Since some devices on Bitwig are very hard to understand, i will be breaking them down for you so you can use it with no problems at all. On this occasion we will talk about the vocoder device.

Just to clarify, when I say the reverb is limited, meant to say the interface is hard to use. You need to tweak to get the sound you want. But it can do a lot, specially in the Halls department.

excellent overview as always - and I really liked your last "reverse vocoder" example (synth as modulator; voice as carrier). Gracias!

Thank you for the video! Your explanation of the vocoder device was crystal clear as always! ...but then something went off for me. I tried as you show and it appeared to me very hard to control gain and resonances of the vocals which resulted in clipping, distortion and all sorts of unpleasant things, so after some mangling I came up with another approach. We need: 1 - audio track for vocals/whatever with NO output, 2 - midi track with notes AND vocoder on it. In the Modulator section of the vocoder we place audio receiver which listens to our audio track (pre fader), since we already have notes on the track, the Carrier section contains only a synthesizer (in my case it's polymer). As a result we have a silent audio track which modulates the synthesizer inside the vocoder on a midi track and the whole thing produces much cleaner sound with more precision and control.

5:05 frequency range is not just for filtering, it sets the boundaries of a filter bank, so the remaining space is still divided to set amount of bands, therefore if your range is small, each band is going to be more narrow as well. and volume sliders are more meant to Gate low level signal and limit the highest.

yes, you explained it better than me. Sometimes is very hard to explain everything in detail but try to keep the video under 15 minutes or make it in 5 because people don't watch long videos. Tried my best I guess.

@@XNBeatsMusic yeah, for shorter explanation it works fine. Actually taking advantage of bands narrowing would have to be separate in-depth video, along with what could be achieved with audiorate modulation of vocoder parameters and stuff like that

@@x-iso yeah, but you know what. It doesn't work, at least on KZbin. Longer videos, technical videos are for a few, nerds like you and maybe me. So when the video has a low click rate and short view average duration, KZbin doesn't even bother in showing or suggesting the video. So....what ? I am going to create a video, 40 minutes long about a geeky subject that 30 people are going to watch. Longer videos, in detail videos, works if you already have an audience. This channel doesn't even have 1.000. Maybe, in the future if this thing grows and I can talk about whatever the F I want, sure, lets get geeky. I'll even bring some people ( crazy genius engineers ) to talk about voltage, they would love to do that and have someone listening to their geekiness. But creating an audience is the first step and it takes a while. This is not my first channel, I have that dumb BUTTON you get for reaching 100.000 ( the channel died because of copyright, it was in Spanish for Latin America ). People get crazy for that Button, like I can go to the market and flash my button and get free stuff. It's a nice recognition but is accumulating dust on a shelf. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZKYlIB4f6qlm5o That is me, a long time ago. The channel "failed" because I talked about songs, in DEPTH...note by note. Tough songs like pink floyd songs. My competition made 5 minute videos showing a dumb chord. They have millions subs, they made a ton of money..... I was one the first youtubers about guitar tutorials, in the world. And it failed.... But why ? My content was much detailed, about tuff tracks. People don't want to watch a note by note,...they want to know to play a chord, to show their friends they can play a chord about some random song. People want to learnt how to play La Bamba.... not sultans of swing. Anyways, people and KZbin want shorter videos, and we have to give the people what they want. Once we have their attention, we show them the other side.... Sorry, I wrote a TON....sorry dude.

@@XNBeatsMusic I agree that in the end it's best to make videos shorter, not just because of this culture and lazy viewers, but also because free time is scarce for many.

@@XNBeatsMusic That's really sad, dude. I can't understand spanish but really like videos with detailed explanation of songs and music theory in general. To my mind channels that really cover those subjects are pretty popular (but I'm not sure what number of followers means a success for a youtuber). Have you watched "8-bit Music Theory", "MusicTheoryForGuitar" or Rick Beato? Very interesting and deep channels and some of their videos collect million+ views. And just.. DON'T GIVE UP ON THIS CHANNEL! you explain the stuff very clearly and I really like your videos. So I'm sure someday you'll become well recognized.

@@XNBeatsMusic Thinking about to make a track just with Poly Grid devices (and soon withe Note Grid). - Polarity made a nice video how to create basic devices like Phaser, Chorus, Flanger and Filters with the Grid. It's awesome to see it's fundamentally just Delays.
@x-iso
@x-iso 2 жыл бұрын
@@realtonaldrum I don't think Convolution reverb is possible with Grid, afaik it needs 1-sample feedback for some routings, which is only available internally in modules like Mod Delay or Phase-1, so we need a dedicated Convolution module and device.

@@x-iso The convolution request has been there for a while....long while. Don't see it anytime soon. But they have announced some chorus, flanger and phaser+ for the next version. I just want a good TUNER !!!!
