Odd, setting it up exactly like you showed in my Ableton Live 11but there is not a choice for Scaler 2 in the sub chooser window on the receiving track, just PreFX and PostFX. Only Scaler 2 shows in the main chooser window on the receiving MIDI track. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I would check and see if you are using the scaler 2 audio plug-in. There is one called scaler 2 and one called scaler 2 audio. The one labeled scaler 2, should be the midi plugin. The one you’re using might be setup on audio mode?

I did test this last night. The only thing I could think is like I thought. If you open the scaler 2 audio version, it will not send midi. Even if you switch it to midi mode in the plug-in, it won’t show up. So make sure that you open up scaler 2 not scaler2 audio. Also I’m assuming this is the case, but make sure the receiving track is a midi track. Hope this helps!

I'm having the same issue. I am for sure using the Scaler (non audio version), but the 2nd drop down selection only shows Pre and Post FX. No option to choose from Scaler 2. If anyone finds the solution, please share.

Solution found! You must use the VST version of Scaler in order to send the MIDI to another MIDI track. AU plugins will not work for routing this way. Cheers!

Thanks for the follow up! I don’t use AU plugins so I’m glad you were able To find this! So we’ve learned not to use AU plugins or the audio version of the VST!

In the drop down below Midi from my VST is not visible. How do I fix this?

I speculated in this in another comment! Check to see if you opened the audio version of the plug-in. Open the vst called scaler2 not scaler2 audio? I’m gonna test this in the studio later!

Or you can use "Reasons Studio Chord Player" with ANY VST instrument, I use reasons, that is 100 times easier and faster and I can play the chords in real time while recording

Oh that’s pretty cool. For the people interested, where can they get that? I use scaler because it’s great at suggesting chords, which helps me build tracks faster. Does reasons vst suggest chords as well? Or based on how it’s setup, will it just play predetermined chords like triads or 5ths etc? And setting up like this, I can also play/record chords in real time with any other plug-in which is good

No midi " from" in logic so what do i select ? FYI the layout for logic is completely different than the daw you are usng. So not the best thing to say that it is similar in other daws, becsuse its not even close.

look up logic pro tutorials so ur familiar with ur daw.

Not a routing solution, but you can use midi capture in scaler. Then just drag out what you captured onto the track with the VST you want. That said, I’m sure you can route in Logic as well. Most of the official scaler 2 videos are Logic based so I would start there.
