Short adjectives are used to describe in-context features, and long adjectives are used to describe innate natures. That’s why in Russian we do not have short forms for adjectives describing the material of what is something made of. Since once it’s been made, ‘being made of something’ becoming an item’s innate nature. No matter what it looks or seems or feels like to you, it’s always made of what it’s made of. So, in daily usages, long adjectives work in a way that is less expressive but more descriptive, vice versa. So, when we say ‘ты красив.’, it does not really mean you have a nature or even feature of being beautiful, but means, ‘among all other things about you, you/your being beautiful is featured.’ Timing and temporarility have something to do here, but not as primary as subjectivity, relativity and focusedness. When say ‘небо огромно.’, we are not saying ‘the sky is big right now.’ as if it may shrink magically when I am not looking. We are saying one or a combination of at least three things listed below: 1.The sky looks big to me, or, to people in general. (Subjectivity) 2.The sky is relatively big here and now (due to, maybe, we have a better vision here and now). (Relativity) 3.Among all other things about the sky, it/its being big is featured. (Focusedness) But, of course, we can, if we want to, derive a nuance of pure temporarility from the Rule of Relativity!
