Stuart,, this again is a great example of your differential approach. No one else is making this distinction between early lowering of the hands versus late lowering added to the “loading / energising” the club by moving your hands more outwards before downwards. I’m guessing this is still enabled by body rotation versus independent hand & arm action only. A kind of reverse rotation. The educated amongst us do know this outward move is helpful to shallowing the club shaft in the downswing (which is a good thing). We have all been told this directly causes an out to in swing plane. But you are showing it doesn’t have to provided you at the right time start moving / pulling in your words your hands downwards and inwards. So as always I guess it’s the blending of this more outward looking/ feeling happening earlier which sets you up perfectly to be able to really benefit from an explosive downward swinging of the arms and hands together which created the magic. The holy grail of golf a club face that squares automatically so long as you have a great grip. And Yes Stuart I also just watched your excellent Essential Grip Guide, which complements release motion. I’m slowly beginning to understand how different your approach is and yet how absolutely solid this methodology when followed in all its Technicolor glory is absolutely spot on. The reason you don’t have many more followers is because initially it’s hard to imagine you’re not another hapless enthusiast because it’s so different. But I’m beginning to realise you’re actually not describing a completely different golf swing at all. You’re describing the same modern golf swing but in a different sequencing of the downswing and in a unique way relative to the down forces your method applies to the handle. The differences seem really big and therefore scary initially hence the disbelievers / key board warriors. I can understand why your method does not rely so much on tucking in the trail elbow and excessive side bend to reach the golf ball. You would rather see most golfers set up correctly to the golf ball by improving their address position and having a decent golf grip. You would prefer to address the root courses of problems rather than the symptoms of problems. A fantastic example being the garbage so many instructors talk about the need to laterally Move the lead knee closer towards the target in transition. In your words, absolute garbage. You explain this in your (the technique you need to know for unleashing leg action / leg action power Move) lead knee video which explains the correct backswing leads to both a flex / bend forward knee but also most importantly followed by allowing the lead knee to be pulled around behind the ball / slightly inwards to allow the hip rotation. Then the downswing ground forces naturally takes care of the knee as you post up and move into extension on your lead side. So zero need to think or actually try to pull the lead knee target wise in transition which would very quickly cause serious knee injury. On a much deeper closer analysis the differences are more subtle and yet very significant. This current video is the perfect example, no one else out there is talking about the significance of whether you move your hands down later or earlier. No one ! The very best are explaining the downswing is a combination of the body rotation (the out) and the hands falling being the down. So yes the very best explain it’s a combination. What you just did was to say hey everyone out there I’m going one step further. I’m sticking my neck out and doing & explaining differently. You need to do the outward part before you do the down part because it gives you the opportunity in your unique downswing release methodology to energise the swinging of the club down and through impact and all this using a modern body rotation. / pivot methodology which we all can buy into. Which in fact is now universally accepted. So another terrific golf instructional video but this time one that is best understood when you have the broader context of your 30 Second It’s like Cheating (Broom video first ). Myles

Another great video ! I guess I would the the golfer under the “utter tripe” category as I definitely lower early and from the inside and a high finish😂. That said, I am trying to experiment and this is a great explanation . I am struggling though as a late lowering and outward movement seems to lead to an over the top and over the plane swing? What can I do to better manage the handle and get that nice AoA and draw??

Starting to be firm believer, trying to undo or erase mind maps of motions and conceptions. Watching your demonstration, one can see a Raymond Floyd motion of compensation. So if we have hours upon hours of practices we can make any swing repeat. Seems. most instruction is based “on plane return “relative to set up, but almost all ends up with higher hands at and thru impact. Your discussion of set up is focused on more 90 vs the 45 angles we have all been advised. Look like better geometry and good coaching….😊

I got a lot from that Stu. Great overview. I struggle with being too flat and laid off, so will try to feel lift of the hands a touch later and see if it improves. I’ve always found that I get flat because I want to feel where the club is (with its weight sitting in my trail hand and flat). When I swing it best and more upright in the backswing it feels like I’m out of control because the shaft is more in balance/standing up therefore I feel like I don’t know where it is gonna go as I transition. What’s challenging for me is that the feel of this is ‘no feel’ so I fall back into the habit of laying it off so I know where the shaft is but then have poor mechanics. Any tips welcome 🙏🏻
@GoodGolfCoaching Жыл бұрын
If you are flat Chris, delay the arm lift as late as possible, this will fix you. Irrespective of what the club head does, take the handle as deep as possible in the early phase of your golf swing. Hope that makes sense. Best wishes Stu

Sorry but I do not agree with the explanation of a one plane swing. As I understand it the plane is not effectively parallel to the ground but instead angled roughly 90 degrees to the angle of the spine or possibly the club shaft at address with the idea that the club shaft always swings along that plane - never really dived into exactly what it is because I am sure there is a reason so few players use. Apart from that an excellent video - yet again. For me the difficult part to visualise is in transition - I have no idea whether I get the arms out then down or if I do whether I do it enough (a subject for another lesson I think!)
