Didn't know Pat LaBarbera was your mentor in college! Had the pleasure of seeing hearing him a couple times. Awesome lesson. It's definitely much easier to internalize this sound like this than the usual way people talk about it.

Interesting. It took me till about minute 7 before I understood why you were approaching it this way. At first I thought you were over complicating it! But it's a useful way of looking at it

Your advice to concentrate on the sound and the chord tones is extremely helpful to me. The scale shape has not been. Great tips - thanks!

I have always related certain sounds to specific songs, which make it so much easier to recall with the instrument in hand. I'd say being conscious of this even helps while improvising, then I just veer off and on as a means of experimentation and build from there.

I'll have to watch this a few times. Is this the altered scale too?
@MikkokosmosАй бұрын
No here I only cover the half whole scale

Nice lesson, thanks. I always think of H-W diminished as a Lydian Dominant, with a split 2 (b2, no natural 2, #2). Maybe not the best approach. That new Ibanez PM is sweet.

I'm working with the book Melodic Structures by Jerry Bergonzi. What is the Song "Inside the Milky Way" based on? Anybody know? How are you liking your new Ibanez?

That's In You Own Sweet Way. I think Jerry played with Dave Brubeck btw
