Sweaty workouts are basically the one time of the week when my rule about wearing the hair in protective styles is put to the side... while the tight ponies and buns aren't great for long periods of time, I feel this actually helps prevents future breakage for me more- because then I don't have to wash as often! But with that said... video all about hair breakage coming soon! Stay tuned 🥰

You should do like a 7 day vlog showing your hair and how you style and treat it on each day after wash day. I think that would be super helpful, because I’m still lost without actually seeing what you mean

When my hair was highlighted blond like yours, I could easily extend my washes to every 4-5 days (without training!). The bleaching process dries out the hair and adds volume. But as soon as I went back to my natural colour, my hair became limp and greasy so quickly. I spent four months trying to train it, only washing it twice a week and trying to extend it even longer, but I saw no results. My hair would look wet by day 3, and dry shampoo could only cover up so much. The most I can go is every 3 days now. I don't think washing once a week is for every hair type. If I ever go back to blonde though, I'll definitely be washing it less.

The absolute best tip to apply dry shampoo before a workout!!! Can't believe I never thought of that. Tried it today and it worked great. Another added benefit is sometimes I would get a whiff of it which is always nice to smell something pleasant during a workout. Have you reviewed the Bumble and Bumble post-workout dry shampoo? That is what I currently have and would love to hear your thoughts on it.

Thanks for all your wisdom! To be honest my issue is sunscreen. With all the reapplications throughout the it inevitably gets in my hair. Almost impossible at the hairline to avoid the “buildup”. IDk, I’d really LOVE to get to a once a week wash but I just haven’t figured out a way to avoid the yuck feeling of the sunscreen. Any suggestions?
@AbbeyYung

Totally get this! If I get sunscreen in my hairline I use a microfiber towel with micellar water to try to remove some! But like you said some of it is inevitable 😫

I've had suchhhhh trouble with this to the point my hair has been shedding and breaking off and I'm fairly certain it's from the sweat because I went to the doctor and all my lab work was fine and I eat really healthy, the only change has been exercising 6 days a week. I also have thick curly hair which further complicates things because I feel it's a waste to wash every day, plus my hair is too dry for that anyways. I think the sweaty scalp is what's causing my hair to become damaged though but it's hard to avoid unless I just stop working out, or start washing every day. Looking for tips, so thank you

Great tips!! I always wear a shower cap when showering and if I’ve gotten too sweaty depending on the area I will pull my bangs out and shampoo them no conditioner and or a tiny bit of shampoo at the base of my neck up under the shower cap and rise out . I don’t blow dry when I do this . I wash my hair on wed and sun 😊

Just curious if you have ever used corn starch instead of dry shampoo? I use it all the time and it works well to help absorb the oils. AND it’s economical. What are your thoughts on this?

I haven’t! It’s a common ingredient in dry shampoo powders so I don’t see any reason why it would be a problem!

I love the content, and you have great tips. I think this one is a bit of a miss in that sometimes, too little washing is just counter productive. Having a constant itchy scalp and loads of build up can end up being just as bad. As far as product, love the powder idea. Sprays are drying and lead to buildup. cornstarch works great too.

Everything sounds great…BUT…all of these products seem kind of expensive (texturizer, powder dry shampoo, etc), and also a daily process to maintain. Honestly I think it would be much easier, and might even look better, to just wash your hair twice a week. Seems like less work, and more affordable, Lol. Also, none of these tackles one of the biggest problems with dirty hair: bad smell. In my experience , most hair products don’t really mask that well this issue. Hair starts to smell really bad probably around day 4-5, and by day 6-7, flies would be going around the head, Lol. I just honestly can’t comprehend how anyone can survive waiting 7 days to wash their hair unless is someone that doesn’t sweat at all. Kudos to all of you that are able to, but I don’t think most people are in this category 🤷🏻‍♀️

I can’t use dry shampoo because of the fragrance, I’m allergic. I wash every other day. After a workout, on a non wash day, I wash my bangs only. I have my hair up in the shower, and I rinse the hair above the back of my neck, where I sweat. That’s how I manage it. Thanks for the tips on how to wear the hair in a workout!

Loved your tips! One thing I used to do for really sweaty workouts (I haven't done them in over a month because I got COVID and I'm still recovering) is to rinse my hair off with water and put a tiny bit of conditioner on my ends to moisture it up a bit, rinsing it off later of course. I do this mainly because I sweat a lot and I couldn't survive the week without rinsing out the sweat, and with sweat comes smell so that's a no-no.

Will this work if you have Piercing? I workout every day and I shower and wash my hair every day, but I know for sure that will cause problems, but that's the only way from keeping the infection away from my piercings. They got infected so bad, so I have to be super clean. Will the dry shampoo work or it might cause problems and infection... Have Piercings and working out is a struggle!

Thanks for doing this video! I also struggle with hair that gets greasy fast and for the past year or so I finally have been able to go without washing so often, but haven’t figured out factoring in workouts in the best way. Let me just say I am amazed at how many baby hairs have come back in from ditching former bad habits and washing less. I had no idea I had so much breakage. 🤯 It takes quite awhile they are still growing in after switching my pillow, less tight styles and scrunchies and silk pillowcase too.

I found a recipe for DIY dry shampoo on the Internet that just used cornstarch (they used optional baking soda--I didn't and it was fine). They suggest using some kind of brown-colored spice for brown or red hair, and unsweetened cocoa powder for darker hair. I was shocked at how well it worked, and for pennies! I have two cans of dry shampoo I bought before finding this, and I haven't even bothered using them yet. Thank you for this video. It was needed by so many!!

Yup. I'm only half way through the video, but I'm already with you because I use those extra large hair elastics. I double it to start with, meaning I start with the elastic already as if it were wrapped twice around my hair, but I put it like that on my hand before I put it on my hair and then I treat the 2 layers as if they were one single hair tie. They last much longer than regular hair elastics and don't stretch out of shape nearly as easily and they hold my high ponytail or high bun in place all day long. My work day is a workout itself because I have a highly physical job and I don't just sit inside all day
