Thank you Seth! Now that my work has gone to a work-from-home situation for the next two weeks I was going to look at doing exactly that for our Zoom meetings. This will make it much easier since when I did a quick search I found pieces that were a couple of years old and with speed of technology I figured there were options.

Hey Seth thanks for this video. Would be great to see what settings you put into your Nikon and OBS. I am having a frustrating time connecting my Nikon D7500-miniHDMI-BlackmagicUltraStudioMiniRecorder-Thunderbolt-PC/MAC. I keep getting a black/blank screen regardless of what settings I use. Not sure if the D7500 is capable of using webcam at this point.

Funny I had that issue as well and hitting menu then shutter then menu then shutter a few times kick started the feed it of the hdmi. The BMD is a finicky piece sometimes it doesn’t wanna talk to all Camera brands and axtuwlly stopped working with my Z6 after I updated the firmware in it so I moved to camlink. Zero issues
@chisng4 жыл бұрын
@@LastXwitness funny you said that bc I pressed the shutter to take a photo and the livescreen suddenly appeared. Never been able to get it again bc I didnt know what I actually did to get it to appear that time. I've only had the livefeed appear once and I've not had any luck getting it back. I might try your "hack" and see if that helps. Otherwise, ill have to release my BMD into the market at cost (its selling way above retail at the moment due to lack of supply) and try get my hands on an elgato camlink.

I had to keep a glass of ice water on top of the Cam Link to keep it from overheating. Sometimes I would have to plug-and-replug until I got something besides a solid color field. It turns out there's an opensource app that can connect Canon cameras over USB now. Ima try that out.

I havent had any over heating issues with the Cam Link so far and I use it with multiple set up as well as work with colleague who use it no issues but of course theres a ton of variables from what camera and computer set up your using even some hdmi cables can just be bad and hurt the flow of data. either way the reason i didnt discuss the apps is most of them only work for PC no mac and most of them only do 720 with no sound.. not 1080 or 4k and also include sound so just be aware of that depending on your needs

Been using the Camlink 4k myself but it can be a tad fussy I find. With a 5D Mark IV you can get false colour but it can be cleared with a few camera power cycles. Not sure if the Camlink I got is a pup or not. Once I can get back to my studio I will do some testing on it. I did find this thing today which may be of interest to you as you grow your channel. www.blackmagicdesign.com/uk/products/atemmini Fancy bit of kit. Thank you Seth. Stay safe.

Sometimes the cable can be bad. Or some brand cables don’t have a good physical fit causing that. Not to mention some hdmi cables aren’t for certain resolutions and the longer the cable the weaker the signal. Also hdmi cables degrade over time faster than others
