Problem your not explaining your keyboard command shortcuts. When you added a node it just appeared out of thin air like magic, leaving dudes like me scratching their head "How did he do that" end of lesson I can't go any further. Explain keystrokes please.

why you apply the LUT before the colour space transform node? If the LUT is based on Cineon Film Log, it should applied after the colour space transform.

How did you find out that you had to CST to Cineon Film Log for that LUT? How do you know what color space/gamma to transform to for any LUT?

I just stumbled upon that information. There aren’t a lot of luts for cineon log, that’s why if you found them online without an addition instruction, they are for rec 709

So when adding a lut the video should be in a log (grey) before hand ?

Depends on what kind of lut you have. For some the image needs to be transformed to cineon log(grey one) before applying a lut. Others are designed for rec709 image (a contrasty one)

I did this with sony sony slog 2 footage.. adding the cst node, selecting selecting sony sgmaut and slog 2 for trhe inputs and output gammut cineon log, i added a node befored that and put the lut on it and it looks terrible, its extremely contrasty.

There are a variety of videos on this platform about how to apply the built in luts however a lot of people who are migrating from other NLE have luts that they would also like to use. Where are the videos on how to properly use those luts in davinci resolve, do a tutorial on that.

The principle is not going to change. If you know the colorspace then use colorspace transform. If you do not, then simply use your lut on one of the nodes and then tweak the intensity.

If you decide to change something or delete entirely, one node approach is going to cause a lot of problems.

your pipeline is totally wrong, u r not supposed to apply the lut before the cst node.
