Here's a tutorial on how to use and restring your acoustic guitar with locking tuners.
In this example, I'm using the D'Addario Auto Trim Locking tuners on my Takamine G Series acoustic guitar.
Once you use these you'll want to put them on all of your guitars, both acoustics and electrics!
As you would expect, I also let you hear some acoustic sounds at the end!
Keep it Metal,
Jason

Firstly, I love locking tuners. Rarely have to fuss worth my G. One of the best upgrades for a guitar. Secondly, I would love to have more acoustic content from you. You teach in simple terms, and that is priceless. Not to mention, most of my favorite metal tunes start with an acoustic intro. Good work, Brother.

It's always good to stop and pull up on the strings a bit intermittently while tuning up to pitch. This will give them a good stretch and help to break them in. This applies to all tuners not just locking.

Hi Jason, I used to let my locking tuners have a little space to wind around, but from pulling them all the way up they tend to lock better and stay in tune better. I mostly use my guitars with locking tuners for recording, as it is a necessity to stay in tune when you quad track metal guitars.
@jasonstallworth
@jasonstallworth 2 жыл бұрын
That's true...the more guitar tracks you have, those things better be holding their tune! And yes, they do tend to stay in tune better having that bit of space to wind around. My acoustic rarely goes out of tune.

Dude, I'd love to put something out there on fingerstyle! It's such a cool method and it's a great way to break things up on stage, especially when you're playing solo acoustic gigs. I was actually going to put a poll out there to see if my subs are okay with me adding more acoustic and lighter stuff in general, or if I should create a separate channel for that.
@VafaMottahedin
@VafaMottahedin 2 жыл бұрын
@@jasonstallworth Oh cool well I will be on the lookout for the poll and I'll vote 'yes' if you put it out! 😃Unrelated question, do you ever use GuitarPro for composing music or making tabs? I know a lot of guitarists do that, but I have never really learned GuitarPro and I'm just curious to know your thoughts.
@jasonstallworth
@jasonstallworth 2 жыл бұрын
@@VafaMottahedin Dude, I bought Guitar Pro but don't really know what I'm doing with it! lol I really should learn it. I bought it mainly to produce tabs for my course. I ended up paying someone on Fiver to do that part. The software still comes in useful because I can put the completed version in the software and make changes.

Please help me bro I have these exact same tuners, same brand, except they're on an electric. And they keep snapping the string before I can tune it to pitch!! I've broken a stupid amount of strings ... I'm not winding it around the peg at all ... they just break before they get to pitch. I wish I could go back to non-locking at this point. Do you have any tips?? I did email the brand and while they're sending me a couple packs of strings which is cool they also didn't really help that much either.

In your case, I'd recommend taking it to your local guitar shop and have a pro fix it. I had these tuners installed by a local shop.

Elixir strings are my favourite. I have a decent sized guitar collection and they don't all get a lot of regular use. Over time uncoated strings go dull even before they're worn out. With the coated Elixir strings this isn't really an issue. They stay bright for months. I go about a half win do with locking tuners but I've known some guitar techs cut them with no excess string at all.
