Hi! After I wash my face, I use The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Solution once in the evening, then top it with moisturizer every day. However, I still suffer from huge pores. My parents recommended adding The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum to reduce my pores. Does it really reduce pores? And if so, how often do I pair the two? Is niacinamide every day in the evening also or twice a day?
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet 8 ай бұрын
It only reduces their size when they are enlarged due to excessive oil production or when they're clogged by debris like dead skin cells, primarily affecting the top layers. Niacinamide and salicylic acid (SA) can help balance oil production, and SA also removes dead skin cells. This can make the pores appear smaller, yes, if that was the initial cause. Of course, if their size is due to genetics, there isn't much that can be done to change that.

Hey! :) What's your skin type? Overall, your skincare routine looks good. However, I'm not sure about CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser as that one is meant for dry skin. My recommendation would be to use a hydrating foaming cleanser instead. Something like The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser or Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser.

Have you ever tried the CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser? It's a really good foaming cleanser that isn't too stripping. If you're using niacinamide and the CeraVe moisturizing cream (I use this cream as well) your face is getting plenty of moisturization. I agree, and would maybe try a different cleanser if your acne is persisting.

I ordered The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution, I'm waiting for it to arrive in the mail. I'm really nervous to try it as there are many reviews on The Ordinary website that outline allergic reactions or irritation due to alleged reformulation issues. My skin is acne prone (and stubborn), I was hoping to incorporate this solution but now I'm a bit unsure if I should try it. Do you have any experience with the newest formula?

I haven't experienced any issues with the Salicylic Acid exfoliant. You can also do a patch test (kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJmmlphtocd8sKcsi=Qg0QJY73Q4y9AmY1) before using it. However, I also recommend considering factors like lack of sleep, stress, and your diet, as these can contribute to acne. See here: kzbin.infoUgkxdw_LYE11A_BXgv1hUa_8inPqL6mt5ZE8

Hi! I am from a hot climate where the temperature is always above 30 degree Celsius so the room temperature is never 25 unless it is winter. So can you suggest if i should keep my ordinary serums such as salysilic acid 2%,niacinamide, alpha arbutin, multipeptide hair serum etc in my normal fridge or would that seperate my serums and make it less effective? Or should i just put it in a drawer away from sunlight?And also new to skincare ,so haven't been able to buy a skincare fridge yet. And what about my sunscreen should also keep it there or 32+ degree temperature would cause any harm to it either? Hope you will answer❤🎉
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet 3 ай бұрын
With such temperatures, I would personally store all skincare products in the fridge. You can use a skincare fridge, which has slightly higher temperatures, but that’s another investment you might not want to make. Your normal fridge works too. If you don’t like your products too cold, simply take them out a little before use and put them back after.

Well, you could theoretically use one in the morning and the other in the evening, but it's best to use both in the evening and alternate between them. However, even that may become too much at some point, so it might be better to use them every other day. For example, use salicylic acid (SA) on Monday, then take a break on Tuesday (just wash normally), use glycolic acid on Wednesday, take a break on Thursday, and so on.

Why would you want to include that Salicylic Acid Serum? I mean, you're already using a Salicylic Acid cleanser, so it isn't really necessary. As for the claim about melasma, there is likely more to that story. It usually stems from hormonal imbalances, which can result from pregnancy, menopause, or diet.

@@naseeeeeha Yeah, I have the same. But some ingredients, which I haven't entirely determined, still cause me to get pimples. It's very hard to pinpoint the exact cause. You can give it a bit more time, but if it doesn't improve, I would recommend discontinuing SA products and trying a different acid, such as Mandelic Acid 10% by The Ordinary.
