Thank you very much!❤
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Жыл бұрын
Well, you could try retinol (0,2%) or their 2% Salicylic Acid serum (the water-based version). However, if you're dealing with a significant amount of pimples or acne, it might be best to use a retinoid such as Differin Gel instead. Incorporating that into your routine could help target the problem more effectively in the long run. Here's a recommended routine: Clean your face. Pat it dry. Apply Differin gel (it can be purchased on iherb.com if it's not locally available). Wait for 2 minutes. Apply The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA. You can also check out this video for more information: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJTakGidf5KSiq8

@@kimiide1769 I'm wondering, do you already have a retinoid from The Ordinary? I recall you asked me about how to store it. If so, you could use that instead of Differin. From my experience, however, a gel form tends to be more effective. The one suspended in squalane can become quite oily, which might cause issues, especially if your skin is already oily.

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Hi!! thanks for the reply. I tend to have very sensitive skin, I am mainly just concerned that it will make me react and will dry my skin out. Other than that, I am trying to reduce fine wrinkles and implement a better skin care routine as I only use a handmade moisturizer with witch hazel and lavender AM and PM, no other products. Along with this set, I purchased the retinol 1% in squalane serum from The Ordinary.
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet2 жыл бұрын
@@alexie1111 Ok, so Niacinamide and Salicylic Acid can make the skin drier as both regulate oiliness, therefore it is more suitable for people with an oilier skin type and congested skin. In your case, I would look into Hydrating and/or Peptide products which can be from The Ordinary (Amino Acids, Marine Hyaluronic, Hyaluronic Acid, Buffet, Buffet + Copper Peptides and/or any of the oils) or Hylamide a Deciem brand (SubQ Skin, Hyaluronic Acid Serum and/or Sensitive Fix). As for Retinol, since you already have sensitive skin, either go with a Peptide Serum and/or 2% Granactive Retinoid (it's less likely to cause sensitivity). The one 1% one is too potent if you are completely new to it.

I wouldn't use it after the Salicylic Acid masque, and you cannot use it with The Ordinary Niacinamide, but you can use it before the moisturizer if you like. Personally, I only use it on its own after cleanser because it has this "oily" texture.

Depending on how strong those acne scars are...Niacinamide may help already! However, Alpha Arbutin and Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) can help, but it takes some time! Have a look at the video below: The Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% Dark Spots | Before & After 13 Weeks (Acne Marks): kzbin.info/www/bejne/inK6k5utqtRjj7M The Salicylic Acid mask may help to some point otherwise you may need to look into another exfoliating acid which you could use in between :)

I ran out of product and over a few months my skin definitely got more textured, I ordered the balance set and hoping to see results. I have two questions: 1) Should I include Azelaic Acid in this routine? or will it be too much? 2) This isn't really related to the video, but have you read about hard water effects on skin? I live in a very hard water area and tried to clean my face with distilled water and I feel like my skin is much cleaner and less irritated.
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Жыл бұрын
Hello :) I don't believe that including Azelaic Acid would be too much, as it is very gentle on the skin and should work well. Regarding the water, I've given the quality a lot of thought. In the past, I've traveled and lived in different areas and countries. I think water quality can be a significant issue, not only due to hardness, but potentially also due to contamination with bacteria or substances added to keep it clean. I always recommend people rinse it off their skin. Some people tend to leave it on, thinking it provides extra hydration. However, I've often read about this causing breakouts, so I believe water quality can indeed be a major factor. It's definitely something to consider! Edit: Where do you live? 🤔

Hey there! Avoid using your Vitamin C serum and Vitamin C Suspension in the same routine-just use one of them. Be cautious with potent Ascorbic Acid (pure Vitamin C) near the eyes; avoid applying it on the eyelids. @@alicostanzo9745 Correct. Either use the Vitamin C serum or the Suspension. If possible, use it only in the PM, as Vitamin C is sensitive to light and heat. It can also be stored in the fridge. Oh, okay, I thought you were using The Ordinary Peptide Serum. There are many different peptides on the market, and some of them are sensitive to a low pH/acidic environment. Therefore, it's best to keep them in separate routines. You can use your Peptide Serum in the AM and Vitamin C in the PM. Remember to apply your eye cream before your moisturizer.

Yes, that's okay. Just do not use it when using the salicylic acid mask :) And how often you can use it depends on your personal tolerance for the glycolic acid itself. So you need to test it and see how much exfoliating your skin needs.

Hi Melissa! Thanks you for all these educational videos ❣️ I have a question and would appreciate if you can help! I have always used basic cleanse &moisturize skin care but I feel like I need more with first signs of aging. Have oily T zone, enlarged pores, blackheads and some old acne scars here and there and normal skin in other areas. I have below routine for AM & PM but want to incorporate Ordinary buffet to morning and Granactive Retinoid Emulsion to PM. But freaking out with these ingredients of mix and do not mix! Do you think it is ok of I add them to below routine? AM: La Roche Posay Effaclar or Cerave Foaming cleanser Ordinary Niacinamide serum Darphin ideal resource or hydraskin light moisturiser Darphin Intral if I am going to be exposed to sun PM: Same cleansers as AM Niacinamide serum Body Shop vitamin E or Cetaphil night cream I have also recently started using AHA/BHA solution from Ordinary once a week and it seems to be helping a lot with skin texture! I just am not sure if my night moisturiser is suitable to use after that. Thank you so much❣️🙏🏻
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet4 жыл бұрын
Hey :) You can use it like this: AM Routine: - Cleanse - Buffet - Niacinamide - Moisturizer - SPF Buffet and Niacinamide should not be used with pure form of Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid). Also, Buffet should not be used with exfoliating acids (AHA or BHA). PM Routine: - Cleanse - Granactive Retinoid - (Optional) Moistuizer PM 2 (1-2 times per week): - Cleanse - Peeling Solution - Moisturizer You can use one of the PM moisturizers that you like to use, both are fine! Also, you may want to have a look at a BHA (Salicylic Acid) Solution to target blackheads😊

@@sedaozarpac70 No worries 😊 Well, you can use it in the AM but I'm not sure about your PM routine, depends on if you use the Granactive Retinoid on the eye contour or not...otherwise this may be too much if you layer 2 Retinol products on top of each other since it is not recommended to use Retinoid or Retinol with other Retinol-like products😊 I haven't tried the La Roche Posay Retinol eye cream but I have tried their Retinol cream for the face and I love it!😊

You have to adjust it based on your skin needs. So you can only use the masque 2x a week. Otherwise, it may be very drying, and as a result, you may get skin irritation, but apart from that, you can use the products daily or only once a day or only the ones you want to use. It isn't easy to guide because it is individual. Therefore, you need to experiment to see what works best for you :)

Hello :) I can help you to figure it out and if you like to I can check it again :) Cosrx Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% = Water-Based Serum The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA = Water-Based Serum The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% = Suspension The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution =Masque (video kzbin.info/www/bejne/l53ckoN_lrJ_qZY) The Ordinary Granactive Retinoids 2% Emulsion = Same as Anhydrous Solution Cerave Daily Lotion = Lotion The general rule of thumb for the order of application is: 1. Water-based serums 2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations 3. Lotions & Creams & suspensions Important: If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first). And it’s recommended applying eye-serums (such as Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG) first after cleansing. It’s recommended using no more than 3 serum formulations in a single routine for optimal skin penetration. About 2-3 drops of each serum and 1 pea-sized amount of creams should be enough for the full face and neck. Use a "patting" application method, as opposed to "rubbing." Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!! Some products can have a foaming effect upon application depending on the other products you are using in your regimen. The foaming should not last longer than a few seconds and both should not remain sticky once absorbed into the skin. (Video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGGXiGqohrtkiJI) "Pilling" (snakeskin, shedding) can occur due to too much product. Your skin can only absorb a certain amount of product, and any excess will be left on top of the skin so that when the next product is being applied, it rubs off. (Video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/opCmaHuqhJ1lbKM) If you wish to incorporate multiple Vitamin C's, Retinoids, and/or Direct Acids into your skincare regimen, it's suggested using them on alternate evenings and waiting until your skin has adjusted to one before introducing another. Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% cannot be used alongside any pure or ethylated forms of Vitamin C. Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% can only be used alongside Vitamin C derivatives: - Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% - Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F - Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10% How to Create a Skincare Routine With The Ordinary Products - A Beginners Guide: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pp_KkJR3nJp1ZqM

@@vale_8050 No, not necessarily. However, you need to figure out what's causing your acne in the first place. Otherwise, your acne will always come back. Let's say sugar is triggering your acne; the set can help you to reduce it...still, if you keep eating sugar, it will likely come back. Also, back then, The Ordinary put this set together with the mask because they hadn’t had the Salicylic Acid Solution. However, now, the solution is back on the market, which you can use more often than the mask. From my experience, Benzoyl Peroxide works more effective than Salicylic Acid. The Ordinary has a new set that can help with pigmentation; it's called "The Bright Set" use that one. Just keep in mind that if you have Melasma, it won't work. But it can help with dark spots or pigmentation that's still in the skin surface :) Otherwise, you need to visit a doctor and ask for advice.

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Foaming cleanser For normal to oily skin What should I do with niacinamide? I use it regularly

Give your skin more time to adjust to Niacinamide, and you could use it less often or even mix it with your moisturiser to see if that will work better for you. Otherwise, stop using TO Niacinamide or moisturizer for some time to figure out what's causing the bumps.

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Can I use niacinamide just in the evening? And if I wanna mix with moisturizer how can I do it ? Should I mix two drops of niacinamide with moisturizer? Sorry for many questions but I’m so tired of my tiny acnes and bumps I’d be so thankful if u help me 💙

@@runakmustafa12 Yes, that's fine! Use about a pea-sized amount of moisturizer, add 2-3 drops of Niacinamide, mix it in the palm of your hand and then apply it to the skin :)
