Super, super useful instruction! I was very confused by Milwaukee, even got some minor injuries when trying to change the blade, due to not installed it correctly (thanks God, no major ones yet). That was why I searched and found your video. Hope Milwaukee or Home Depot put this on their site to prevent injuries for customers.

You would think detail instructions would come with a tool like this. When we couldn't find any easy to use instructions we decided to make this video to help prevent some injuries and frustration. Thank you for the feedback and for watching.

Once again, You Tube is the best resource for this single woman that's a serious DIYer. I bought a set of the hole saws and had not been able to figure out the arbor mechanics. I bought several smaller extra hole saws that are the smallest they make, and it's been a real challenge to figure out what I need to get for them. There's lot of choices on arbors..at local hardware and big box stores, but no one seems to know how to help me. Now, "I know" what I "need to know". Thank you much!

A weak point of hole saws is the drill bit hole. Use anti seize and don’t crank or over torque the set screw. I remove the drill after use. They can get burs from the set screw and get stuck.
@cfldriven
@cfldriven 2 жыл бұрын
Over torquing and bottoming out will definitely make it much harder to disassemble after use. Milwaukee's approach on the big arbor has resulted in no stuck parts. THanks for watching.

Excellent video, thank you. Is it possible to use the hole-saw without the drill bit? I’m trying to make tenons for log furniture, and I want to start the hole with the drill bit to get the hole-saw centered, and then remove the drill bit from the holesaw and continue drilling the tenon. If the drillbit continues all the way through the tenon, it will weaken the tenon.

You would only be able to cut until the arbor bottoms out on the material. I have never done this but think it should work. Let us know if you do it.

As a contractor why would i even waste my time with this garbage system. Spyder's carbide hole saws take' seconds to change and even spit out the wood. Seconds! The Milwaukee system is complete garbage! Bosch used to have a similar system to Spyder's in the past, but not sure what happened to it.

Thank you for sharing about the Spyder hole saw, the ability to eject the material is impressive. The Spyder is exclusive to Lowes, although Amazon sells them for more, which could be issue for some viewers. I appreciate learning about this alternative hole saw.

The funny part is Milwaukee tells you to not use the second arbor in your video with larger hole saws (presumably because it might get stuck, and because there is no place to grip the hole saw with a wrench on the larger ones wrench) BUT they actually sell them pre-assembled that way as a kit. I bought a 2" one, and - predictably - I had a HELL of a time getting it off after using it just to drill through some drywall. I had to use an adjustable wrench on the hex bit side, and stick a long narrow screwdriver through the holes in the side of the hole saw to force it off. In my first attempt I destroyed a screwdriver, as it got bent. They should really follow their own advice and only use the simple screw-on arbor for small hole saws...

So apparently... you can actually slip a socket over the end of the small arbor and use an impact with a wrench and it works like a charm if the holesaw is stuck. After drilling throigh metal... they don't want to come off and sometimes two wrenches or a set of adjustable pliers slip.

Great overview. What confuses me is that for larger holes, Milwaukee sells both a 3/8" arbor (without locking nut) and 7/16" arbor (with locking nut, shown in this video). They are priced the same, both are quick change, and both accept the same range in hole sizes, so I'm not sure what the use case for one vs the other is. Anyone know?

Man I can't believe there are actually people who can't figure out those simple steps. But your video really wasn't complete. The other thing most newbies need instructions on is setting the depth of the pilot bit to protude the correct amount in front of the saw. Also instructions on how it's sometimes better to go ahead with a regular drill and pre drill the quarter inch pilot hole so that the saw teeth don't grab suddenly when the pilot bit breaks through.
