1. Wear a safety harness unless you want to A) Die or B) have Workcover all over you with a massive fine. 2. Use hot water. It cleans better & also kills fungus/lichen/moss at the roots so you don’t have regrowth. 3. Work from the top down and NEVER have your back to the edge of the roof and NEVER point the lance uphill. Water will definitely end up in the ceiling. 4. Walk on the overlapping tiles. Not in the centre of single tiles. They will crack or completely break. 5. Walk on the clean tiles mate. They are less slippery than dirty ones. 6. Remove this video immediately or you’ll end up in a law suit when someone follows your erroneous instructions and comes to harm. I’m sure you are well meaning but just being up there without a harness sets you up for a Workcover investigation.

So how do you know if the roofing felt is in good condition. Buddy you are gonna have a law suit on your hands if that sweeping motion your using causes water to go up and under the tiles and water finds a hole in the roofing felt. Soft wash is better.

That’s concrete, and that’s not how you should walk it, and you should apply from top to bottom exactly how roof sheds water, work way down.

what pressure tip would be best to use on this kind of tile roof?
@josepeixoto33842 жыл бұрын
i wonder if the tiles were better protected against the sun and rain with that black coating?
@DatBoiWolf7 Жыл бұрын
Black absorbs heat... so the house is hotter because of it. And the algae actually eats away at components within the roof

Ever had any problems with water leaking through the tiles ? I suppose if the felt is in good condition it shouldnt matter.

While steam/pressure washing a bacteria/fungus off a surface, probably should wear respiratory and eye protection.

Hmm...Concrete tile manufacturers say never to walk in the valleys. You say to always walk in the valleys. Who should I trust - the people who engineered and manufactured the tiles or this fellow that made the video and always walks in the valleys? It seems like he would be out of business if he was doing it wrong. Maybe this is an issue of clay tiles vs. concrete tiles but I'd be a little skeptical of the advice on this video. Do your homework. I'm sure this guy knows what he is doing but I'm going to follow the concrete tile manufacturers' advice for walking on concrete tiles. If I'm wrong and I end up breaking the tiles on my roof I will update my comment and eat my skepticism.

How did it turn out? Are the tiles different?
@subsofanarchy5 жыл бұрын
@@melissasummers2926 So, I can only talk about concrete barrel (mission-style) tile because that's what I have. Before I went up on the roof just by chance I ran into a guy (20 years exp) from one of the top roofing companies here in Phoenix. He told me to try and put my feet on the side joint (not the front) of the tile where the top (convex) tile overlaps the bottom (valley/concave) tile. Try to spread your weight evenly between your two feet as you move up the roof. He also asked me how old my roof was (20+ years) and he said, "Oh, you don't really have to worry about it then" as if older tiles are stronger. I'm skeptical about that but he's the expert - not me. Anyway, just I followed his advice to walk on the side joint overlap and I had no problems. Not sure why we use tile roofs if the tiles can break easily if walked on but there's not much I can do about that. My assumption would be that concrete tiles are stronger than clay but I've never done anything with clay tiles so I can't really make a recommendation on how to walk on a clay tile roof and I'm not sure why there is so much conflicting advice about how to walk on a barrel shaped tile roof. Best advice: Try and stay off the roof but that's not always possible.
