really good tutorial. the one waves provided wasnt very good. I dont know why you’d go to the trouble of producing such a well crafted piece of software only to rush the tutorial and leave out information. I think you’re an excellent teacher. Waves should hire you to do their tutorials.

Question- do you recommend mixing in a bus or on each track individual? Would you do a proper routing tutorial ?
@FlyGuyJ3 жыл бұрын
I would recommend doing both. Use plugins on the individual tracks that you want to effect each track separately (nls channel, autotune, etc) and then setup a bus track for each group (lead vocal, background vocals, adlibs, etc) and then have a chain of vocal plugins to effect the group as a whole. If I setup a routing tutorial it will probably be in a future mixing course that I am contemplating putting together. I've been receiving a lot of requests for more in depth learning like this.

this plugin is good especially if you got a generic interface like a Focusrite or just any cheap shit

I can see why you wouldn't want to go all the way up to 12 on the drive. It actually gets a bit annoying to the ears. 4-8 sounds about right, just to add some warmth.
@FlyGuyJ2 жыл бұрын
Yeah you can definitiely over do it, always adjust to taste and mesh with the song
@shawnwaldron89123 жыл бұрын
Does it make sense to use the NLS channel as a first insert pre amp if say you already recorded your vocals through a unison pre amp
@FlyGuyJ3 жыл бұрын
Only if you want to add more saturation then you've already added during the tracking process.

Whats a good level for tracking vocals ? & What meter should i use ?
@FlyGuyJ3 жыл бұрын
Try to aim for an average level of -18dbfs, try to keep the peaks under -6dbfs to make sure you don't clip while recording. You can eyeball the dbfs meter shown on the mixer in pro tools, or whatever DAW you record in, or you can use a VU meter calibrated to 0VU = -18db and try to aim for an average VU of 0. I review the Waves VU meter in the link below... kzbin.info/www/bejne/ambOl2umedNrhMk

you only used half of the plugin and no analogue sum....LOL
@FlyGuyJ2 жыл бұрын
Yes, because I am only using this plugin as a mic preamp to add analog saturation to my vocals. 💎 I am not using this for analog summing!
