@@ACatholicWife I think you basically covered it all. The part I came back to was the Offertory and how if you turn up to mass after it then you don’t meet Sunday Obligation. Earlier I replied to some people on Twitter about it and I remember you saying something about it in this video over a year ago so I came back to it for clarification. I have watched numerous videos on the 62 Missal but never one that explained it so well as yours does. It’s simple, it’s structured and it’s everything you need to know about how to use it and when to use it. It’s just an awesome video and one I don’t think that needs changing.

I am 75 years old. I grew up with the Latin Mass and I miss it. Back then I knew the prayers in Latin, English and French. There is a Church in my home town that has the Latin Mass, but unfortunately it is not handicapped accessible. I was an Altar Server for ten years, and before my disability I continued serving as Eucharistic Minister, Lector and Altar Server. May God Bless you and shower you Mercy and His undying Love.

I have really enjoyed this video, thank you! If I may offer some advice (or words of comfort) to those coming from the Novus Ordo Mass and experiencing the TLM for the first time...it takes a bit of time to get used to the 'rhythm' of the Mass. Meaning, at your first TLM, you'll probably feel a bit confused, disoriented and even lost. Everyone feels this way in the beginning! Don't be concerned about this. I guarantee you that after attending a TLM a few more times, you'll be able to follow along with everyone else. Initially, this is a learning experience, but the beauty of it all is that you are learning to worship Our Lord as He instituted millennia ago, and as you continue to do so, you will soon find a burning desire within yourself to love him, serve him and worship him even more, and you will find it to be a fire lit within you that cannot be put out!

I drive an hour to mass each week and usually arrive in the middle of the previous mass. This gives me time to pray a rosary or other prayers and prepare to enter for my regular mass. Also, I wait for the priest to exit and for the organist to stop playing before I leave. As for a prayer of thanks I say it when I return to my seat after communion, thanking God for all the angels and saints, the priests of the parish and all the families and their children who prayed for me when I was diagnosed with cancer. I wouldn't be here without their prayers.

@Maria I am so happy that you’re going to your second TLM 😍 I had both feelings of joy and sadness when we discovered the aTLM. Joy because it was as if I was seeing EVERYTHING about Christ’s Church with brand new eyes and pure sadness when I realized how much after being Catholic all my life that I didn’t know about the faith when we discovered the Tridentine Mass. Now I’m so excited to learn as much as I can and share what I have figured out. Are there any particular topics you’d like to see me cover - my list of video ideas is reaching the absurd at this point 🤷🏻♀️ but I’m always interested in hearing what my viewers want to see. The Latin Mass transformed my life and my faith. I’m so thankful to the Lord for this gift and I will continue to do whatever I can to promote the TLM ♥️ Pax Christi ~ Deena

@@ACatholicWife I agree, both joy and sadness but overall...joy! I’m not sure if you’ve covered this topic already, you probably have and it may seem minute but I’m not certain when it’s appropriate to veil and unveil. Definitely during Mass but should women veil immediately upon entering Church? It’s the little details for me. Appropriate attire is important to me also, such as knee length skirts vs calf/ankle length. Again, they may seem minute but I spend a lot of time thinking about these things and much more. Amazing how in a span of a couple of weeks my eyes and mind have opened to how much I’ve offended our Lord. Again, thank you and God Bless. Edit: I just watched your video on VEILING, you pretty much covered my concerns on that topic. I had no idea married women wore black veils, thanks for saving me on that one! I’ve been desiring to veil and praying on it for a long time now but didn’t want to seem “prideful”, or as some in the parish have said, “too pious” because we refuse to receive the Lord in our hands. Thank God for the Latin Mass. ❤️
@fidelisetverus3 жыл бұрын
@@Maria-lynn I used to be so self conscious pretty much about many things, but I've learned that as long as I'm dressed modestly, appropriately for Mass, I couldn't care less what anybody else's may think or say. I go to Mass to praise and reverence God and pay Him due honor and to not worry about the opinions of others. After all, He's the One Who's going to judge me in the end. Besides, veiling helps a woman practice the virtues of Obedience and Humility. Obedience because the woman follows what is asked of her to pay respect to God in His house, and Humility because it helps to keep her anonymous so she doesn't take the attention away from God - same as with dressing modestly when attending Mass. I hope that helps you. 🙏😊

Guilt then takes over me because I think it disrespectful to pay more attention to the order of the readings, than the mass ritual itself. Because I felt disgust and disillusionment with the 1969 Novus Ordo mass IMMEDIATELY when it was promulgated, I did not stick around to get familiar with it operationally. I saw that it was junk and perfidy, and I just walked out on it without delay. Since at that time I was not singing in a church choir, there was no special consideration to keep me in linel in fact, I was soon back out of the Romish Church and back in the loving arms of Anglicanism and Lutheranism, which were my starting points in life. Out I went. So, I remembet to the details the 1962 and 1965 Roman Missal Mass forms, but am rather at a loss at the Novus Ordo, to which I have a deep aversion and mental block that will not budge.

I just got my Missal, I'm not catholic but I'm studying how the prayers and rituals feel in my daily life as a solo practioner. I've been doing this with a deep dive of every religion I've studied so far as to understand the lifestyle and teachings of the religions and how they could help me in my life. I was refused baptism in the Christiaan organization that I grew up in and I haven't ever had the heart to go back to another organization because it was actually traumatizing instead I'm studying religions in depth so I can help others with religious trauma know their faith more fully. And the only way to help them know their faith more fully is to practice their faith. I'm still really confused about where the dates come in though if your following along the calender year. I started doing the Liturgy of the hours and that was just as confusing but it had morning prayers, day prayers, and night prayers. Is this book souly for mass? Or is this like the Liturgy of the hours where it has a system like that with the praying and such. I know many people have likened the mass to a Giant prayer as you partake in Jesus body. So I'm just curious if this book is to be used in with other books like you do, or if it's its own entity of the Church if that makes since. Thanks for showing where to sit kneel and stand in the book. I marked those as well in my book.

I have the red missal but I haven't gone to the TLM since the 90s. I want to go but it's far away from me...maybe I'm just too lazy. Where do you go?

@M5guitar1 thank you for watching my video 🙂 we travel anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5 hrs each way to attend the Tridentine Mass. How far would you have to travel? Pax Christi~ Deena

Hi Deena. I am from India. I love the content that you share on your youtube channel. Keep up the great job your doing 😊 I wanted a help from you. Do you have a PDF version of St Joseph missal or St Andrew missal? It's not available in my country (as mostly all catholic bookstores have modern books) neither I have access online to purchase. If you want I can share my email ID. I badly need a Latin Mass missal. Even if I get a PDF version of the above two missals I can take a printout. Could you help me with it?

@Justin Joseph thank you so much for watching my video! I found this PDF of the TLM missal - hope it’s helpful. bibleandbookcenter.com/read/st-joseph-sunday-missal/ Do you have the ability to purchase from Amazon in your country? Pax Christi ~ Deena

@@ACatholicWife Thank you so much Deena! 😊 I do not have access to purchase from amazon currently because of the pandemic. Can you download books from the above site which you have linked?

@Justin Joseph you’re most welcome 🙂 What country are you in that doesn’t have delivery? Are you not able to purchase items online? I’m in America so this concept is completely foreign to me. I believe you can download the missal from the source provided.

@@ACatholicWife I'm from India. Here online services are closed due to pandemic. However in normal circumstances also I can't order since they show that missals are out of stock. In our country, there are many catholic bookstores all over but they do not have stuff related to latin mass. Even for the missal only the newer version is available. Now because of the pandemic everything is shut down.

@ACatholicWife actually tabbing mine the way you did because I'm a cradle Catholic in N.O. and only recently began T.L.M. Wish I knew these were still a thing I always thought growing up that as the centuries passed the languages changed with it but clearly that was never the case. Thanks again for this!

My comment does not seem to be going thru - did you ever hear of the new missal Benedictus?
@ACatholicWife3 жыл бұрын
@Bob Bungo yes! I have heard of the new missal - I subscribed! I won’t use this for Mass as I love my missal but think it’s a fantastic option for someone who is new or someone who doesn’t want to invest in a proper missal ♥️

Deena, we have incense at every Missa Cantata, during the Kyrie and at the Offertory. Does your parish only use it at a Solemn High?
@ACatholicWife3 жыл бұрын
@Linda Jane thank you for watching my video 😁 We almost always have the Low Mass at our “regular” parish and obviously no incense is used. When we travel 1.5 hours to attend the High Mass - we have incense used in both the Missa Solemnis & Missa Cantata (but not during the Kyrie). Pax Christi ~ Deena

@@ACatholicWife So at High Mass the altar in incensed only once during the Offertory? I'm just curious to see how or if things are done differently in other parishes. Also, our pastor (I go to an FSSP parish) has told us a couple of times that we are not to bow to the priest; one should only bow to the bishop. One more thing: do you have the second confiteor before Holy Communion? I know it's not in the 62 missal, but we do it at our parish.
@ACatholicWife3 жыл бұрын
@LindaJane thank you for sharing your experience with me 🙂 Our bishop doesn’t celebrate the Latin Mass and I’ll continue to bow to the priest who is offering us the Mass. I don’t see anything wrong with showing reverence to those who are above us. Pax Christi ~ Deena

I use my 1961 edition St Joseph Continuous missal from my childhood at the TLM. Although it's in english, it follows the mass.......just as it did when I was a child.

What is the difference in a low and high mass? I've heard this term when listen to info on the Latin mass and am so confused?
@ACatholicWife3 жыл бұрын
@Mallory Brant no problem! Hope this helps ... *Low Mass* - no music for the ordinary or propers of the Mass - no deacon or subdeacon - two candles are lit upon the altar - no incense - one or two servers *Missa Cantata* ("sung Mass") - the Ordinary and Propers are chanted (i.e. the Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Agnus Dei, the Epistle and Gospel, introit, gradual, etc.) - no deacon or subdeacon - incense may be used - more servers permitted; e.g. two acolytes (candles), thurifer (censer), torchbearers (for consecration), Master of Ceremonies - Rite of Asperges may be done (the sprinkling rite prior to Mass) - four or six candles lit *Solemn Mass* - musically the same as a Missa Cantata - incense is used - Deacon and Subdeacon present - six candles lit - subdeacon chants epistle; deacon chants gospel - the ceremonial passing of the Kiss of Peace is present in the ceremonial - acolytes, thurifer, torchbearers used - Rite of Asperges may be done There are different two main types of Latin Masses, Low and High. And there are different sorts of High Masses: Low Masses (Missa Privata): the priest isn't assisted; no part of the Mass is sung (but hymns may be sung as priest enters and exits, and during the Offertory or Communion); incense isn't used; only two candles are lit. The Low Mass is usually seen for daily Masses, but it's sometimes offered on Sundays, too. It's a much quieter and much less impressive affair than the High Mass, but even it is more dignified and reverent than the Novus Ordo. High Mass (Missa Cantata): the celebrant is not assisted by a deacon or subdeacon; some parts of the Mass are chanted or said aloud, all sung parts of the Mass are sung by the choir or a cantor; incense may be used; six candles are lit. This is likely the most commonly Sunday Masses offered by most traditional priests. Solemn High Mass (Missa Solemnis): celebrant is assisted by a deacon and subdeacon; all parts of the Mass that are said aloud are chanted; all sung parts of the Mass are sung by a choir; incense is used; six candles are lit. Pontifical High Mass: celebrated by a Bishop. In addition to the six candles which are lit, another candle is lit to symbolize the Bishop's office. A Mass offered by the Pope (the Bishop of Rome) is a Pontifical High Mass called a "Papal Mass". Pax Christi ~ Deena Source: Fisheaters
