Ho-oh will pair nicely with Miraidon I believe in double restricted. Regenerator and being immune to ground on the volt switch will be great synergy. Also being able to hit the grass types that can be trouble for Miraidon to hit outside of Draco

You don't need attack investment on ho-oh. It needs to be used to burn targets and be a major annoyance. It can also do major damage to amoongus. Focus on bulk and recovery and it'll be decent

I dont see the point in running Ho Oh if that's what you are getting. Spreading burn is ok but can be done by other mons (Entei, WoW Incin) and just being tanky and spreading burn is not enough from the single restricted imo. Also it doesn't really get any good utility moves besides Tailwind, and being a Fire Type makes Incin a bit redundant on the defensive side (Urshifu and Kyogre will be a pain). If the scenario is: "im forced to run Ho Oh because i lost a bet" making it bulky is probably the best way to go about it, but if it's not and you can't get a bit of offensive pressure out of the piece might as well run literally anything else xD

@@theduelist92 ho oh isn't gonna win a regionals. And because it doesn't have pivoting moves like u turn that's the main reason it's held back. But I agree with you. Ho oh is more of a fun set to run while you're playing around

@@rodjilius I’m definitely trying to make Ho-Oh viable atm though with a complete off meta team but we will see how it works since I’m new to Pokémon PvP for the most part

I think mainly playing ho-oh with grimsnarl is a good start. going to mainly calc around reflect and light screens.

Special bulky ho-oh with Tera grass, moves recover, heat wave, giga drain, and air slash. Ignore it's attack stat. You can swap recover for protect if you need it. Can run pressure. Pair with a nuzzle or thunder wave user and fish for flinch chances. Run citrus, lefties, or defense berry. Pressure ability is fine.

I think ho-oh's problem is that regenerator (as much as it is a good ability) is not as impactful and doesn't really want to run pivot moves. Miraidon one shots incin with its pivot move, and lugia actually capitalizes on its ability by allowing it to set up (imo making it better). Also can u do a vid on lugia? I think chance hinds has a pretty good team.

I’ve been running 2 sets on ho-oh both Tera grass and adamant nature. Been liking tailwind on it but gonna try protect instead. 252 HP 76 Atk 148 Def 4 SpD 28 Spe 244 HP 76 Atk 44 Def 12 SpD 132 Spe

I love Ho-Oh but you are a Tera sink because Chien-Pao, and Miraidon, and Raging Bolt, and Caly Ice OHKOs you without it.

You could opt for more defensive investment to survive an Ivy Cudgel from Ogerpon Wellspring.

I thought Ho-oH was insanely good in Series 12 SwSh. It was literally the perfect Zacian counter. But my opinion is still the same now: not worth it in single restricted but i will def be trying in double restricted

I believe ho-oh is actually not bad rn, he can hit zamacenta with sacred or brave bird even if he teras to grass, he can burn caly ice and also hit him with brave bird if he is tera grass and he eats terapagos hits for breakfast, he needs to worry about miraidon and kyogre but i feel like he could work in the actual meta

Yeh i just think it’s just a little weird to take your 1 restricted slot on him. Maybe in a double restricted I will have more faith in it

STOP THIS hes good. im gonna take over the video now... ahem... hey guys sableye vgc here back with ho oh. this things decent. good buffs with the clear amulet so you cant be intimidated nor burnt because youre a fire type so NO DAMAGE MIDIGATION on this piece. ahem right so you just spam sacred fires, you can pair this with like coaching hitmontop to patch that defense and you get wide guard, you can run grimmsnarl with screens; i like misty terrain as a tech move you beat the miraidon now. glimmora is nice with ho oh grimmsnarl aswell, punishes people switching out if you have spikes up and you can help beat caly i and peli as long as youre careful. i think standard ho oh pairs guys, rillaboom, ting lu, bolt. this helps patch that bad matchup into kyogre and miraidon. you could do tyranitar excadrill to get rid of rain from kyogre and ev to live water spout on ttar, and excadrill can take out miraidon. you can do sash flutter mane plus prankster sun and speed control for more damage. many many pairing options be creative but you have to beat the bad matchups. you have many options as a set with this piece though. brave bird sacred fire are staples, you like recover, you can protect or tailwind as a last slot. good tech moves: substitute helps you punish passive play, fire spin traps things in that dont hit oh oh, helping hand is ok too i guess. this pokemon is enabled by its partners, its the reason why its a good piece. you do need a calyrex ice and pelipper check but this is ho ohs partners job. you can spam sacred on caly i if its not tera fire to try and midigate the damage, or knock it off and intimidate cycle with incin. anyways 156 adamant is the way to go however you roll to kill gus which is unfortunate but thats why tera grass is the best tera for it. alright guys thanks for watching my video, please subscribe, sableye vgc OUT!
