Just got the Helix floor this week. Did the update with no problems, so I don't know what I didn't have before the update. I've built one preset with a tutorial from another KZbin page and that was for worship guitar. We're talking 3 drives, 3 delays, 2 reverbs and more. So now, I'm looking for more simpler stuff for Classic Rock and Country stuff. Appreciate what you do man.

I've always been a combo amp guy, so the idea of using one cabinet across multiple amps never really occurred to me--I always have selected Amp+Cab blocks. With the new changes in 3.5, though, I can see where this would work REALLY well. I'll now be separating the two!
@jodecaesteker2 жыл бұрын
The delay within both cabs is nice for the cab reflections, but you can also use it for a (fake, but cool) double track like effect. Before, I did this by using two cabs, pulling down one cab to create a secondary path, panning both cabs hard left and right and adding a delay to one cab with 0 feedback, 100% mix and 20-25ms time. Now, you can do ALL that, in ONE block: no need for a secondary path and an extra delay block. Just use a dual cab, pan them hard left and right (within each cab individually) and set the delay of one cab to 20-20ms (within the cab settings). Obviously, everything after the dual cabs has to be stereo or you won't have the effect. You now have a secondary path free to use for other stuff than the double track effect if you did it like I did before with the secondary path + delay. And you can now also do the same with dual IR's. The delay parameter isn't available within each individual IR though. When using dual IR's, you get a third tab, called "both" which contains a mix parameter and a delay parameter. When dragging the delay left, you adjust the delay of one IR, when dragging right, you adjust the delay of the other one. If they are panned hard left and right (do that within the IR's themselves individually), you get the same double track effect. NICE! And with IR's, you can change the IR's themselves with snapshots (like before). With cabs, you can change the mic types and their position with snapshots, which you could also do before. But the new dual cab/IR blocks including the new mic handling (for the cabs), pan and delay parameters are making this a superb and very significant update!

Super video Steve! First, I'm really impressed by how much of an influence the cab+mic combo makes on ALL amp tones without even touching the amp! Second, I like the novel idea of setting up the cab+mic blocks first, then adjusting the amp (if even needed); seems like a LOT less amp tweaking is needed. Finally, I really like the idea of setting up some favorites & defaults to make it easier to create new Presets in the future. Why continue to reinvent the wheel? Keep the great videos coming!

Yep, my experience is the same. Set the Cabinet sound selecting a good Mic/combination, move them to locations that sound good, and you're essentially done. I was dumbfounded by how simple it was to dial in an awesome sound, and how fast and fun it was. It also demonstrates how good the Stock Amp settings are. I updated a couple of days ago to 3.50 and it was well worth it for the sounds, and the reduction in DSP usage by 66-80%. This means that more Blocks or DSP intensive Blocks can be used within the 8-Block limitation. By switching to the same, but new more efficient Cab from the Update, I was able to add the "1 Switch Looper" to a Preset that had an open Block, but not enough DSP. I think I'll be updating my old Presets with the new Cabs, as the DSP improvements seem worth it. Thanks

I don't know if you've noticed yet or not, but each cab has a set spot where it tells you it's on the cap edge, and it seems to be at a different number value for each cab. Interesting!

One thing I've learned from your last few videos is how to add to favorites and make user default profiles. Great stuff! I know you are thrilled with not having to change the stock amp settings, but the question I have is - with the cab optimized, what happens when the amp is then changed? I know, it's a lot to take in right now, but for future videos maybe you could take one of these optimized cabs and explore the range of tomes by adjusting the amp.

Hi Steve, not sure if you can help here (or respond). I have a Helix LT and I followed your instructions as closely as possible for the settings you did for the Princeton, however, it doesn't remotely sound as clean and responsive as yours. It's all a little muddy. I tried with XLRs to Headrush FRFR and directly to a KRK Rokit. Any ideas why this may be happening? I really have to boost the treble/presence in the amp setting to get to sound brighter and more like an amp.
@SteveSterlacci2 жыл бұрын
What volume level are you listening at? Speakers really need to be cranked up sometimes to get the right sound. If its super quiet, the headrush and monitors will be muddy

@@SteveSterlacci Thank you for responding. I had the Helix LT at 10:00 o'clock and the Headrush was half way. I turned up the Helix to 3:00 oclock (roughly 3/4) and that did make a difference. Thank you!

FX:, DIR:, ACO: etc. Any way I can get a backup of a Factory 1 preset list? Now I know why people are raving about the sound...I hadn't heard those presets in my Stomp because they are not there... Any help anyone would be appreciated. Or please educate me as to what I don't know? Thank You in advance and Best Regards.

Thanks Steve that was helpful. Quick question, maybe a dumb one but what's the difference between saving as a favorite and a user default?
@rovenordiales2 жыл бұрын
Favorite just keeps it in the favorite section for ease of putting it in a patch. User default is fixing a setting for a specific amp. Whenever you select the amp it will recall that default setting then you can edit if you want. Default just sets the baseline settings.

Thanks Alex! Whats the difference between 2 separate cabs and dual cab?
@jodecaesteker2 жыл бұрын
Soundwise, I guess (almost) none. However, it allows for two cabs to be in one single block, including panning and even delay on one cab for instance, if you want a (half) stereo, double track like effect. Not needing two seperate cab blocks which have to be on two paths, also leaves the secondary path free for other stuff like wet dry effects...

Delaying one of your two microphones does NOT take the place of early reflections (very short room like reverb). It only delays the whichever microphone's input into your signal! I use it mostly to create a wider stereo effect when I use it with panning (HAAS EFFECT!). kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaucoY2Qr9WrrdU

Hi Steve, I don't see a lot of videos on KZbin, geared just for HX Effects users. I think this is an untapped opportunity, waiting for some savvy KZbinr to fill that need. I only use an HX Effects with 2 Peavey Classic 20 heads in the 7 cable method, along with a stereo Peavey cab. I need someone smarter than me to show me all the possibilities, when new firmware is released. Just sayin'. :)
@SteveSterlacci2 жыл бұрын
