Cannot find the Toyota+Alexa app regardless how I searched. Why?

2018 Prius Prime Advanced with Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra [Android 12] - Alexa worked with the old Entune Android app - the one with the white icon. Recently that has been disabled and the new Toyota app - the one with the red icon with Toyota emblem, has to be used. It works but only when the phone screen is on. If the phone screen is turned off [not the phone, just the screen] or the app is not showing on the screen [active app] it will cease to work. What am I missing? If I turn on the screen or bring the app to the foreground, it will resume proper operation. Why doesn't this operate with the screen off like the old Entune [white icon] did? And, frankly, this Alexa support or connectivity app should not even need to be launched, once run once on the Android phone it should just sit in the background, ready when needed. Or, have it launch automatically when the Android phone connects via Bluetooth to the car [2018 Prius Prime Advanced]. And while I am on my soapbox, it would have been nice to have some explanation why the old app was retired and the new one necessary. I have been a loyal Prius customer since 2008, I'm on my 5th Prius now but getting very frustrated with Toyota and their less than stellar attempts at smart phone integration. There are robust, time proven, applications for smart phone integration to vehicles such as Android Auto & Apple Carplay. Toyota, stop trying to re-invent the wheel. Do what you do best, manufacturer superior autos such as the Prius Prime and get out of the smart phone integration business, where you consistently miss the mark. Use Android Auto to it's fullest on all of your vehicles.

Yeah, that's why it not that great, you have to open the Alexa app each time, that stops, or closes the app you were currently using. Then once you're done with Alexa, you have to open the app you were using to go back to using it again.

Why is it that once I setup my Alexa with the car, everything works great when the app is open. But let’s say I get in the car without the app open and want to listen to regular Bluetooth music PRE setting up alexa, it doesn’t let me because it says Alexa app can’t be found?

I have a 2021 Camry XSE and it only worked once. Every time I have tried to log in after that I end up in this circle of opening the Alexa app the entune then Alexa then entune. Android Auto/Google just works better...just wish it was wireless.

I've owned 4 brand new Toyotas, and all of them have had Bluetooth issues. I like Toyotas in general, but I'm tired of not being able to use my phone in the car. At all times I have a personal Android phone, and a work iPhone. I've tried both, and both have Bluetooth issues. Over the years when I get new phones, all of them have Bluetooth issues in every Toyota car I've ever owned. When I travel and rent cars, my phones work in every other car I drive. I *ONLY* have Bluetooth issues with Toyotas, and have them consistently. Toyota needs to seriously rethink their entertainment systems.

2018 Camry transmission programming is defective. T-SB 0330-17. 2019 Camry same thing. T-SB-0152-19. Unchanged for 2020.

This feature is a safety hazard as it constantly requires the app to be stopped and restarted on the phone in order to get the car to recognize the connection to the phone.

This is all marketing hype. A 2020 Prius Prime Limited cannot run Entune 3.0 Apple car play must be a hardwired USB connection to work at all. No remote services function. The dealers will not tell you this.There is no remote lock/unlock, no remote climate control, no remote charging scheduling...nothing. Alexa can turn your house lights on from the car, but you cannot use Alexa to start your car, or defrost the windows unless you're in it. Dear Toyota, please fix this mess.
