Great tutorial Joanne, I'm a decorator of 30 years and I couldn't explain it as well as you've done here. Sometimes we just have to accept that the paper isn't going to match around an internal and that's the end of it. Some corners I've done over the years are shaped like an hourglass, some fall out 3 or 4 inches over a couple of metres and some are beautifully square and plumb but we just have to do our best. I get alot of younger decorators wanting to sub their papering jobs out to me these days so I'm unsure if they're even teaching it in college anymore. Keep up the great work. 👍

@@PBYM79 thank you 👍🏼 Yeah I try to keep it as honest as possible. It’s never going to be perfect, because no wall/corner is. There seems to be very little wallpapering jobs to be honest, I get the odd few. I can’t remember the last time I papered a full room!

This is so helpful. I have a complicated, large pattern and have been perplexed about how to do the corners. This was such a clear explanation- thank you!

Great vid, thanks! Most tutorials show those new, shiny, straight plaster corner walls, where using a corner roller keeps your strip 'laser straight' throughout. The reality is slightly different with old houses, and an uneven corner could take you off the level.

@@LoftBits yeah I agree. You often have to adjust how you work to fit the job. Sometimes one process doesn’t work on all jobs

3:45 That is talent! Good job on the wallpaper hanging. Most people say go round the corner. I like your way. 💪🏻

Can you do a video on trimming tight corner and edges cause I always cut too much then it gets worse 😮

You could have made it easier for yourself by using an easier to match paper, but you didn’t, you chose to use a difficult match….brilliant! A brilliant tutorial with some great tips. Looking forward to seeing some more 😊

The match itself is very easy, but can be very obvious in the corner if it doesnt match. It just so happened I was wallpapering and remembered this time to make a video!

Great video, have you got any with you wallpapering a window with a radiator below with pipes and a double socket all on one wall, would really help 🤪

You could put a spacer behind the plastic straight edge

I would have trimmed my right side sheet on the table to exactly fit to the corner, maybe a very small amount going around the corner, and then used a laser level to plumb my left hand sheet which goes on the adjacent wall. Quicker, better. Cheers!

@@williams.porter6182 yep. I mentioned that in the video too 👍🏼

@@JoanneHayDecorating Yes, I see that you did, my apologies! A couple points that you might consider, if you drop a plumb line ( a laser level works great for this) and mark it with a pencil for the drop going around the corner onto the adjacent wall it will make it much easier to get your drop plumb the first time. Additionally, I have always thought of what you are calling a straight edge as a smoothing tool. I use 6 inch putty knife with an attachment to thicken the cut a bit. Works a charm. I respect to each their own though.

My brand new knife just snagged all the paper, and it was a mess, then it tore.
