So when it prompts you to add or turn food is it safe to just pull the lid off? Or is there a way to pause it? I end up canceling the rest of the cook time to put in my food and to turn it, and having to start the setting again. Also, I’m assuming that base is supposed to go on the basket when frying? I thought it was to store it, it seemed like it wasn’t heat safe lol

Hello. Can you make a video or share how you make the nuggets and fries together for your kids. You have me so excited to purchase but need tips on kid friendly meals
@PressureCookingToday2 жыл бұрын
Yes, we'll add this to our list of videos to film. We don't have an exact science to it, but I'll have to write it down to a recipe. We set the temp to 400F and the time for 15 minutes, but it never takes that full amount of time. The kids like those Dino chicken nuggets, which cook faster (8-10ish minutes?) than the frozen real chicken strips made with real breast meat (closer to 15 minutes-ish). I also usually start with just enough fries alongside the nuggets to give the kids a few so they'll actually eat their dang chicken nuggets and not just fill up on fries, and then while we're eating the "first course" I'll fill up the air fryer with a second batch of fries to add on with the second. (My kids love the arby's curly fries when we splurge, but otherwise we always go for thin cut. Elementary school ruined the thicker crinkle-cut fries for me.) Hope this helps!

I was wondering if Pro crisp is worth buying for the extra air frying feature or going ahead with Vortex as the air fryer?
@PressureCookingToday2 жыл бұрын
If you have room in your kitchen, I prefer having separate appliances. But if you don't like dirtying more than one dish, it is nice to brown cheese right on top of the pasta you cooked in the IP. So it really depends on your style of cooking too.
@Pinkheartbwell Жыл бұрын
Would u recommend purchasing the pro or the pro with air fryer? I notice main difference is the no yogurt button on air fryer one and favorite settings. Is it easy to clean air fryer heating element? I'm watching this video now and thank you for making these videos for those of us who are trying to figure out the ins and outs of instant pots.
@PressureCookingToday Жыл бұрын
If you have room in your kitchen for a separate air fryer, then I prefer having them separate. However, if kitchen space isn't an issue, the Pro Crisp is a good option.
@ChristineBriggs-h4i6 ай бұрын
@@PressureCookingToday I'm also considering the pro vs. pro w/air fryer. Can you please tell me what is better about having them separate? I was thinking it would be nice to steam or pressure cook a chicken and then brown the skin with the air fryer feature or to be able to broil cheese on top of pasta.
@PressureCookingToday6 ай бұрын
Many people like the combo and it is as good choice. It just depends on what you'll be cooking. I rarely cook a whole chicken and if I do, I don't eat the skin, so browning it isn't important to me. If I'm adding cheese to a pasta dish, I prefer to finish it in the oven in a 9x13 pan so the cheese is more evenly distributed on the pasta. I use my air fryer often for cooking things like potato wedges. With the basket style air fryer I can quickly toss the potatoes and put the basket back in the air fryer to quickly continue cooking.

Helpful video but still intimidating. I got rid of my slow cooker and contemplating buying this. If I for example used a slow cooker for a Mississippi pot roast, would I use the slow cook option for this appliance or pressure cook it? Can most slow cooker meals be cooked in this? Thank you!

Attaching the PC lid to its storage lid drives me crazy. Is there an easy way to do it??
@PressureCookingToday Жыл бұрын
I'm wondering if you mean the air fryer lid to the storage trivet? I'll admit that it took me a lot of tries to get the hang of it, and I still get it wrong sometimes. When it doesn't slide on the regular top-down way, I'll wait until it's completely cool, then turn it so the air fryer element is facing up. On my counter, I'll hold the lid so that the air fryer six-prong is opposite of me, and my storage lid also has the Instant Pot logo facing away from me. (So the lip-less edge is near the six-prong space and the indented left edge lines up almost even with where the lid comes back up in a kind of trapezoid shape.) Then I'll use my index finger to push on the inside corner of the storage lid use my other hand to keep the storage lid pressed down as it goes past the six-prong plug. Then just keep pushing until your finger pushing the inside corner of the storage lid is nearly even with the lid fin. If you think it'd be helpful, I'll try to film a KZbin short.
@RAGordy2 ай бұрын
I don’t think the air fryer insert is necessary. Seems to cook fine without it by using the trivet to facilitate airflow.

I agree, if you're not air frying a lot or small items, the trivet works well.

I'm a little confused with locking the air fryer lid onto the cover, what exactly am I lining up?
@PressureCookingToday2 жыл бұрын
The air fryer lid has two little down pieces that stick out from the lid and they fit into place exactly on the lid fins on the outer housing, if that makes sense? And the lid has a little rectangle with six metal pins in it that fit onto the same-shaped rectangle on the housing? Let me know if you still have questions!
