jesus Christ i needed this so bad man. you just saved me alot of money. i had a 2070 super and had all my settings maxed and the game ran like shit. so i returned it and bought a MSi 2080 super. 3 weeks ago. Instead of setting it to oculas rift set it to open GL that way itll open up with steam. Itll give you way more headroom, and also go into the settings of steam and upgrade the resolution per eye. The results are uncanny

Thanks for this guide, After these settings I was running 45 FPS solid until I checked the regular Assetto Corsa video settings. Make sure you tic those too! experiment. I am able to get 80 FPS solid on high settings. Good enough for me haha

@@Tiwey Help with what? Getting my G2 to be able to run at 90FPS or being able to run my 8Kx on 90FPS without having to disable PP? When I first installed Sol and custom manager I was getting 90 FPS but then I tried another filter and it dropped to about 45. When I went back to using sol, I was still getting 45 FPS so I uninstalled everything including AC and reinstalled everything and started with Sol but this time it was even worse, getting frame rates in the 30's so I uninstalled it and then disabled PP. Frame rates went back to 90 FPS, the picture and colours are better so I have left it disabled. Thanks for the suggestion, I might try it when I have time. Do you have to download the VR filter or does it appear as part of the Sol package in the drop down list in Content manager?

@@2Old4Forza I tried it and it marginally improved my FPS but not enough to keep it above 60 with more than 8 cars on track. It's a clear CPU bottleneck since dropping the resolution to 1920x1080 and low settings gets me the same 50fps during the Assetto Corsa benchmark. For some reason my MAIN T usage is pinned at above 90% at all times so I'm guessing that is what is causing the issue. I have searched online everywhere and couldn't really find any sort of fix. Keep in mind other people get over 60fps while playing Assetto Corsa with the same CPU and way slower GPUs.

Hi! Nice tips you provided. I tried your suggetions, the Asssetto Corsa Video settings worked, but the CSP that you sugest to disable, actually I get more FPS with those settings enabled. To be honest, I don't really know which CSP option makes me get more FPS, but if I follow your tips, I get about 50 fps with 10 cars on track while with CSP options enabled I get at least 70. So, thank you for your help, it really made a difference to the performance with almost no visual impact in VR. PS.: Take in consideration that we are now in 2020, maybe the newer CSP version (I use 0.1.63-preview47) is more optimized than the one at the time of the video recording. Cheers :)

Okay i have a question real quick. I recently got a rift s just to try it for simracing. I have a gtx 1080 with a ryzen 5 2600x, 16gb ram at 3000mhz. I use online servers for nords as a benchmark because thats the wost case scenario i think? Well anyways i have absolutely put everything on low or even off like reflections exept antialiasing at 4x sol and shaders patch off, but i still cant get solid 80fps for the rift s. Is it just that nords is badly optimised or is there something wrong with my pc? Or is that the expected outcome of my combination? Im just really confused because i see vids on youtube of people racing nords on high settings and 90fps on the rift with the same configuration that i have. Vr is amazing for simracing but i dont know if its worth to give up shaders patch and sol and 144hz for it. your system should run a rift S just fine in AC..how many FPS do you get in single player? how many players in the online server when you are testing? nordschlife is not poorly optimized I also use it as a benchmark

The ingame benchmark gives me an average of 120fps its just that whenever i drive nords ASW pretty often kicks in and i find that very distracting as im used to 144hz. I tried it with ASW off and the dips are ussually as low as 50-60 fps.

if you are super sampling in steam VR make sure pixel density in game is 1.0 your system should eat AC alive....also make sure you are not using MODS with no LODs (many of the drift mods are not made well and run like crap)

Running Q2 and a 3060 with i712700. When I run a benchmark test, I see 475 fps, but when I run through my headset (via link) with in-game framerate tool. I see 50 fps. Does this even make sense? Thanks so much this has made assetto corsa unbelievably good in the rift s for me. Hardly any jaggies n shimmer awesome. Only thing I have been noticing lately is the track is blurry more noticeable on white lines n yellow lines any idea what causes this??? It's as if it's blurry til about say 25 yards before bonnet then it goes clear. It's kinda annoying as hell as everything else is perfect. Do u think it may be render frames??????? It could be related to speed and fine detail blurring or you can increase pixel.density but it will absolutely impact fps

Found out my problem with this it was antiscopic filter u need to set that to x16 in the graphics card setting gets rid of blurring that occurs with lines in vr. Assetto corsa is so realistic in vr now seriously no other game compares.

Make sure you dont have a controller or flight stick hooked up via usb when using your wheel. I had that problem when I forgot to un plug my flight rig.

great question, that setting is for the monitor not the VR head set, I run the head set with a framerate cap of 90 with my reverb in CM. 91 worked well with CV1 but reverb is much better at 90 for some reason.

Did these settings not help? Make sure you start with pixel.density at 1.0 and no super sampling applied in oculus software

@@tobyax if you have not messed with anything they you are probably at 1.0 for super sampling, but oculus de bug tool is the best way to set up super sampling and ASW for oculus

Right I’m getting over 100fps at 1080p but only 40 with my rift s, with dips to below that. I’m on a 1060. do I legit have to spend a kidney on something faster?

the rift S 2550x1440 resolution and VR is more demanding than flat screens do i hate to say it. But its probably GPU time. Try this place if you call (and are in the USA) they can usually get you one pretty quick, I know a few people who got them here. secure.jncs.com/php2/index.php

@@2Old4Forza I’m from Germany. We got a big-ish retailer in the form of mindfactory, with stock available not continuously but pretty often, but the prices are a tad higher. Gunna have to buy a GPU for sure the 1060 was a midrange gpu four whopping years ago, but wow paying 550€ for a 3060 or 700€ for a Ti seems so wrong. In better times that was 80 tier money😐 Keep weighing the pros and cons and I think I’ll relearn to drive in 2d till the 40 series comes out

Hello! Would you know what the proper Frame Time would be for a Rift S? Im also getting random game stutters, both online and offline. It randomly happens in both small tracks and big tracks.

great question frame timing really is the critical factor. for 90 FPS its 11.1ms...the rift S is a 80 FPS headset so I imagine frame time is around 12.X MS but I dont know the exact #. I would think a quick search could answer that for you....or you can post in our discord lots of rift S users there what will know :)

@@ItsMarkBernardo does it do it with just you on the track? If it only happens with loads of cars on track its probably a CPU issue, but I dont think a 3700 would be a problem at all on AC for "normal" grid sizes and tracks

Hi! Do you encounter lagging on multiplayer with CSP version 0.168? Before updating to 0.168 (0.160) I got solid 60fps (with vsync and frame cap) with PP on and off. Now I only got around 45-50fps. Is there any solution to this? I needed the latest CSP version for my mods (cars, tracks) and Sol. Thanks in advance.

Ok so I tried that (first it didn't appear on the FTH/State but when I launch the game, it is there, I also added acs.exe to ExceptionList and did a full restart) + I disabled some unneeded VFX (Brake Disc, Extra FX, Fake Shadows, Particles, Reflections, Shadowed Wheels, Skidmarks, Smart Mirrors + Shadows, Tyres FX, Windscreen FX, and changing Controller and Weather script to default). I am now happy to say that I get 55-59 (sometimes 60) average, before it was averaging 45fps. Since I don't want framerate fluctuations affecting the stability of my gameplay, I set framelimit to 57. Thank you so much for your help! Earned a sub from me.

@@robertstrobel7338 for sure! once you get shaders patch installed and working, then install SOL 1.3.1 and you should be good. so strange that your CM does not make installing shaders patch super easy...for everyone else its 1 click.

@@JEFFCURRYTV you should be able to hold 90 with that set up and these settings (with pixel density at 1.0 as you dont need to super sample the reverb). make sure you are not applying any super sampling. If you FPS locked at 45? or does it float around?

@@JEFFCURRYTV double check your steam VR super sampling, make sure its as close to 2160x2160 as possible and ensure you are at a pixel density of 1.0 in AC video settings. If that is good turn down the things I recommend turning down such as world details, reflection quality, shadows, mirrors, ect until you hold 90 most of the time.

@@2Old4Forza i play on shutoku. I get like 30ms latency. I have tried everything thats available on racedepartment and youtube. Nothing helps. I get 50fps when i park with 15ish latency but goes down to 30fps and 30 latency.
