This is the first time I've seen how these packs work and why they are so popular. Good to see you again, Randy.

Been looking at the Mystery Ranch packs and Scheels had the Beartooth 80 on sale. So I grabbed it. Thanks for the great demonstration.

Crazy timing on this video. Just got my Beartooth in the mail two days ago. Can’t wait to use it this fall! Thanks Randy

I packed out 2 bull elk with my Beartooth and 2 whitetails with my Sawtooth this year and they did incredible. Hands down worth every penny. Only complaint was after washing it off, the frame became VERY squeeky. I just soaked the stays really well in white lithium WD40 and problem solved

Have the Beartooth. Best pack i’ve ever had! Was able to de-bone a whitetail this year and haul it out in one load.

Thank you for the demonstration, no one else has a GOOD video on that shelf. Plan A: elk runs into the back of the pickup and "falls over". Plan B: get my new Mistery Ranch dirty !

I got a selway for my birthday back in march. I used it a lot this year filling 6 tags here in wyoming. I can say these packs are tough. And they are much mor capable than i am hahah. I shot my first elk this year. . .a cow. My buddy decoded to shoot a calf out of the same herd. Somehow. . .he convinced me to try and do a 1 trip packout. . .all he had was his janspprt book bag 🤦. I quartered and deboned my elk and somehow. . . Got everything in/on my pack. . .made it 200yds and had a few choice words dor my buddy lol. Dropped the pack and made a 2 trip packout 3.5 miles each way. I told him hes renting the llamas next time 😄 i couldnt believe how solid the pack was with all that meat attached even if it was only 200yds woth the full weight.

I have the Metcalf. Fits great and carries weight. How do you minimize the blood from a quarter that seems to squirt out onto the back of your legs with every step you take? Last elk packout had the entire back of my pants and lower part if my shirt coated in blood. Any suggestions?
@justindeming35534 жыл бұрын
Turn it so leg is pointing down. Or I always pack some heavy plastic grocery bags just to keep that from happening. Only during the pack out do I use them to contain blood. Don’t leave plastic on it will spoil meat.
@whiteyfisk97693 жыл бұрын
You can minimize it by taking a tryactin pill, tryactin like a man

Heck I’ve found they even work well for hauling turkeys out

I’ve never packed any game out before but I’ve rucked many miles. I’ve always kept my weight close to the frame and HIGH. Would be cool if they could make a meat shelf that is customizable that way if you like to carry your game up higher near your shoulders that’s possible.

What's the guestimation on the weight of that quarter?
@Bsmd253 жыл бұрын
From my experience elk front quarters are about 35 to 40 pounds and hind quarters are about 65. A big bodied bull will be heavier though, that’s just a good starting place, every elk is different.🤷♂️

Where are you able to hunt cows so late in the season?
@toddturnbaugh44514 жыл бұрын
@@mxracer317 southeastern utah. The season goes from mid December till the end of January. They come over from Colorado when they get snow in the mountains. Went down right after Christmas but didn't see a thing after covering 50 miles, so I'm hoping the get more snow in the next week.
