yeah but what is the water part? That 3:1 gum to oil ratio but what is the water? water-gum-oil 6:3:1 ? Also what is the achieved essential oil percentage when mixed with water? Because it def. not 20% in the whole mix.

Hi, Does it matter what order you mix the ingredients? I thought you had to mix the essential oil with the solubilised first and then add a bit of water to make sure the mixture is clear, then add the rest of the ingredients? Can I ask why the water has to be heated? Is this necessary? Thank you!

if you want to use another recipe for another product, can you just mix the essential oil with the gum? and then the liquid? in glycerine for example for a face gel with a little essential oil (with Xantham gun), glycerine with Xantham, Acacia and Glycerine + essential oil, then mix with hydrosol (no need to heat?) would that work?

That is on our docket. We do a lot of testing and natural preservatives are very dependent on the rest of the formula. I wish there was a “one size fits all” natural preservative option, but we have yet to find one.

It actually lasted months. I didn’t keep it around longer than about 7 months and that entire time it stayed. The key to color retention is more in the pH.

glass is preferable although there are plenty of PET plastics that can hold up to the essential oils in a perfume spray
