When you start off in comfort there is turbo lag. In sport or sport+ there is no turbo lag: very useful when you want to drive into a busy roundabout, for example, and have to be quick off the mark.

I thought if you punch it in Comfort mode it goes into Sport mode temporarily.

In my manual MB, sport mode also rev matches the engine with the gear you have selected before disengaging the clutch. So if you have Neutral and put it into 3rd, it will rev match (let's say it'll go from 800RPM to 3500RPM @ 70 km/h) before actually you're done switching gears, even if you don't put any pressure on the gas. I'm guessing this is to get the optimal amount of torque. Really cheeky and smart.

If you're going to talk about sports mode, you should also talk about Sport+ (Plus) mode and also about the paddle shifters. What would have been even more useful is an example of how to swiftly downshift on the highway for the purpose of quickly accelerating and passing.

We have the c350e hybrid, and I have just recently been playing with Sports+ mode. Feels like a different car altogether. Not sure if performance is actually better, just tighter steering and what seems like an exaggeration of every bump or pebble I drive over.

Really liked the video. Personally, I'd say that quicker throttle response, quicker kickdowns and higher RPM shifting does make the car feel differently, despite not actually being more powerful; let's use the term "alive" - it makes the car feel more alive.

So I just bought a 2020 C-class, and when I have it in Sport+ mode it up shifts perfectly, but when I put my foot on the brake it downshifts pretty hard, NOT EXTREMELY HARD, but just enough to the point where I can feel it

Depends on car. With Mine it does as follows. hardens the suspension Changes throttle response, rev/gear ratio

S is for sports, it keeps your revs up so the turbo is always active thus putting down all the power as soon as you tap the accelerator

I’ve got a 2015 CLA250 Sport, do you know if there’s anyway to put it into manual shifting and have it stay in manual? Because if I click the paddle shifters while driving, the car will go into manual but now stay.

Any idea what the difference is between eco and comfort? Obviously eco will try make the most out of fuel, but why is comfort called comfort ? Does it adjust ride settings, suspension or anything like that ?

In eco the throttle response isn’t as responsive it gives you the power more gradually compared to comfort and when you take your foot off the accelerator in eco-it puts the gearbox in neutral which saves further fuel by coasting... @@omgisweps No, it doesn't. Pops and bangs are only exclusive to the 250 Sport version and are only activated on Sport or Individual mode. The regular 250 has a mid silencer while the 250 Sport doesn't. The 250 Sport also 'farts' upon shifting.

Weps For the pre-facelift it’s the A250 Engineered by AMG that has the shift farts and pops, these have no resonator as stock, as mentioned above, you will only hear the farts and pops in Sport or Manual (paddle shifters) modes, in Eco mode, the shift farts and pops are disabled regardless how hard you drive. There is another variant of the A250 which do not have this feature installed (what exactly, I don’t know, most likely an ECU that is tuned differently).

You don't know S and C modes on the Mercedes in terms of the engine, transmission, and shock absorbers for the comfort mode and the sport mode. Go back and read your owner manual.
