Hi, can you help me out here regarding the pillar page. How do you create a 2000 word long form conent and not touch the subject the cluster pages has? Is the cluster page a indepth article about the sub topic and is the subtopic mentioned on the pillar page?
@HubSpotHacks4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gabriel - good question. Pillar content is the 'ultimate source of truth" for that particular keyword phrase. So it's very comprehensive and covers the topic at length. However, the subtopics go much deeper on a specific topic inside of content cluster. Example - Pillar Page How to Launch Your Own Yoga Studio Content Cluster (subtopic articles): Yoga scheduling software for smart yogis The 10 Best Yoga Mats for Your Yoga studio Class Format ideas for yoga studios Tips for running the best yoga studio in your city Obviously I didn't do keyword research about this, but you get the idea. :) Hope that helps - feel free to comment again if not!

@@HubSpotHacks do each of the cluster pages need to link back to the pillar page or can cluster simply link to other cluster pages?
@JonPorreca4 жыл бұрын
So with a pillar page and at minimum 8 sub-topic or cluster pages, one would need 9 pieces of content. Assuming you are starting fresh, which content pieces do you write first? The pillar page? Then link each topic cluster page has written? Likewise, if applicable, do you ever link a sub-topic or cluster page to another cluster page? Thanks, great info!

Hey Jon - we usually start with a pillar page, but that can be a big piece of content to take on. Either way, you want your pillar and cluster to be planned out first. Sometimes people like writing a few of the cluster posts firsts so they get some momentum under their belt before diving into a 2,000-3,000 word pillar page. Either way, you'll need to make sure to link the pages together so they can pass authority to each other. Good luck!

Great Video. Iam a Hubspot CRM user. Never thought of exploring content ideas through the cluster tool. How to do keyword research for local seo on cluster creation? How should be the structure of pillar topic and subtopics?
@HubSpotHacks5 жыл бұрын
Local SEO is a bit more tricky - but can still be approached this way. The pillar page may be something like "Best Pizza in New York City" and then the clusters may be things like "Deep Dish Pizza Favorites in NYC" and "Tourist's Top Choices for Thin Crust Pizza in NYC" Keyword research like this would need to be done in a tool like Ahrefs or SEMRush. Local SEO also depends heavily on citations and local listings, and you may consider a tool like Moz Local or Yext to manage that. Here's a resource from Moz that may be helpful for you: moz.com/learn/seo/local-seo-digital-marketing-landscape

Nowadays it's mandatory to use a few SEO tools to improve rankings because competition increases day by day.

Agree - SEO is a constant monitoring and tweaking game. We like this tool for the strategy and planning component and seeing how the content links together inside the HubSpot platform, but still use ahrefs and SEMRush as well. What are your favorite tools for SEO?

@@HubSpotHacks I'm biased as I'm the owner, but I use tools on GetSEOfix.com with particular interest in log analysis, because almost none talks about the importance to check how Google behaves during a website crawl.
