How to Use Taiwan's High Speed Train

This was my first time taking the high speed train in Taiwan and I loved it! I've taken so many trains throughout so many countries that I always kind of know what to expect. Taiwan's high speed train was one of my favorites! It was fast, quiet, clean and most importantly comfortable! If you are traveling around Taiwan and you are tight on time, I would highly suggest taking Taiwan's high speed train! It's not too expensive and it's a lot of fun to ride on! ^^

The doors actually only open for 2 minutes and the train boards passengers for two minutes. The rest of the time the train is at the station (terminal stations only) the cleaning crew come onboard to clean and to flip the seats to go back.

Question. Since you travel a lot, and have to carry lightly, what do you do for entertainment when you are bored while on trains or planes, or even when there is nothing to do while in your room? Do you have a laptop to watch movies and play games, or like a handheld gaming system, ebook reader???

I listen to a lot of music on my phone and I watch some movies/shows on my computer that I downloaded. When I'm connected to wifi, I watch a lot of KZbin haha.

So when you get off the high speed rail and go to the metro do you have to pay separate or is it included in the other fare?

It's all included when you first by your ticket. You just need to scan your ticket in order to exit the station after getting off the train.

@5:28, you need to insert your ticket when you exit the train station because the station needs to calculate how long the distance you travelled to make sure if the paid for the distance you travelled. Same thing you do when you exit a metro bus on some routes (lines) so they can calculate you paid for the distance you travelled.

You didn't get the Express train, it will save you another 30 minutes from Kaohsiung to Taipei (90 minutes in total). Also, many of us prefer people say China, instead of Mainland China. Anyway, welcome to Taiwan. Enjoy your trip and stay here.

Well.........for 28 dollars , how much do you expect to be honest. The comment you gave is 'Chinese style' , what made it so Chinese? You were in Taiwan though. Surely there are plenty of places like this in the world , are they all 'Chinese style'? Perhaps spend a wee bit more money next time to have your 'American style' then.

I'm sorry that you took my comment as negative. I had spent almost two months traveling around China before coming to Taiwan. The colors and the aesthetic lay out of the room was exactly the same as many other hotels I stayed in throughout China.That's why I made that comment. I was also very tired that day from traveling.
