Now that virtual desktop allows you to stream media directly from your pc or mac it is without doubt the easiest way to watch videos. The controls for the player are a little tricky to use and there are no bells and whistles but for playing 3d content it does just what I want. It doesn't use up space on the headset and is wireless.

Are they as clear as watching on a bigger screen ( I use a 42' tv) - one of the benefits of 360 video is to zoom in/out. Ive been using that first method for a few months, when you mentioned that DEO player that sounded good but its a shame the Y control method is like that, would prefer the control method used in the KZbin VR app, that allows you to move the view around by holding down the button while moving the view which is a lot better as its real time while watching so you dont have to pause. Also you didnt mention that you should disconnect the USB device from your computer first before unplugging it physically (as per all USB mass storage devices you connect)

I wonder of the Oculus 2 is suitable for people with a sleepy eye. My left eye is the problem. I tried using the PlayStation VR but could only see it properly with my left eye closed. It’s a nuisance as I was looking forward to gaming in 360. I have a GoPro Max 360 camera and the footage is excellent. I’m hoping I can get one of these and look at my footage of surfing and diving.

Aww man that sucks because you have to align the pupils in the center of those eye pieces so I can only imagine the difficulty in blur you experience. This is a good suggestion to the makers of all VR devices that they need to have independent controls on both of the viewers for people who have this problem. It only makes sense that they take care of everybody that way. All they would need to do is put individual eye piece settings for both vertical and horizontal. That way everybody can customize the dial-in no matter what issues your eyes may have.

You’re missing something quite big here because I followed every single step you showed me for my MacBook Pro and oculus but it still won’t work. Upon watching your video again I noticed that the file that you’re transferring over to the oculus to DCIM folder is in. MP4 format already. If you’re using a GoPro max, please don’t come through as MP4‘s naturally. I’m surprised at any 360 VR video from the camera would do so but maybe I’m wrong. GoPro Max is a affordable 360 VR camera. Maybe you should change this video or record a new one with that stuff that’s probably pretty important to some people with devices that don’t automatically export as MP4‘s

I got the 128GB version Quest 2 so there is plenty of room for 360 videos. I'm sure you can fit a couple of hours worth of 360 video just fine!

Hi Shanil, hope you had a great Christmas and New Year. As I mentioned I got the quest 2 headset for Christmas and have attempted to upload a 360 video onto the Quest as per your great video. It all uploads fine however when I attempt to play the video back it plays for maybe 2 or 3 seconds then freezes and the audio does the same. I see the frozen picture but it has three small white spots that flash one at a time as if the headset is buffering. I used the Insta studio and set the refresh rate to 200 then uploaded the video as per your instructions. Is there a setting I am missing or need to alter? Thanks very much. Take care, Peter

I used insta360 studio and export with 125 bitrate. Otherwise it will stutter on the Quest 2.

This used to work but now doesn't for me. 1. I used hand tracking to try and press allow and accidentally pressed don't show again. NO IDEA how to fix this. 2. I tried to copy the file from my mac to the DCIM folder using Android File Transfer. Android File Transfer gave me the error, Could not copy file. There was a stub copied over, but it was 0kb.

Android File Transfer doesn't find my oculus device. ADB installed and recognized oculus, Oculus Hub reads my device. every other app I have except for Android File Transfer.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong... I'm on PC, dragging the original .360 files and the converted GoPro Max files (HEVC and H264), the originals obviously don't work. I see the MP4 version and the MOV versions... I click them, then it pops up an 'exploded' 2D file in a window, not a "VR" file. All are in the DCIM folder.

Very nice video. I have been shooting 360 video using an insta360 One X2 in 5.7K, then editing in Adobe Premier Pro and render out at full 5.7K. I then upload and view it on my Oculus Go. I'm debating to get the Quest 2. Do you think the video quality is much better than the Go (not so much for gaming, but for viewing 5.7K 360 videos)? Thanks!

The videos in Insta360 is in insv format and my quest 2 couldn't recognize that format. If I use DeoVR it just making a normal video connecting the margins of the video and giving the feel of a 360 video which is actually not.

Nice video! Been using this method but have instead been putting my movies in the movie folder on the Oculus. This also works well. However I’ve had a slight problem viewing 360 photos. When viewed in the Oculus 2 there is a black line that runs from the nadir to the top of the photo. I don’t think it’s something in the photo itself because I tried putting the photo into a short movie in Premiere Pro and it displays fine. So I think it must be something to do with how the Oculus viewer dislays the photo. I had the original Oculus goggles and it was able to view 360 photos fine with Oculus gallery, but then they discontinued Gallery in the new Oculus 2. Have you come across this and perhaps have a solution?

Hi, I followed your instructions to the letter (rechecked many times) but when I connect my quest 2 to my Mac book Pro nothing happens(I use the usb C to C cable that came with the quest 2) - no quest folder appears on my MacbookPro, just not connecting to my oculus quest 2 and the 'no android device found' window remains open/the same on my MacBook Pro....help me please!!!! Does your method work with the M1 Pro chip running Monterey 12.5?

Found the answer - may help others with similar problem - don't attach the cable to the back of the extended battery headset...you need to unplug the extended battery (part of the headset) from the front side of the goggles/headset, then connect the usb c cable to that front side USB port (then connect the other end to the computer). you need to process the insv/raw files into mp4 files. only mp4 files will play correctly on headset

I have tried using a USB A to USB C cable to my iMac and my Windows laptop in both computers I do not get them to recognize the Oculus Quest 2. There is no drive assigned in Windows and no connection prompt in the headset. On the iMac the Android File transfer does not find the device. You make it look so easy what is wrong?

@@Best360 yes Android File Transfer was installed first. I used a standard USB to USB C cable to my iMac. I also tried it on my HP Laptop with Windows 10. It did not see it as a drive letter. I have ordered some USB to USB C adapters so I can utilize the Oculus cable that came with it just in case it is a cable issue. Thank you for any suggestions.

Use the oculus cable. And I also used the apple official usb a to usb c adapter. It won’t work if you plug the oculus cable directly. Apple dongle is a must

I think it’s because gear360 footage is not stitched straight out of camera? It’s dual fish eye files I think. So you have to stitch the footage first and then upload it to your headset
