Very informative video and good for a beginner! I'm more of a shavette guy but nothing can beat a steel straight when it comes to comfort. I urge all of my friends to dump their cartridge garbage razors and teaching them how to use a DE razor, so far I'm quite successful and as you can imagine they're all (and their wallets) thankful to me. Straight razor shaving is the manliest shave you can have, keep it up!

Ozzy keep up the good work brother! ;) Yeah, Buddy the more people we can get away from those cartridge razors the better! Thanks so much for your great comment and encouragement, and thanks for watching! :) Have a good day, take care and stay safe my friend! :) #Heart

From overseas, first i thank you for your smile and your wonderful way of explaining. Indeed, your method and style makes me return strongly to a straight razor shave!! Yes, I despaired and frustrated with restoring the sharpness. I had a bad shave and a flaming face a few days ago!! Which made me ask for help next time from the safety razor and DE blade !!Today (our time) I watched this video. I liked your simple language away from the complexities. I threw the sticky tape away. I applied what you said with my Dovo carbon 5/8 (with the difference stone) I used Norton1/4/8K and Naniwa 12k addition to the leather strop . I did a quick shave ,The result was great!! With a sharp and ready to shave razor!I couldn't believe it brought me back the classic shave! Thank you, worth following and I would to accepting me as a friend.

I have the Naniwa SUPERSTONES do I have to soak them every time I hone one of my blades?
@AdventuresInWetShaving3 жыл бұрын
Great question Mike! ;) The Naniwa SuperStones are designed by Naniwa to be a splash and go stone, so get it wet and keep it wet while you're honing no need to soak them. Thanks for your great question and thanks for watching! :) Have a good day, take care and stay safe my friend! :) #Heart

The nail method is the perfect method to test a bevel in my opinion. And seeing if it cuts hair all along the blade. I don’t think the hang hair test when you are finished is not a definitive test because I have some razors that shave great that does not pass the hanging hair test
@AdventuresInWetShaving2 жыл бұрын
Great point Mike! ;) Yeah, Buddy the HHT seems to work for some people. But to check the bevel the wet thumbnail method will give you a more complete edge condition test, and Tree-Topping hairs halfway up the hair have always worked best for me over the HHT! Thanks for your great comment and thanks for watching! :) Have a great day, take care and stay safe my friend! :) #Heart

@@AdventuresInWetShaving I am a sub teacher and I have had the middle school talk to me about my shaving channel because some parent or parents complained and that I was encouraging them to see it. I told the principal that these kids are computer savvy and I can't stop them. However, I said it should be treated like a history listen as to how men used to shave in the 18 and 1900's. Similar, to a blacksmith plying his trade. I have to figure out how to change my settings that only certain people can view my channel. Anyway, I can't help it if I am popular with the middle and high schoolers who think it is cool to use a straight razor. I just wanted to clue you in to the name change so that you know it is me. You have many subscribers so I don't expect you to remember me if I changed the name without letting you know who it is.
@AdventuresInWetShaving4 жыл бұрын
Joseph, I totally get it brother! ;) The setting you're looking for is in KZbin Studio on your computer near the lower left in the menu, look for "Settings". In "Setting" go to "Channel" and then "Advanced setting" and in the "Do you want to set your channel as made for kids?" section click on "No, set this channel as not made for kids. I never upload content that's made for kids". That should help my friend. I hope you have a great weekend! :) #Heart

Hi Eric, Thanks so much for sharing these informative videos. One question, is the water your using mixed with glycerin or water by itself??
@AdventuresInWetShaving3 жыл бұрын
Great question Joe! ;) I will use water by itself to keep the stones wet. Remember synthetic stones will need to be soaking and then keep wet while honing. Where ceramic stones are a splash and go, just get them wet and keep them wet while honing. I have used glycerin in the water in the past and found using just water by itself works just fine. Thanks for your great comment and encouragement, and thanks for watching! :) Have a good weekend, take care and stay safe my friend! :) #Heart
