How to use the PetSafe Solvit CareLift Dog Lifting Harness

The PetSafe Solvit CareLift™ Full Body Dog Lifting Harness is excellent for assisting pets up stairs, into vehicles, onto furniture, outside for a bathroom break, or to provide some assistance when taking a walk. It's a perfect solution for rehabilitation of dogs after injury or surgery.
The full-body (front+rear) configuration can be comfortably worn full-time to make it easy to assist the pet without the hassle of installing the harness each time it’s needed (great for “emergency” bathroom breaks!)
The unique design of the rear section lifts dogs from both the hips and abdomen, resulting in less stress than similar devices which lift only from either the legs or abdomen.
The abdominal support band suits both male and females. Use the optional specially-shaped protector panel insert for male dogs. For females, simply open the touch fastener pouch of the belly band and remove the insert for a softer, feminine fit.
For males, to ensure that the abdominal support band stays clean and dry during potty breaks, simply unclip the band on the left side and clip it out of the way on the other side of the rear harness.
Five lifting methods are available with the CareLift™ system:
1. Rear lift only, using either the adjustable leash or the comfort-grip handle
2. Front lift only, using the comfort grip handle
3. Full body lift, using the comfort grip handles at front and rear
4. Full body lift, using the adjustable shoulder strap attached to front and rear
5. Full body assist with carry leash handle between the front and rear lift systems
Sizing Information:
Medium size fits dogs 35-70 lbs
Large size fits dogs 70-130 lbs.
Caution: Caregivers, take care of yourself too! To avoid injury, take extreme care when lifting your dog. Beware of weight shift which might result in a loss of balance. Know your limitations. Always lift with your legs, not your back.
Cleaning: The belly band and leg loops are removable and machine washable. Remove male protector insert from belly band and wash it separately in soapy water.

Thank you so much. Our 14 year old lab/Rottie has been losing his back leg use and this week completely can’t. I ordered this from Chewy awhile ago so we were trying to figure it out under duress and all of us, including Clausen, were stressed. I looked up on You Tube how to do this and it helped us like you cannot imagine. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I hate that our baby can’t run, but for him to lose being able to walk is heart breaking enough. This video was a blessing.

We're so glad to hear this. Sadly, our pal Cooper who modeled this has now crossed the Rainbow Bridge. But this harness and other supportive care gave us an extra year-and-a-half length of joyful time with him than our vet expected us to get. He was such a good boy and happy to the end. @@Eifellassie I watched another video and they say simply remove the abdominal support on the back harness when he goes out for the walk. It can easily be taken on and off. I am finding having the two harnesses connected when we go out to be helpful. My dog just has hind leg weakness so having the rear support is important. In order to keep rear harness on, I have it attached to the front harness.

My 12 yr old chihuahua's back legs gave out last month. It was touch & go because she couldn't pee either. For a whole day, we were heartbroken to think of putting her down . We tried steroids & pain meds first and that worked amazingly because within days she was almost back to normal. I can't imagine having a regular sized dog & dealing with these issues but I'm glad these harnesses are out there so these pet owners have options. Thank goodness!

My Angel is 15 in 2 months. Shes a lab/retriever and every now and then she can do a 30mins walk but it takes her 1hr and 30mins. Her back legs struggle a little and I help her buy lifting her bum and she loves it she goes quicker for a while. This is genius I never knew about them. 🎉

A suggestion for dog owners considering the purchase of a lifting harness. A frequent concern I have noticed. Especially if a dog needs to wear one all day, every day. Is their straps can potentially cut into a dog's skin. One woman stated she had to take her dog to the vet. After the dog sustained a cut on its leg from a strap. Later the dog received 10 staples. How a dog got to such a state is suspicious to me. Particularly when she claimed to have removed the harness almost daily. The clever suggestion, I found. Wrap a genuine sheepskin seatbelt cover around the strap. To avoid the potential problem of cuts to your dog. My personal suggestion when purchasing a harness including sheepskin covers. Consider a bigger size harness to accommodate the bulky strap covers. The straps are thick. The sheepskin covers I plan to purchase. Six in total will cost more than the harness alone. Costing approximately $20 for two on Amazon. But I would pay anything for my beautiful, precious, and beloved boxer pupper, "Zerren."

ordered one for my newfy/landseer, waiting for it to arrive. She has trouble going distances with her back legs and a bit of the front too. She's not as coorperative as this big old sweet dog is here though. She didn't walk much as all at the park today. So we'll see when this comes... I have no intention of leaving this on her all the time so she'll have to get used to the on/off prcess.

Sorry, guys, I didn't receive the notification, well worth the purchase, as you can imagine no easy lifting/ assisting a St Bernard but it greatly helped, very easy to use and comfortable for user and most importantly the dog, unfortunately she is no longer with us though

I lost a Corgi mix of 16+ years back in March. :( The landseer Newfie I bought this for didn't take to it well. I discovered I had put it on wrong. lol oops! Using a good soft towel now to keep her back half going and that works pretty good for now even though she hates it and wants to stumble along by herself. stubborn old lady. she has lung cancer also but is happy.

Thank you for not only demonstrating this harness but also for using a dog that actually has rear limb weakness. Most of the videos I've watched use healthy dogs. Those videos were not helpful at all.

Nice harness. But the man doesn’t seem to notice or care that some of the bands are twisted which causes discomfort for the dog. If you do it, do it right or just leave it to others…..

This did not work for my Airedale Terrier. He's worn various harnesses in the past for walks but this one was uncomfortable. He lay down as soon as I put it on him. Also, the belly support goes over his penis. No amount of adjusting changed that. There is no way to keep the rear support clean.

The one I got doesn't look like this. The back straps are attached to the top and are going in the wrong direction for the clasps, and there is no way to take up the belly band without detaching the harness from the rear which means you can't hold the dog up while he pees? WTF is this?

I do not care for the location of the two inner buckles on the rear section. I find that they dig into the legs. The loops the legs go through are narrow in my opinion resulting in too tight of a fit. I’m just not a fan of the narrow straps going around the thighs. Taking the harness on and off is a laborious process imo. We have another harness which is made with neoprene and velcro that is much more comfortable for our dog as it has more surface area supporting the rear end and legs. This is important if you elect to leave it on for an extended period of time. .The dog we are using a harness for is our Pit (60lb, 14yrs old). She is suffering from arthritis and some nerve deficit in the hind legs. This is just my experience and opinion. You may find it works well for you.
