@Samestori2144 жыл бұрын
@@arsengames... Yes true that the drywall does fail in some cases. But the engineering of the plate on the wall with the zip fasteners 2@100lbs and he found the studs on the other side so each bolt will not be holding the full weight of the TV. And the zip fasteners are rated with a lower weight so that if we use them we shouldn't get close to there failing point. Or putting as much stress on the drywall in one place so It can rip.

Just so you guys know, he did use the studs, only these aren't wood studs, they are metal studs. Metal studs are hollow, that's why if you watch the video, when he is drilling the pilot holes there is some resistance for a second or two and then the drill gets through the stud. He is then installing the fasteners into the hollow steel stud. Nothing wrong with this method, unless maybe you are installing an 8 year old plasma TV or something very heavy.
@fobsternd10 жыл бұрын
I'm a bit confused, aren't you supposed to drill screws into the studs? If he used fasteners, why did he have to locate studs if the fasteners just latch on behind the wall? or they are latching onto the metal stud?

1: Since he used the dry wall anchors, definitely he didn't mount to the studs. For heavy TV's, I rather mount to the studs. While drilling right side holes, yes, he did encounter stud but the video did not show difficulties of trying to mount the wall anchors (once inserted, needs to form T in the back). 2: For most homes, electrical lines run horizontally about a foot from the floor and code says you need to put metal plate on the studs so we don't accidently drill or hammer a nail thru it.

I like your video. Very informative. You make it easy. I am looking to hang two 32 inch Vizio LCDs, side by side. Where can I find a single mount for dual tv's or should I use two wall mounts? What type of fasteners did you use and where could get them?
@abtelectronics8 жыл бұрын
You can use either two mounts or a single dual-mount. The advantage of two separate mounts will be the choices you'll have, because there aren't a lot of dual-display mounts on the market and they're usually intended for computer monitors (so 32" TVs might be too large for them). You'll probably pay less for a pair of single mounts than a single, specialized dual mount. The disadvantage of using two wall mounts is making sure they're perfectly aligned so your monitors aren't crooked next to eachother. The fasteners we used are called Snaptoggle anchors. You need them when you're fastening to just drywall or to a steel stud (not when you hit a wooden stud) and you can find them at Home Depot or most any hardware store.
@deasttn8 жыл бұрын

The drill 'jumped' after you got thru the wallboard….did you miss the wood stud? Tho on the two right drill holes you seem to experience more resistance. ???

he used toggle bolts in the studs. Which confused me as well. I was under the assumption you dont need toggle bolts if you're hitting studs.
@deasttn8 жыл бұрын
They are metal studs. Definitely looks like hole 3 & 4 had some resistance when he drilled. 4 of those toggle fasteners are plenty strong enough to hold that sized TV to the wall (even without hitting a stud).
@KINGsizeWINNER10 жыл бұрын
Why did you have a harder time drilling the pilot holes and the half inch holes on the right side? Did you hit something? I noticed you didn't tell viewers to make sure their stud-finder can account for piping or electrical wires behind on on the stud.

Great video! I did the same for my tv. But is it only supposed to be supported by the top bar or the bottom bar should be fixed? I can pull the bottom of the tv, it only sticks on the wall at the top. It doesn't feel safe, very easy to hit it on the side and pull it up by mistake. Is it normal?

Am I the only one who notice the frist 2 holes he made hit nothing but drywall ?
@ttnnaples80608 жыл бұрын
I've done LOTS of 'guy stuff' for decades. Quite well. Having correct tools helps, but I'm a great improvisor. Best way is watch every video...and if any friends are putting their TV (s) up, go help them! Then, after all practiced up, they can return the favor. Ask lots of Ace Hardware, HD, Lowe's people advice. Somewhere in the middle will be what is most correct. And they'll show the niftiest new things to use. And knowing the type of material behind sheetrock on wall to be mounted is crucial. As each will demand a different type anchor for bolting plate. Metal or wood studs, or concrete block. It's sort of a 'one and a half person job'. But one can manage most sizes.

Didn't look like he hit the studs?
@hamiltontechsource32178 жыл бұрын
He only hit the studs on the right side, the left side was just drywall. Toggler bolts are designed to work with both metal studs and drywall, although I would never just use the drywall when I can just as easily find the stud. I do this for a living
@tomallen44198 жыл бұрын
I think they were metal studs.
@hamiltontechsource32178 жыл бұрын
Yes you are correct they were metal studs, but it appears he only hit the studs on the right side.

... any rookie watching this would be asking loads of ways! ..e.g how come a different fastener than the ones typically supplied... what's the stud finder for? Did u drill the areas the stud finder beeped? Is it the same tactics for wood wall and brick wall? What are the warning signs to look out for if u havent done it properly? .. etc ... I was left puzzled ..

As long as it's a small TV that is light. He mounted this TV just on the drywall. That is not strong at all.
@jacknewbold53878 жыл бұрын
+Abt I know just where I want to wall mount my TV and I see you have done yours on drywall, my desired wall is a brick one. Will this make the fix to the wall sturdier or will it just not be right.
@hamiltontechsource32178 жыл бұрын
Yes if you install in brick it will be very solid. Most TV mounting brackets include plastic anchors designed for brick/concrete. Use the proper drill bit (mortar bit) and hammer drill for best results. Chose a drill bit that is the same diameter as the plastic anchor. Once you have drilled your hole, insert the plastic anchor, then use the included lag bolts.
