How to Use the Insta360 X4 on a Motorcycle | Is this the Ultimate 8K Motovlogging Camera?

Marc, wonderful review, as always: clear (for non-experts like me) and very thorough, and great examples of positioning and usage. Thanks! I have a few questions, though: - Is the X4 waterproof, in case you encounter some unexpected rain? - Can the X4 be powered from an external USB source while recording? I ask this because typically I power a GoPro from the bike's power, record the entire day, and then select "highlight reels" -- say, 10 to 20-minute clips -- in post-processing, to put up on KZbin. - Last, I use GoPro's optional rainproof USB-C pass-through door and cable (for my Hero9 and 11), along with a 3BR Powersports rainproof-while-in-use USB port, for power. So, can the X4 be powered externally while recording but ALSO do this in the rain? I'm a little disappointed that there is no GPS telemetry, though. I like to show overlays of speed, altitude, lean angle, and path-of-travel on my videos. Still, you may have convinced me to buy an X4, perhaps as a second camera for my travels. Hi Bill, the Insta360 X4 is waterproof up to 10m. You can power it via USB port, when recording, but I would not use it like tisane the rain with the open USB port. You only get all GPS data when you have the new Insta X4 remote. Cheers Marc

Thanks for the clarifications, Marc. I may get the X4, and just turn it on while riding some especially interesting twisties -- and that hand-gesture start-recording feature seems like it would be pretty useful for that.

@@Marc.Stones GPS DATA IS OBTAINED WITH BOTH THE OLD CONTROL AND THE NEW ONE THAT SHOWS YOU ON YOUR SCREEN WHAT THE CAMERA IS RECORDING. I USE THE FIRST VERSION OF THE CONTROLLER AND WITHOUT PROBLEMS WITH THE X4.

Hello Marc, thank you for showing and demonstrating the many angles with the X4 camera. I have an X3 and don’t know if I will upgrade to the X4.

If you are satisfied with your X3 you don’t need to upgrade. Only if you need mire resolution and a longer battery life.

you should do a cage for the camera as well as a teather from the cage to the selfy stick so the camera does not fall off !!
