@@مالينوامستغانم Hi friend, with the old engines you will have an issue with the engine mount bracket, you will have to make something up. the old engine mounts at the back of the block and on the newer engines they mount from the timing belt side.

Hello mate do you have a video for replacement of the head? I mean It's more the method of taking the manifold off at the back. It's got a crack on it and needs replacing too.
@RestoDesignsnando Жыл бұрын
Hi dude, I don't at the moment, but I know your pain, the lower bolt on cylinder number 3 you can't get a socket on it. I use a MAC Tools 6 sided 12mm spanner or Wrench I you're from north America.

@RestoDesignsnando happy new year!! Thanks for reply. I'm in East Sussex UK. OK no worries. I guess I could just attempt to cut the manifold out with an angle grinder to seperate it from the pipe. Il give it a bash soon. The golf is in the garage so It's kind of a long term project. I hope to get a refurbished head or second hand one. And new manifold as this one is blowing. Keep you posted

Hello, thanks for the video... is the abf a non interference ingine in case something goes wrong with the belt?
@RestoDesignsnando2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, the ABF and all 16V engines are 100% interference once the timing belt breaks, the inlet valves will hit 100% then the key way in the cam pulley will break off and spin in an attempt to save the exhaust valves/engine.

@RestoDesignsnando3 жыл бұрын
The 1.6 or 1.4 16V engine from the 6N1.... I am not 100% it does fit due to the block to gearbox mounting, Polo blocks have the starter motor on the rear and the same looking engines in the mk4 have the 020 rod gearbox with the starter motor at the front.

Good day. Im from SA and im also driving a 16valve KR enjin. Kjetronic system still. Is it a bother to look at the Crank mark and TDC if the flywheel is on its mark? The no1 piston is at tdc and the crank mark is pointing upwrds on my car. But my car is idling bad. I noticed that the distributor is turned max(advanced) to get the enjin running/idling. I missing something becos i know you dont have to turn that much on the dustributor even if the idling is bit low.
@RestoDesignsnando2 жыл бұрын
Hi there, check the bolt holes where the distributor bolts into, as they are 4 bolt holes. maybe try that's why it seems like you are at max. Try that.

Hello friend, I think that the tenser must be turned on the other side ( to the top and not to the down). I am sure for the TDI but for ABF I am not really sure.
@RestoDesignsnando3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, yes you are right, on TDI's you turn the tensioner clockwise, on the ABF the tensioner has a little arrow anticlockwise 👍🏼

I've seen a few people in the US with ABF's also a guy on here (KZbin) is making an ABF clone using old PL 16v bits and ABA 8V tall block engine. All you'd then need is the injection side of things from Europe, inlet, fuel rail, loom and ECU.

Sorry to hear that mate, yes the ABF don't play when it comes to its 60K limit, had I new car with 61K break on me, the inlet valves will need replacing and the cam timing belt pulley as the woodruff key beaks off as well.

@@RestoDesignsnando mate it’s so depressing Isn’t it, I actually bought my PAS brackets from you last year. When I am fitting the new cambelt to my new engine do I need to replace anything else with it ?
@RestoDesignsnando3 жыл бұрын
@@i4Detailing The exhaust valves get saved due to the cam pulley woodruff key breaking, 8x inlet valves, you maybe as well replace all 16v valve seals, check the valve guides for wear, light skim on the head, MLS head gasket, timing belt, cam pulley if the woodruff key has broken and tensioner.

for the real vw geeks. Seat also had an 1.8 16v called ADL. it was in an ibiza gti instead of an cupra with the ABF
@RestoDesignsnando3 жыл бұрын
Yes that is right, the early Seat Ibiza 16V 94/95 was a 1.8 16V known as ADL, did a eaton supercharger on one once, it's basically a PL but on ABF style injection, for the real 16v geeks, the differences between ABF and ADL system was the injection wasn't sequential due to no cam sensor, as the ADL block had no crank sensor, only the hall sensor in the distributor (ABF uses crank sensor and one window sensor in the dizzy) and the inlet manifold was slightly small with last volume.
@scott27793 жыл бұрын
@@RestoDesignsnando is the inlet really smaller? I have on myself and want to do some bolt on upgrades. Maybe you have some tips and tricks?
@RestoDesignsnando3 жыл бұрын
@@scott2779 yes the rear part of the manifold is slightly small where the throttle body is, well the first thing is the ADL uses PL/9A cams, so you have two opinions, fit a KR inlet (as ADL PL 9A all have the same exhaust cams as the KR) or fit both inlet & exhaust cams from an ABF.
@RestoDesignsnando3 жыл бұрын
Then look at getting a euro style group N manifold, if you check out the Golf mk3.5 cab ABF project I did a year ago, I show this manifold in detail.
