Great video, thank you Joli. I’ve been wanting to try both Seen and Loma products after your recommendations on your website and in videos. Now with knowing the two serums you mention from them are good for second, third etc. day styling, I will definitely try them. One question I have is, if I’ve applied heat protection and then blow dry, do I need to add more heat protection if using a curling or flat iron to style, on the same wash day?

@@sabrinagoldberg13 thank you. I am so glad you found this helpful. If it is washday and you have applied your heat protectant before blow drying, you don’t necessarily need more for going onto the next step with a heat tool. But remember the issue of coating all your hair is difficult so this is where you could layer heat protectant and start with a blow out creme for blow drying, and move to the serum before the hot tool. It’s going to boil down to your results and how your hair feels, so experiment.

@ thank you, I’ve been doing both, so I will continue that. I don’t go higher than 280 degrees with my heat tool. After applying the heat protection, how long do you recommend waiting for it to dry before curling or straightening?

@ that’s really great, you’re in a very safe zone, as far as heat is concerned.

Thank you for this video. How do we layer heat protection when using a product for volumizing and another one to cover the yellow? My gray has grown out to past my ears and my ends are colored blond. I use Xmondo Super Nova leave in purple foam to cover the old blond and my virgin roots because it helps to blend out the line of demarcation and gives lots of shine. It rinses out with each shampoo. I have the heat protection creams from Seen and Kenra. I use your clay mask periodically with the Malibu C clarifying shampoo or conditioner as well, to keep the roots looking good, too. If my hair needs a shine boost between shampoo days, I'll use your hair oil. Thanks so much!

@@rebeccabb5914 that’s a great question, I would try the foam under the heat protectant. Or I’d switch to a purple conditioner for toning, Loma makes a great one and it might last a little longer than one wash. Ideally the less you have coating your hair below the heat protection, the less chance you have of discoloring product onto your hair. If that makes sense. Be careful with Malibu C products, the only one I feel safe recommending for natural silver hair is Undo Goo. Especially, if you use heat after use. Thank you for your business. 🌟💎 Shine On! 💎🌟

Such good info! I have the Malibu C Undo Goo and also the Hard Water Wellness. For purple shampoo and conditioner I use GemLites in Flawless Diamond. I never thought these color products could be hurting my hair with a heat tool, so this is a revelation. Without these products my old hair color looks awful, a dingy yellow. So far, my roots are not yellow, they are a combination of white and champagne gray on the top and front, with much darker in the back. At least I hope that is a natural color! This whole process of growing out my hair has been challenging. My vanity has really taken a hit having multi- toned hair! And I have at least another year to go. Take care.

@@rebeccabb5914 depending on the product and the settings on your heat tool you can burn the product causing it to discolor. Sometimes this can be fixed with a clarifying treatment like my clay mask. If it is the crystals from Malibu C and they discolor your hair with heat it is permanent. So avoid the crystals/packets, especially. I have a video on the channel if you want to learn more about that. Good luck, it’s a journey but well worth it and good for you learning how what to do to keep your natural color at its best. Oh, and yes darker hair at your nape is completely normal that’s usually the very last of your hair to turn white.

Your video testing heat protection was exceptional. Until then, I always used my hot tools on the highest setting, usually with no protection. So I know about the permanent yellow damage because I have it! It finally made sense why my natural hair never seemed to grow past my ears because I used my curling wand from my ears down. My hair dresser was mystified last year when she could not lighten my ends for the gray blending. Live and learn.

@@rebeccabb5914 oh I’m so glad to hear the heat protectant experiment helped you figure this out. It’s amazing how much product is out there for hair but little to no education on how to use the products.

I shower at night and use the Loma Nourishing oil before blow drying with my Dyson. Then in the morning I will using my curling iron on the lowest setting. Do I need to use another heat protectant before curling or is the Loma oil applied the night before still protecting me? I only use the curling iron once or twice a week. I don’t want to do anything to yellow my silver. Thank you!

Ideally, you want to apply protection before heat. When you use heat and then sleep on your hair, you have deteriorated with the use of heat and rubbed off on your pillowcase some of that protection. Best to apply directly before use of heat.

@@karenpreavy3386 you’re welcome. The Loma Nourishing oil can be used in dry hair and works really well that way. I have never used it one wet hair.

Great video! I always get paranoid when I diffuse 😆 btw, have you checked out the new grey hair products from Ecoslay? The styler is amazing and hasn't caused me any flash drying like the OM.

I have not checked out the new line form EcoSlay, I’ve never tried the products because they are flax based and my hair just doesn’t get along with flax. But I’ll go look at them. She’s referenced my blog on her website, a friend sent me the page. I meant to look at all her product then and forgot about it. I’m glad you found the video helpful. 😊
