So few artist demonstrators go beyond just showing the salt technique, into how to deploy it effectively into subjects. In fact, I’d be surprised if many do it at all, apart from as a novelty. Thanks so much. Your fox is very memorable, I give that class a go every few months and hope to one day master it!

Hi, Louise. Once again I'd like to say thanks for you providing such a useful video. (My wife, Viki, is also a subscriber.) These specifically targeted videos absolutely hit the spot. Other painters refer to, in this example, using salt but the detail IS important and a proper examination of the effects achievable and the examples of use in paintings that you have incorporated the technique into are also invaluable. These remarks apply to many of your videos. As have others, I'd also like to say how professionally made your videos are and how important it is to see you work in real time:, not resorting to fast frame in order to shorten the run time.

Louise, did you know that the heavy pigmented colours that granulate work even better with salt? The results are much better than with paints that dont granulate. You can mix your paint colours, but one always has to be a granulating one...especially for backgrounds the sea salt brings amazing results..... .regards Robyn

Thank you so much! I appreciate you taking the time to comment. It's really good to know that my videos are helpful. It's a difficult medium to use when you first start but it's my favourite medium by far. I tried at first and gave up because I found painting in acrylic paint was much easier. I stepped out of my comfort zone a second time and I tried it again and I was determined this second time to not let it beat me. I'm so glad I did. Don't give up!

This is so helpful. I had abandoned using salt because it seldom produced any notable effects. But now I think I was putting it on too soon. I'm going to give it another go. Question: are most of these examples done on cold pressed paper? Do you find any marked difference for salt effects on cold press versus hot press? Thanks for another great video.
