I love this instrument. My newer projects are using only this instrument. With a subtract or for base but mainly this instrument. I was inspired by the digitakt to make entire tracks with only redrum

That's a cool idea!

Quite informative! I still use it to this day, especially the Gate In/Out connections to trigger a whole range of different things.
@StockMusicMusician3 жыл бұрын
The gates are great, especially with a Spider splitter. Trigger 3 things with one hit!

My go to drum machine since Reason 3 (2005ish). Making patterns is so fun and easy, now I use it to trigger Battery 4 via the TM-1 Trigger Multiplexer rack extension.
@StockMusicMusician3 жыл бұрын
I'll have to check out the TM-1. I use Battery on a lot of my productions.

@@StockMusicMusician you won't regret it! I now mix all percussion in battery and have only 2 channels now in the Reason mixer, the kick and perc bus. (compared to up to 16 or so for every track out of Redrum(s). It is money well spent in my humble opinion!
@alexmh61313 жыл бұрын
I always use multiple redrums for individual samples, since this way you have a dedicated EQ for each sample. Ofcourse you can bus them all together and do a final EQ on the overall beat aswell.
@grenambrose74923 жыл бұрын
Hi, you can route on instance of redrum through a mixer channel per sample.

Awesome, thanks man! Just going back to those classic Reason instruments... Very inspirational! Cheers!

808 kick on channels 6 and 7 with the pitch bend for 808 slides?
@StockMusicMusician3 жыл бұрын
It’s ok, but you don’t have great pitch control. Grain is better for manipulating sample pitch without changing the timing

Tip : SHIFT-click to do a hard hit ALT-click to get a soft hit Click for a normal hit This saves you from having to select the Dynamic switch every time.

Thank you for this! For some reason, after I copy pattern from track and turn off Enable Pattern Section to just play from the Main Sequencer, my beat sounds completely different. When it plays straight from the sequencer, the length and decay settings I applied sound like they aren't applied. It sounds a lot dryer than when I play it straight from Redrum - the notes don't decay like they should. I have Audiomatic applied to it, and see it working when just playing from the main Sequencer like it is when played from Redrum. I don't see any obvious differences. Any advice is appreciated!
@StockMusicMusician Жыл бұрын
All it should be doing is using the copied pattern to trigger the programmed sequence, so all of the ReDrum settings should still be being triggered by the notes in the sequencer. Not sure what would cause this.

Mine also does this

Thanks for this and all your videos! Could you do a quick tutorial on using Redrum in Reason Rack? There is no sequencer in the rack plugin, so the patterns or notes have to be sequenced in the host DAW. I use Cakewalk and no matter how hard II try, I can not work out how to drag the patterns from Redrum into Cakewalk. If you can explain this, it would be much appreciated by me and anyone else that has struggled with this problem. Thanks!
@StockMusicMusician3 жыл бұрын
I've got a video on how to do this using Logic, but I think it probably applies to other DAWs too. Not sure since I don't have cakewalk, but worth checking out.

How do I get the crash cymbal to sustain in ReDrum?
@StockMusicMusician3 жыл бұрын
There’s not a lot of flexibility in redr for that. For crashes, I usually drop the wave form directly into the sequencer and time stretch. I’ve got a video on it you can search for

Is the ReDrum still on reason 11 and 12? Because I thought they replaced it?

It would be awesome if reason actually built this from a fire program but this would rival a lot of drum machines it’s more on the line of a Sp 1200 or THOR synth hardware would be so dope I hated back in the day people would create these renderings of the malstrom as a piece of hardware then I found it was a DAW but I was coming off years of a ensoniq EPS workstation. This was my ❤ workstations were all the rage back in the 90s so I hadn’t had a lot of time on programs then I was smitten with Reason I still rarely use it for months until actually using it in my workflow but now it’s my go to DAW still like FL STUDIO but not as they exist today I still use fL5 😅very old but I’m most prolific on Reason 5 😊

Great information in this video, but it is pronounced Red(like the color)Rum(like the drink). If you don't believe me ask Mattias at Reason.

I said to my son I said "who makes a device that when you hit record, doesn't record anything? Who???" (he replied Jeffrey Jefferson does. That's who we're blaming for everything nowadays. No clue if there is one in the world, sorry if there is. Lotta blame coming your way.) Thank you for Copy Pattern To Track. I never would have figured that out.

Glad it helped. Now hopefully you can stop blaming Jeffrey.
