It is on to a 2 weeks journey in the Sling TSi. My first stop is our shop in North Carolina, then I head further north to VA where I will be doing my instrument training.
On this flight, I'm taking off in Atlanta Georgia and flying to Lookup Aviation in Winston Salem NC.
I really wanted to share the awesome performance of the Sling TSi because although many of you watch me fly this plane, but the performance in this thing is quite impressive. I was cruising at 9,500 ft and doing 150+ kts this is all while burning a mere 7.3 gallons of fuel per hour. Needless to say that I covered 258 miles in less than 2 hours.
Hope you enjoy the flight.

Now. . .had you "promoted" kid's headsets or a "Travel John" the video would have gotten more bang for the buck. Breakfast cereal? Well, the milk did him in, didn't it? I missed the "rhythm" I needed for the flight following during the frequency change. Never heard the transponder code. Maybe it's me, but did I understand for the descent, the autopilot was disconnected BEFORE the descent started? I'm curious how for VFR flights the trip was "programmed." Nice perspective.

A plumbingless lav in car config 4 seaters would improve their utility quite a bit. Just a minimal back in deal behind the back 2 seats. For single person use the door could remain open and maybe a mirror screen and good ADS-B could allow the pilot to use it. Could even have a fly by wire joystick in the lav although that might create problems.

@DanFrederiksen

@@papapapalima_scotland actually I own a plane :) I know the pilot is conventionally not supposed to leave the seat but that's from a time where automation and mirror controls wasn't possible. New rules can be made. Progress is possible, contrary to popular belief.
@papapapalima_scotland
@papapapalima_scotland Жыл бұрын
@@DanFrederiksen ok, progress can be made. I agree, but on ga, and minus the newest garmin auto land, this is a big nono and will be on most GA planes for our lifetime probably. In any case, unless you start from autonomous planes, you are there to monitor at the very least. Imo this is the kind of comment that some random will take and implement like the idiots sleeping at the wheel on almost (but not quite) autonomous cars.
@DanFrederiksen
@DanFrederiksen Жыл бұрын
@@papapapalima_scotland hehe an idea isn't bad just because someone can implement it recklessly. Have vision to see it working. With computerized ATC which we should have had 40 years ago it could even be safe flying blind for a few minutes because ATC can avoid any collision. You would have to declare it perhaps. 3 minute fixed flying say. Or the autopilot could acommodate ATC commands. Indeed we could easily have a runway to runway autopilot system with computerized ATC such that a pilot is not even required.

Side note, Lancair IV-P can do close to twice the speed at same cost albeit used and can fly above the weather. And a plane could be significantly better than that still. As fast as it is, it's relatively heavy at a full ton empty. Good engineering could cut that down to 1/4. Which is no small margin.

I have flown R22s, Bell 206's and MD500's.... I wouldn't EVER advise someone flying a Mosquito unless they are a high hour rotocraft pilot. Smaller doesn't make easier. If anything, that makes them more difficult to control in windy conditions.

There probably is a place for a more scientifically based aviation nutrition video. In terms of glucose rushes and crashes, glycemic index might be a useful guide for carb based glucose spikes, but ultimately everyone's body works a bit differently. Any food item that also generates a lot of lipids in the bloodstream probably is also at risk for a little post-eating drowsiness. In terms of urination, I find water is not that bad unless you drink liters of it prior to a flight, but even small amounts coffee or any caffienated beverage will cause a diuretic effect and in-flight urgency. I personally avoid caffeine like the plague because of that effect. I find the stimulant value of caffeine is not so useful compared to simply eating right (or not eating at all) before take off. Very often people use the stimulant effect of the caffeine to counteract the sedative effects of post-prandial lipid and glucose spikes....which frankly is kind of dumb. Again, ultimately what is right will depend on the metabolic characteristics of the individual.
