstitches pricey if you don't have them on hand, unless you can get some folks together to split a pack. Alternatives quilters use: cut up flip flops from the $ store or ear plugs!
