Cynar is phenomenal. Had covid a few weeks ago and when I was getting my taste and smell back Cynar was about the only thing I could taste initially and I drank a ton of it. It was a total lifesaver lol

When I got the Covid alpha in December 2020 I lost my sense of smell for a good 3-4 months afterwards. Similar to your experience, it changed my drink preferences. I stopped drinking IPAs altogether and drank a lot more malty beers since I couldn't appreciate the hop aromas.

Great timing, I just bought a bottle of Cynar but I can’t say I’m a huge fan. It’s not as bad as Fernet Branca (which tastes the way my canker sore medicine used to taste) but there’s kind of a funk to the bitterness that I’m not loving. Hopefully I’ll find a good way to use it!

Bitter guissepe is one of my top 5s. It really allows the cynar to shine. I always measure any bitters though (especially orange), rather than risking my inconsistent dashing. Strangely, Too Soon is one of the last drinks I would ever think of having. I find orange in cocktails so overpowering no matter how little is used. I can tell the flavours harmonise nicely in this drink, but the cynar is so overpowered that it feels a waste to me.
