I was excited for the new system but seeing that nothing was available at the park, you have to keep in mind that you are paying for 3 rides and that’s it…I understand we can book one as soon as we used one, but if nothing is available, that’s it. I’m a bit disappointed after watching the reality of it. Yes, being able to book in advance is good but then when you’re at the park nothing will be available…😢

I dunno... my family of 4 was at Disney in mid June and bought the Genie Plus several times, our Hollywood Studios day was reasonably busy but not packed to capacity. We rope dropped Rise and managed to use the Genie system to LL just about every ride that was eligible for LL, nothing was sold out completely in the morning. This is looking like, pre-book your three, and maybe score another LL after you use your first one. Then everything will be sold out by mid morning. If that's how it usually goes, the value of LL just plummeted.

This is similar to the Fast Pass+ experience. If you weren’t a resort guest and booked your 3 rides 60 days in advance, you were really at a disadvantage. With this system back in place, navigating the system the day of was really difficult and it was hard to get decent ride reservation times after you used your 3 rides. Usually by noon, a lot of rides were booked for the day or return times were so late in the day and you spent all your time trying to modify in the app. I’m glad you get 3 rides again to start, but unless you’re booking 7 days in advance, you’re really at a disadvantage

So what I am taking away is for HS, I get to pick one ride I want to ride and then the other three are filler attractions I probably wouldn't need a lightning lane for anyway. I already miss Genie plus. I think it is wild to say it's better just because it is easier to use. If I can't get to ride everything on my once or twice a year vacation, that's not worth it. Hopefully you are right that the number of LL go up.

Imagine the alternative. If they allowed everyone to pick as many tier 1 rides as they wanted so many people would be disappointed & not able to get one of the more popular rides. Tower of Terror & Toy Story Mania are great tier 2 rides.

I think it should be pick 1 ride, after use or two hours after park open pick the next ride. I am mainly saying the new process sounds like a way for them to charge me for a service that can't get me as many rides as I could get before under Genie plus which benefits them because they still get the money and then have shorter LL lines, but I don't get the same value I got with G+. I am going in Sept so I will see how it is working then. I would love for it to be great but from what I have seen so far, seems not worth the change for the actual experience.

Tip is that you buy lightening lane in one park- and after you have used them you can book at another park. We used the ending of our HS day to book Epcot rides- Remy and Soarin. After being quite negative on it I actually really liked using it. I only bought it for 2 days out of our trip, but really got a lot done in those 2 days.

As a passholder honestly I will probably never use this unless people from out of town are visiting . We have been Going to the parks most of the summer and the posted wait times are turning out to be about half of the actual time in line if that. They’re inflating the times to try to encourage you to purchase this product. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm from the UK and we feel super let down by the fact that international visitors can't book anything in advance with this system. So disappointed, especially as it costs us an absolute fortune to get there 😢so we are able to visit much less frequently. As usual we appreciate you taking the time to explain how it works though.

There is a workaround for us uk visitors. Go into your phone settings and don't allow Disney World app to use location. Then when using the disney app, click on the 3 lines on bottom right - profile - account settings and change country/region of residence to United States.

I had lots of issues with the new system the first day as well. I couldn’t do anything before I got to the park because I was getting Error Messages. I had to go to Guest Relations multiple times, they finally put in an IT ticket, and that seemed to help. One Cast Member did tell me that a few people were having the same issue but most were not.

Disney app checks only your geolocation. It's a geofencing block that anyone can circumvent with GPS spoofing. Just google "gps spoofing android" or "gps spoofing iphone" follow steps and your' good to go. I did it today and it worked like a charm

Only one person (the person booking) has to have the app. When you purchase tickets you will make a profile for each person in your family & link the ticket to that profile. Then when you go to purchase Lightning lane you can select the people in your family joining you that day. You have to pay per person per day

Planning a future vacation here, but just wondering if anyone can put in their 2 cents. I honestly don't want to spend my vacation refreshing a page on my phone to grab a ride space. Nor is it realistic for my family to run from one side of the park to the other due to some health limitations. Are lines really that bad to just hop onto a ride and wait? Is it realistic to just plan to do that and expect to ride at least 50% of the rides? I just want more of a relaxing vacation where we can just wander and take our time enjoying things. This all just looks super crazy to me to wake up at 7 am and start to book your rides...maybe this is just the way it is? Any advice would be great!

I think if planned properly you can definitely ride at the very least 50% of the rides in each park without lightning lane. If so either rope drop or stay until park close & hit the more popular attractions early on or late at night

Yes! You don’t have to do all 3 rides in Animal Kingdom before hopping. I believe you only have to do 1. It’s definitely cheaper to start in Animal Kingdom.

So frustrating for us international travellers (UK here) we cannot book in advance (until we arrive in the US), so we have paid to stay on Disney property as a party of 10, have spent over £35,000 for our holiday and we cannot use the facility of booking in advance as we arrive on one day and start in the parks the next day....not helpful to lose and early booking advantage...at least with genie we would have been on a level playing field with everyone else!

Genie plus was awesome, this is horrible. We were so excited when they got rid of park reservations for date based tickets but this basically brings it back. We have to decide what days we are going to which park if we want to use it instead of being able to be flexible with our plans. We are up early for rope drop so I never understood the 7:00 am complaint. Plus you only get 5 minutes to make all your reservations for your entire vacation and check out - I am so stressed about that. Maybe this is good for local AP holders, but for people coming for a vacation it seems awful. Curses on all you fastpass people that demanded it to come back, not everyone wants a vacation planned to the hour. RIP Genie+, you will be missed!

If you are managing everyone’s plans from your account you would have a profile for everyone with their tickets attached. When you go to purchase lightning lane multi pass you will select each person from the list (you have to pay per person per day)

Obviously disney don't want visitors from uk or anywhere outside USA. I am booked to co.e in January but this seriously making me rethink my plans. "Changed forever" more like "Forever Changing" 😏 the tier system will be the biggest downfall of this system, whatever 1st one you get, be ready to not be able to get another after.
