Carrie Rad I want to wake up early to have more time before the kids wake up so I can blog / get my creative thoughts together for YT videos I’ve got in mind. I don’t know about you, but I’ve always got so many ideas running through my head and I need to get my bedtime discipline down so I’ll have time to gets those thoughts on paper in the am!

Hi Carrie, do you also wake up at 5:30 on the weekends? I normally wake up at 6:30 every day so I have a couple of hours for me before going to work but on the weekends I feel like sleeping in. Do you wake up at the same time every day of the week? Thanks! Loved the video!

Another tip that I find helps is to keep water by your bed, and as soon as your alarm goes off, chug some. Try and keep the water as cold as you can too (put ice in before bed or something). It REALLY does help. It shocks your body or something. Not totally sure how it works, but it works.

I’ve always been a morning person. I’ve always been always told how young I look. When I was 30 people thought I was 20. I am now 50 and people think I am 30. I don’t think people realize how important sleeping and “resting “ too is. Start young cause your body is going to go through so many changes later on in life. Healthy life and self care 💯. Carrie I love the content you’re doing, especially this summer. I’m not trying to knock it, but wanted to give some feedback. My suggestion is that you could include someone in the videos you’ve done lately that is a parent, has a office job they have to go to, are going to school, or something along those lines. I mention this because you’re fortunate to have a more flexible schedule that allows for more of these things than the typical person.

I think it’s fine to also have a later day as well, there’s a article about famous CEO’s and other successful people that do not have a early morning routine. It’s just a social construct, whatever works for you, do you, it’s possibly to have your best life being a night owl, don’t feel like a bad person bc you’re not a morning person as I see that self shaming in the comments. Think of nurses and doctors they’re getting important work done at all hours.
@TheHannahLovely

I love this! I used to be THE WORST in the mornings. It physically hurt. I couldn’t speak before coffee. I would roll out of bed 10 minutes before I had to leave brush teeth put on clothes and go. I realized that the fact that I’m not a natural “morning person” is the REASON I need to wake up early. I needed a few hours to wake up and have coffee before I could be pleasant. What really helped me was making a list the night before of 4-5 tasks that were low energy and didn’t require a lot of thinking (unloading the dish washer, taking my dog for a walk, making breakfast, packing lunch). Once you’re up doing those things you realize how nice it is to be the only one awake. I wake up at 4:15 so I can make it to the gym, eat breakfast, and shower before I have to be at work at 7:30.

I normally wake up at 6 and I got up at 5 am this morning and actually didn't have to rush to work and vacuumed and packed a breakfast and still had time for a full face of makeup for the first time in WEEKS which was so fun and let me be creative before hitting the paperwork at the office for 9 hours and taking care of my sweet daughter when I get home. Now I just need to work on getting more than 5 hours of sleep again like I did a year ago when I had a strict bedtime for myself...

I loved this!! I hate to admit this because I try not to dwell on more negative emotions but sometimes watching youtubers in general I find myself getting jealous that some people can just sleep in, and have such a seemingly less scheduled day. But hearing you talk about your 9-5 days makes me feel less alone! I get up super early for work, usually at 4:45 or 5, partly to beat traffic but also partly to spend more time with our dog, she is always excited in the morning and loves getting pets first thing! 😊🐶❤️

Here's my question about going to bed at 9:30... in your 20s (and older) it's very common for people to hang out with their friends in the evening - a party, getting a drink, movie night, etc. These obviously keep you out past 9:30. How do you work those late nights into your schedule? Or do you just...not? Haha. Most of us have to be at work all day so the evenings can be the only time to be with friends/family

Its a necessity to wake up early in the morning due to my commute to work (30min walk to catch a train into NYC) and a car isn’t in my budget just yet. But now my new goal is to wake up earlier, around 4-4:30am to get a work out in. I definitely follow a couple of these tips, so definitely follow them, but my phone usage before bed and that second cup of coffee at 3pm definitely are the habits I have to kick to get to the 4-4:30am club! Good luck everyone!! Baby steps will get us there in due time. Thanks for the help and encouragement Carrie! 😘

I am one of those people that wake up with the sun which is why when day light savings times kicks in, it is nearly impossible for me to get out of bed until March.... It is a goal of mine to start getting up at 5am again starting in January and some of these tips have helped. Thanks a bunch!

Hi hi hi! It’s 517 am and I’m awake! I think another tool that has helped me is the Sleep Cycle app. I know for sure it’s in the App Store but not sure about Google...but it monitors when I start getting restless or am not in deep sleep and will start my alarm sequence (I’ve set it to lightly play and increase for 30 mins) and it helped me TREMENDOUSLY! Your tips are all right on the money. Thanks for spreading the knowledge 🧠

I’ve intentionally been waking up at 6am this week and I get so much done! It’s amazing and it’s true: I have been sleeping better! I get downstairs and have breakfast while reading my book, then go get dressed and ready for the day.

I enjoyed this vid. I want to wake up earlier so that I have time to myself for self care or cleaning the house OR crocheting projects. I don't have much time in the day when I wake up at 7am to go to work at 8am. Then I need to come home and prepare supper and clean up after. Hopefully (waking up/going to bed) earlier will give me time to wind (up/down).

I have my goal to wake up at 5. I've managed to do it a few times already. And it is pretty clear that sleep is the key, at least 7 hours is necessary. My problem is more to be able to sleep at the right time than getting up since if I would sleep before 10pm I would get up at 5 without problem... Still working on it👍🏼 BTW. New subscriber here!

you really really motivated me to start waking up a bit earlier! i just need my morning routine that takes about 2-3 hours and i'd have so much more time if i‘d just wake up earlier!! i guess i also have to work on the time that i go to sleep, so many of my friends just kind of "keep me up" haha

I've found that putting my phone across the room at night doesn't only help with the waking up - it's also great to not get tempted to pick it up when you're suppose to sleep. I had this problem a lot earlier this summer but now I put my phone on my desk in my room and it's so good😀

inspiring video. like what you said, you have to understand your “why”. and for me is making sure i prepare my husbands breakfast and lunch for work.... for many reasons. i know he’s eating right (not eating junk food), i know he will not skip breakfast and lunch because he already have a ready-prepared food, it also help us save because most of the time what i cooked for dinner will be our lunch for the following day. my husband is not picky about it. and working in the garden in the morning helps me relax and get ready for another busy-hot summer day. 😊😊

I love waking up early, but I also love my alone time at night after my kids are in bed. I stay up so late every night because it's the only time I have to myself. If I wake up early to have alone time then, it never fails that my kids wake up too.

Personally, I just got off a night shift job where I was working from 6pm to 6am most days, so getting my sleep schedule turned around has been difficult, but I liked your comments about taking baby steps and putting the alarm across the room. I need to start waking up early, so that I can accomplish more in the day instead of sleeping it away.

Kadiyah Lodge hey so from what she said in the video u wanna have an intention in the morning but why would u wanna start when its cold and the bed is warm? Well I got a few cozy sweaters so as soon as u get out of bed throw on a cozy sweater that u could may be just wear throughout the day and enjoy a HOT tea, hot water with lemon, coffee (whatever floats ur boat an makes u happy) and all that nice comforting warmth that isn't the bed may make u feel better about staying out of bed and u can start journaling or getting tasks done at your desk with ur nice hot beverage. Hope that helps! 😇

Kadiyah Lodge oh yeah...and the darkness shouldn't be too much of an issue. I live in Wisconsin and when waking up early for school it'd of course be nice an dark (cold of course haha) but as soon as my alarm went off boom turned on a light. Any light would work in my room really like my bedside lamp, fairy lights getting turned on, or my bright ceiling light. It really helped wake me up most mornings

Getting in a morning workout and to spend some time on my crafts. I already get up between 6:00 and 6:20 every morning for my 8-5 job and don't get home until almost 6pm. It would be amazing to get back to my writing and jewelry making; that workout makes the whole day better.

This was really helpful! I'm the kind of person who can get up early if it's absolutely necessary but would prefer to sleep as long as possible. I definitely like to stay up late and it's always been that way. I took online classes last semester because I travel out of town a lot to see my family and help them out but this semester I have 8am classes everyday and I'm kind of freaking out a little ha! I shouldn't because I live 5 minutes via car from campus. I don't think I'm interested in waking up earlier than I have to right now, but maybe that'll change as I get older (25 right now). I'm definitely interested in creating a routine for my mornings so that I have time to help my family later in the day/spend time with my boyfriend during the week. I also definitely want to utilize the gym on campus so packing a gym bag to throw in my car would be perfect. Just gotta work past the lazy part of myself that would go to class, come back and crawl in bed ha!

Ive always wanted to wake up early and get my day started with a workout and just do everything before work but I was so lazy! I couldn’t even wake up 30 minutes before work I would wake up 15 minutes and be in a rush! But I am now starting off easy and waking up at 7 then going in increments of 30 to get up to 5:30! I feel like that is the best way for me to wake up earlier!
