My favorite lure! Not just for trout but for crappie, perch, smallmouth, and bass. I use a float and pop it every few seconds.

Are these used to fish the bottom. Also could they be used in lake, reservoir
@r.j.macready5620
@r.j.macready5620 Жыл бұрын
Not on the bottom for me. Used in only a few of feet to 8' of water near sundown yesterday. 5 bass, 6 crappie, and 1 large pumpkin seed in one hour in a local pond. I rigged it 20" to 22" below the trout magnet bobber. No swivel. Used the green with red flake on a gold trout magnet jig. I think a pack was $1.76 and 4 bobbers for $2.33 at Walmart. Look up online before you go as they are mot at every Walmart near me in Northern Ohio. Ran it down the bank about 3' to 5' out from the bank. With really light twitching motion every 3 seconds while very slowly reeling. Like 3 seconds to make one revolution reeling. You will need an ultra light rod and reel setup. Walmart has a $23.74 rod and reel combo that is awesome. I think it has 2 or 4 pound test. The rod is less that 5', but I was able to cast it 40'.

Yes, they can be used to fish the bottom, I've caught many fish this way... usually when I get to a creek, lake, reservoir, or any body of water I will use one of these to test out and see what may be biting, panfish, bass, trout, etc. You can fish them off a bobber, or any way you like until you find what works for you. Thanks for the comment Graystone 304, for me I usually have success with it on the bottom but sometimes I have to be patient depending on how finicky the trout are. I know some fisherman have success dropping it from a float and letting it run downstream. You could try adding a worm or salmon egg to one to see if that entices the trout?

@@jamminjamyoutdoors i'll have a look! Shortly after buying the trout magnet stuff, I went onto solely fly fishing, but I could sink some of these under an indicator (bobber) on the end of my fly line to see how they do. I primarily fish the provo river, the fish here have seen everything invented to catch fish and are extremely hard to fish now. Its common to go out for 5 or 6 hours and only have 2 fish in the net.

How do you cast this when it’s so light
@jamminjamyoutdoors
@jamminjamyoutdoors 6 ай бұрын
There are a few things you can do. You could use lighter fishing line, like 2-6 lb monofilament line. Your fishing rod and reel should be balanced for casting lighter tackle/lures like this. You can add some split shots or weights to your line about 12 inches above the trout magnet, or you can fish it below a bobber which will give you some casting weight. Does anyone else have any tips? If so, please let us know :)

Does it have to be perfect
@jamminjamyoutdoors

Some fish are picky about the presentation, it helps to have the hook right between the tail to keep it balanced but I'm sure it doesn't have to be perfect to catch some fish.

Thanks for the comments. I think it depends on the location and what the trout in your area are feeding off of. They won't work every time and in every condition but sometimes when the trout are in the mood for them they work well.

U have it on wrong tbh, u gotta bring the hook out right before the split,or else the bunching takes away from performing when the fish want finesse. Not being that person at all, it's all I use besides rooster tails and worms.that body is best at being straight. I wade in the water and cast down behind the tail of the hole. Then slowly bring it up but suspended in the pocket. The straight body really makes a difference in the performance when you want to place it amd keep it suspended near that little tiny spot where they should be.

@@jamminjamyoutdoors we always put 2 wax moths one over the hook completely over the knot, with the tail up and the other below, so they are head to head, but the lower one comes out of the hook 1/2 this works similar to a twister tail. Gives it really that action. Im not really a fan of softbaits in this style, because the fish often let loose before hookset. But you also have those who are really really soft and flavoured and all this, those will probably work but for me i found out that 2 wax moths really do the job. Theres a video in german that shows it kzbin.info/www/bejne/l2HLmKewlqeco5Yfeature=shared , tight lines !

@@jamminjamyoutdoors you can add a tungsten pearl from 0.5g or 1g above the first wax moth held up by 2 little rubber stops, so it sinks for jigging and stuff 👍and remember, you need a very thin hook for this so you wont make blubber from the moth, since they are fragile things. Tight lines!
