I am a medical student, graduating next year and sleeping 8 hrs per night. You can do anything you want, you don't have to sleep less, you just have to have a better management of your time. Sleeping is essential for your brain functions. It may feel like you're okay with 5 hrs sleep but in the long term people who slept less than 7 hours were the ones with more health issues. Be careful.

@ceven80376 жыл бұрын
Residents aren't med students, they've already graduated and are working in hospitals as junior doctors. I'm not sure how it works outside Australia, but as long as you make the most of your days to study, you could easily get 8hrs sleep as a med student, even on rotations in the hospital.

people get hung up on waking up early. you can do all that stuff in the evening, after work. the reason you wake up early to meditate, workout, study, read etc. is because it is 1000x easier to own the time in the morning than it is to own your time after work. when you leave your job you're probably tired and stressed from a hard day of concentration. friends will ask you to hang out, you might have an event to go to, you may have to work late, or some other distraction will inevitably pop up in the evening. nothing ever "pops up" between the hours of 4-7. There are no distractions. Want to earn a certification, wake up early and work on it. want to learn the guitar, wake up early and work on it. want to get swole? wake up early and work on it.

Lol XD i have two sets of alarm. Their difference is the alarm ring. So i don't wake up to the same tune every morning. I tend to easily tune out anything that i hear regularly so if i hear the same sound every 3:30am everyday for 2-3 weeks my brain just gets used to it and learns to "not hear it". And i'll wake up later because i didn't hear the alarm ring. I also change the ring at some times because i easily get bored of the same tune. ( ̄▽ ̄;; ) But if i have things planned for the next day, i just automatically wake up early. The same when i had work.

One tip I can recommend for those who struggle to get out of bed: After your alarm goes off stay in bed but STRETCH instead of going back to bed. It works so well for me!! If I have my bags packed, my clothes laid out, and my breakfast made I’m more obligated to NOT wake up because then I’m like “well I can sleep for 5 more mins cause I just gotta get up and brush my teeth” having all those things to do motivates me to get up because I’m like “damn I gotta get going if I’m gonna do all those things” am I crazy?

Just cut down social media you don't need to see what everyone is up to, cuz if you don't you'll wake up early start looking at your phone then baaam time wasted and waking up early went in vain.. It's not just about building the habit of waking up early but also what habits are you going to do when you wake up and this is exactly why it's a hard thing to maintain, Also wasting morning time feels a lot more frustrating than wasting a night time

my biggest problem is telling myself that "yeah i can do that task that usually takes me 30 minutes in 10 minutes and skip something else and geT AN HOUR OF SLEEP MORE!" every morning lol i know i need at least 1.5h to get ready and commute as im slow in the mornings (i shower, i wash my hair and do my makeup every day or every other day) but i still wake up really tired (hello depression will you let me sleep.....) and i just....dont want to get up or do anything and i try to justify to myself why im still in bed because i get guilty for not trying to get better. recently ive been trying to sleep better and wake up earlier and some of the things you mention are REALLY helpful! i need to try changing my alarm sound to something softer but im scared that ill just....sleep through it...lol

Amazing! In islam, there are 5 prayers a day. The first prayer is at 5 am. And the quran repeatedly states that "the extra voluntarily" prayers pre 5am are doubled if not trippled in deeds. I dont know. I just found it interesting .

Honestly though, There was a small period in the year 20 of my life where I went to sleep at like 11 and woke up at 7 and it felt so good. Not only was it because I felt highly productive already because I’m already being disciplined but also because of health; I have anemia so the fact that I’d be feeling more tired than others because of my health, which is already affecting me in a way I can’t really control, I CAN control my sleep time. Honestly, the best week (or month) of my life because wow!! The difference is clear! I so want to get back into it but I’ve just been lazy so any tips drop them my way but I’ll do my best to redo this because it was honestly such a benefit!! Overall what I’m trying to say is that I was inspired by your video 💖

Such a great video! Last August I tried waking up around 5.30 am (I usually go to bed around 2 or 3 a.m.) and that month was SO PRODUCTIVE and I remember being so happy about myself, it did not feel like a punishment, but on the contrary it felt super amazing! I just need to get back to that habit, now I wake up at 10-11 am and I feel miserable.. thanks for the motivation!

I used birdsong as my alarm all through Uni while I was living in the city. Then I moved back home to the sticks where we have actual birdsong. DO YOU HAVE AN IDEA HOW EARLY THE DAWN CHORUS IS! I was literally awake at 4am thinking why is my alarm going off? But it was actually birds! 2 years later I now wake up to the radio...ironically I also now wake up at 5am.

saaaame. I have slept through fire alarms before. Heavy sleeper AND slight hearing loss. I set at least 4 different alarms each morning and they have at least 2 different, really loud sounds. I've been looking into rigging a lamp with a timer so maybe the light will do half the work of waking me up and I could just set one or two normal alarms

I just found your channel, and I'm generally not a fan of lifestyle and self-help vloggers because I find it to be too gimmicky, and a lot of them come across as flexing ("I eat only organic food from my own garden, I seemingly don't really have a job, I live in this giant house and these are all reasons I'm better than you" type of vibe that makes me uncomfortable and bored after less than a minute) but your videos have a totally different vibe. Your videos are very calming and very down to earth. You can tell immediately when you open your mouth that you're a humble, spiritual, and amazing person. You really are like, future goals, without seeming unattainable. 😍

I used to go to bed at 4am or even 5am when I was a bartender or server. Now, my career is much better and I wake up at 4am. Definitely get everything ready the night before and go to bed so you get enough sleep for YOU. I hate waking up so early but really, it's way more beneficial than sleeping in until noon or later. I have serious issues with sleeping and I know that this does work.

I've been waking up between 8 and 11am during my holidays then I started school and I couldn't change my routine so I've been skipping school. I would literally get into bed at 7/8 and couldn't sleep until 1/2. This is because I was going on my phone in bed. I got quite behind in school so I had a lot to do this weekend. I set my alarm for 5am but was expecting to snooze until 6am. I read before falling asleep... And I woke up by myself at 4am!!! First thing I thought of was this video I watched ages ago (: I'm so happy, when I saw how early I woke up and tried to get back to sleep but I literally couldn't because my body was already rejuvenated and ready for the day. So I got up, stretched, did my devotions (spent time with God for the first time in a long time!), studied for a bit, had breakfast and took my dog on a big run. Right now having a study break and already gotten so much done. So moral of the story, don't go on screens before bed, listen to your body and you CAN do it!!

Maybe look into trying to buy an alarm that would do something similar. I think I saw something like that online a while ago. I found a different alarm after that. ;)
