Some good tips, you are underestimating sidewinder heavily though as when you do the hold square to do the spin. You can combo with it using sidewinder which pull the enemies up into the air if they can be and then slam them into the ground for extra damage/high stagger gain and this can be done as soon as you get him. Also the fact it is really good against Aerial enemies too, sentinel stance is fantastic too but it requires a little more advanced play to use effectively.

Good idea about equipping the vitality up materia to him. I got it and wasn't thinking of using it.
