No fabric softener after rinse cycle?? I'm new to using microfiber cloths 😊
@HappySunshineDay3 жыл бұрын
@@ameliabyrne3907 I was taught to not use fabric softener on ANY towels. Fabric softener imparts a film on cloth to make it feel softer and eliminate static. This is great for clothing and bedding, but not for towels and cleaning cloths. I'm no pro, but here's what I have learned: We want our bath towels to be "thirsty," absorbing as much water as possible. A layer of fabric softener gets in the way of that. With cleaning or dusting microfiber cloths or mitts, we want those to keep their static electricity to help hold onto the dust next time we clean. I hope this is helpful - and please correct me if I am mistaken. 😀

When we bought our home it was professionally cleaned just before we moved in. My family was present for this since we had to let the cleaners in and out. My father even purchased the hardwood floor cleaner they used based on their advice since they were the pros (it was also what they used that day) When I saw the house on moving day it wasn't visibly filthy...just didn't seem as clean as it should've been. When it was time to mop my room and I was handed the cleaner that the pros recommended and used previously "method daily wood cleaner" I was immediately skeptical when I was told the instructions of "spray it and then wipe it away". Sure enough that's the instructions on the bottle. I give it a go and am convinced there's no way this could actually be doing anything. I give up and break out the mop and bucket...the water turned an intense deep brown. It took weeks of regular mopping to get to where I am now. Finally I'm able to mop and the water isn't Hershey chocolate brown afterwards. I was so relieved the day I mopped and the water was still clear afterwards. Out of curiosity I looked at Amazon to see how much my family wasted on this "cleaner" and to see the reviews...as well as to double check and make sure I used it correctly. I was absolutely floored (no pun intended) when I saw how high the reviews were. People were raving about how great it is! I don't get it!
@latmcb98633 жыл бұрын
@@JRenee141 I just don't get it. Why do some cleaners do such a terrible job? I have had similar experience with floors. One of my prior cleaners used something that left the floor sticky. I took a wet paper towel and wiped a small area and the paper towel was filthy when I looked at it.

@AskAngelaBrown2 жыл бұрын
Washing machines are designed to wash dirty cloths, linens, and clothes. In many cases, the machines can handle heavier loads and unevenly weighted items (like comforters and bedding). Where the washing machine wears out is constant loads of those bulkier items where the machine rocks and shakes. You should be fine just washing cleaning cloths and towels. 👍

hey there thanks for all you do. I was wondering...have you heard anything about micro fibre being bad environmental wise? I heard someone on another video say it was...I know here, the older women who do house keeping use receiving blankets-the blankets for babies...one wet and one dry. I know that wouldn't be useful for those cleaners that are professional, but for the home, it works well.
@AskAngelaBrown Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your support! Concerns about the environmental impact of microfiber towels have been raised due to the release of microplastic particles when they are washed. Using receiving blankets as an alternative for home cleaning is a creative and eco-friendly option. While professional cleaners may have specific requirements, exploring sustainable choices for personal cleaning is commendable. Keep up the good work in finding environmentally conscious solutions!

Regardless of their colors? I’m extremely OCD and this is my pet peeve because I don’t wash them all together. I’m wondering if it’s hygienic to wash all these different room cloths together. Also will the colors transfer? Thank you!

Thank you for this! I have one question: would the glass cleaning cloths be hand washable? My reason for asking is I'm taking care of one house, my own, and I don't have a lot of glass cloths. I think I would like to simply hand wash them and hang them to dry. What would you recommend as a laundry soap for hand washing glass cloths, please?
@AskAngelaBrown2 жыл бұрын
The glass cloths can be hand washed yes. If you are washing them by hand in a bowl of hot water a drop of dish soap will suffice. Make sure you rinse out all the soap from the cloth before air drying. 👍

So helpful! Question: what if I never properly washed or dried my microfiber cloths? Are they all ruined now? Do I need to buy new ones or can I somehow bring back their properties?
@AskAngelaBrown3 жыл бұрын
You can not revive ruined microfiber cloths. Microfiber cloths are made with GRS certified recycled plastic which is a synthetic material, typically a polyester-nylon blend. Microfiber is very fine - as much as 1/100th the diameter of a human hair - and about one-third the diameter of a cotton fiber. And once the fabric is overwhelmed with heat, chemicals or it loses its static grabbing powers it becomes just any old rag. 😦

You can revive them by washing them with 1/2 cup borax and 1/2 cup baking soda on hot…No soap, no add one. Triple rinse and hang dry

Hi Angela thank you so much for your videos.. I’m 51 and learning so much lol I thought I knew everything about cleaning a house after 4 grown kids 😆 My question is about the different micro fibre cloths.. I’ve purchased a few different ones do I need a mesh bag for each color? And if I’m soaking them they need their own bucket? Thanks so much for your time 😊
@AskAngelaBrown Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your kind words and enthusiasm for the cleaning videos! While separate mesh bags for each color of microfiber cloth are not necessary, they can help with organization. As for soaking the cloths, you don't need individual buckets; you can use a single bucket or separate containers if you prefer. The main goal is to keep the cloths organized and ensure they have enough space to soak effectively. Happy cleaning!

Did I understand right, that I can wash different colours with no polish together? How about kitchen cloth, bath cloth and floor cloth? Dividing or together washing? Or does it depend on the washing temperature (European 60°-90°C)? Thanks for your advice!

Yes you can! If we don't have a full load we may toss our furniture and kitchen cloths in the same load (separate mesh bags) and bathroom and mop heads in a load together.

This is life changing advice. I wonder why one would separate by room rather than by surface? For example if I do the counters in the kitchen and also the bathroom, is there any harm in using the same color and then when different chemicals are used, lets say for stainless steel or floors, a second color for that, despite the fact that the rooms are different? Or am I missing a detail or principle? For cleaning one's own house, which in my case is now a two bedroom of about 13,00 square feet, how many micro fiber cloths of each color would you recommend?
@AskAngelaBrown10 ай бұрын
Separating by room and surface helps prevent cross-contamination between areas with different bacteria. For a 2-bedroom house, 4-5 microfiber cloths should suffice

Hubby does laundry. He knows that if something is on a mesh bag, wash and dry on delicate/low heat. I don’t want to confuse him. So is delicate wash ok? I don’t use microfiber for furniture polish or heavy cleaners. We have plenty of Decluttered T-shirt for that.
@AskAngelaBrown2 жыл бұрын
Give delicate wash a try but if the cloths don’t seem clean you may need to wash differently. Perhaps find a colored mesh bag so he knows was those bags differently.

I have a problem with hair getting stuck in my microfiber cloths. Even after laundering them, I find hairs in them, making them basically unusable. Is that because I haven't been separating them from the other laundry?
@AskAngelaBrown3 жыл бұрын
Quite possibly. Without the mesh bags the microfiber cloths mixed in with other laundry will pick up all sorts of other stuff (lint, hair, crumbs, etc.) And if thrown in the dryer on higher heats it bakes that right into the fibers. Microfiber is a synthetic fiber made of polyester and polyamide. (recycled high grade plastic and nylon) and it's designed to trap and hold what it connects to.
@ashleyperkins31353 жыл бұрын
If I am just cleaning my own house do I still have to worry about cross contamination? I have a pack of 10 blue cloths and I do use a new one when I go to a new room when cleaning but then I throw them all in a pile together and wash all 10 at once.
@AskAngelaBrown3 жыл бұрын
I do believe that wiping the kitchen counters down with a cloth that just wiped up the bathroom may be a bad idea, or wiping down your living room recliner with a cloth that just wiped egg whites off your kitchen counter may be a bad idea. If it was me and I had 10 blue cloths I would use one for the kitchen, one for the bathrooms, and one (or many) for the rest of the house for furniture and common areas. When I was done cleaning I would put them in a mesh bag and wash them all together.
