I'm a former classroom teacher. I could not be late to work because my students needed a teacher. I always got there early. Schools are excellent models for routines. Spend a day with a classroom teacher and you will understand the value of routines and rituals. Children find comfort in routines, and teachers need those and rituals to control behavior and create a safe learning environment.

Brilliant! This why Saturday was baking day, Sunday was rest and church, Monday was washing day Etc. And there was a rhythm to the meals too. If it was a Wednesday you knew exactly what you were going to be eating. I was like you when I was young and didn't value this kind of thing. What a treasure for me to discover you Angela!💘 ( I am 50 years old now). Even when I was a little child I knew how important for me to have a routine. You wouldnt imagine how had I tired to have one but no way, I couldn't! Then I understand that I didn't know myself. I was stuffed up with all my traditions, traumatic past, fears etc. They became the conductor of my life and I was a puppet of in their hands! Then I stopped trying to create a routine instead focused on who I want to be. And understand and accept all that what happened to me. Face with them. Gone through the fire feeling deeply the pain every inch of existence. As a result, I became 50 now. Ready to create a routine-actually have started - Started working a cleaner quite recently to save up money to buy a laptop to study councelling online ( in traumas as I have more experience in this field). So ladies, don't give up! Again thank you for your generosity Angela💙. You are a sage to me!💘🙏

I like this! I broke my home up into different zones and I try to tackle 1 zone a day for 15-20 minutes. I also try to clean as I go, put things back in their place, etc, so that cleaning is easier. Little by little I’ve notice much more order and calmness.

I do that too. I dust on Sundays, floors & kitchen on Monday mornings, and bathrooms on Tuesdays. I also make sure I have the right tools. At 55 I can’t afford to have my back go out pulling heavy vacuums, water filled buckets etc., so I dust mop the wood floors, mop them with Bona (we have engineered wood floors), steam the tiled floors. OMG! The steamer changed my life!

I subscribed to this channel a couple of years ago when she put a video out on how to get yourself to get up and clean while depressed... Here's the thing...I DON'T HAVE A CLEANING BUSINESS NOR AM I A HOUSEKEEPER. Lol. I have LUPUS and suffer from severe depression and anxietyand when I first saw her video on depression and cleaning I cried through it. Something about the way she connects with her audience and the way she speaks to them that is sooo comforting. Not to mention the advice she gives is just as good if not better than any therapist I've seen out there. Great channel. Great content. Very inspiring. I absolutely love it! Me: I LOVE TO CLEAN AND I'M GOOD AT IT!!! Also me: trips over the vacuum extension cord, because the wheels got stuck in it, whacked myself in the head with the vacuum handle trying to not fall on our poodle, knocked my earring out of my head with said handle, vacuum promptly sucks up grandmother's vintage earring into the abyss of eternal fluff, which I spent a good amount of time picking through in the backyard. In Florida. In July. 😳 Honestly I despise cleaning and I suck at it, but you have so much faith in me that I persevered and cleaned the whole house, because I couldn't disappoint the sweet internet cleaning lady. Hi Angela, Thank you for the video, great one as usual. Thanks for the reminder of how my life used to be, like clockwork. My husband died and my world spun out of control. I just stopped doing things, and couldn't make decisions anymore. I have chaos inside of my head, and outside surrounding me in the house. This just might be the kick in the pants I needed to get back to normal. You shined a light on the path I need. Just get back to a routine, doing things in order. Thank you, I'm so greatfull. It seems like pointing out the obvious now that you said it; but in the fog of grief I lost my way and couldn't figure a way out of the mess I've made. Great tips, thank you Angela. Yes a routine works great because it eliminate wasting time trying to figure out what to do. I like stacking habits for example it could be getting in the habit of putting away stuff on one touch. For example you can just make a decision that you won't pile up clothes on the chair aka "Chair Syndrome", instead every time you take off your clothes either you put them back in the closet or laundry basket. Another habit to stuck on top of this is just to make the bed everyday. If you do this consistently for 30 days you will not go back again.

I came to your KZbin for house cleaning knowledge but I’m getting a LIFE cleaning lesson 😘 I used to be organized, clean and have a flexible routine, it helped get life’s tasks done but gave me freedom for those unexpected things. My husband found pleasure in putting a stick in my spokes and it got worse over time. He worked so hard to undo anything I did and to interfere with what I needed to do that eventually I gave up ! I gave up on everything, on counseling, on the marriage, on having anything nice, on making plans, on expectations, on fighting in court over the kids…..I was defeated ! And for some reason, although he isn’t here sabotaging my every move, I still am unable to get back to the old me for fear of “it’s not going to work out anyway, it doesn’t matter” ! Now I am so behind on things needing done that it’s overwhelming and is paralyzing 😏 I’ll be 56 soon and I feel like I don’t have time to do everything, I just can’t wait for this life to be over !! I’m not suicidal, I’m just ready to be done, so come Lord Jesus 🙏🏻 and until then, I’m going to take lessons from Angela ❤ Blessings

A few years ago I had a customer ask me how I remembered to do everything, and I said "the list is up here" as I pointed to my head. It's just a routine that I have memorized after years of doing the same thing over and over. Boring is financially secure.

Thank you, you made me feel better about my housework routine, when I retired from work instead of downsizing we up sized, I know, right? The larger house was overwhelming to me, so I sat down & created a house cleaning schedule for myself (with some help from some great KZbin bloggers). Because of the larger size house I created a zonal house cleaning schedule which most weeks I stick to but if a spanner gets thrown into the works I can do some minor rearranging & still get my weekly housework done. Yes, I love that book. It's true there is so much more to cleaning than actual cleaning. I was almost a year into my cleaning business when I discovered that I wasn't in the cleaning business with people attached - I was in the people business with cleaning attached. 💛💛💛

Love it, Angela. That's a good reason for the uniform clothing and everything else that you have talked about over time with systems. It reminds me of the book I read about the Toyota production system and two second lean. Standardize and eliminate the things that are not standard in your processes so make things more stable and even.

I totally agree. Create a routine. Habit stack. And once you have done the habit stacked routine tasks the rest of your day is free to do whatever you wish, guilt free. I have been doing it most of my life so I know it works. And, whenever I get bored with it, or I fall behind- because, after all, I am only human, I tap into my favourite "cleaner" videos (yours being one of my main 2, the other being, Clean My Space), It gets me back on track. Finally, Thank you again for all your encouragement!!

Good day Angela! Thank you so much for sharing your insights. What you were saying about freeing up mental space with routines is so true and reminded me of why Sherlock Holmes didn't bother to learn astronomy. As he says: "I consider that a man's brain originally is like a little empty attic, and you have to stock it with such furniture as you choose. A fool takes in all the lumber of every sort that he comes across, so that the knowledge which might be useful to him gets crowded out, or at best is jumbled up with a lot of other things, so that he has a difficulty in laying his hands upon it. Now the skillful workman is very careful indeed as to what he takes into his brain-attic. He will have nothing but the tools which may help him in doing his work, but of these he has a large assortment, and all in the most perfect order. It is a mistake to think that that little room has elastic walls and can distend to any extent. Depend upon it there comes a time when for every addition of knowledge you forget something that you knew before. It is of the highest importance, therefore, not to have useless facts elbowing out the useful ones." I just love your videos 💛
