Neighbors looking out the window like, wtf is that man doing now?! Side note, if I bought a plastic box like that for $100 and it wasn't water proof I'd send it back!

Lol you have NO idea. I try to do my stuff when everyone is out running errands because if I don't most of the time they come outside to mow their grass, wash their car, etc.

I also made sure it got plenty of sunlight today. 😀

Thank god you posted this!!! I just bought the locks for this storage but I cannot use it properly until I waterproof it.
@Tacomaholic6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was really surprised at how much water gets into these things before waterproofing.

I guess this also means their Emergency First-Aid Pack is not water proof as well. I am glad I seen this video as I was about to order both.

You can use rtv. Run a bead along edges and let it dry without the top closed so it will make a custom o ring shape
@Tacomaholic7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip Drew. How pliable is that stuff once it dries?
@TheMotocross4life7 жыл бұрын
Tacomaholic that's what I'm not to sure about. I know it's silicone so it should be similar to an o ring hopefully. It would be cool to see if it holds shape well because that would be really useful and easy on the eyes
@Tacomaholic7 жыл бұрын
I might have to look into that.

You could just put Vaseline on the other side so it doesn’t stick and just close it too.
@AllTerrainFamily7 жыл бұрын
Could you put the seal on the lid side? Would be less likely to get damaged there. You’re right though. Should come with that for that price.
@Tacomaholic7 жыл бұрын
Yep sure could. I'm thinking about also trying some of the silicone "instant gasket."

Thanks buddy. We are supposed to get some rain here this week so I'll be able to test the seal with real world conditions.

Good solution. 👍👍👍👍 As to Rotopax it is either "bean counter philosophy" or the 7 Ps (Proper Planning and Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance) on their part. or both.😩 Glad you found a good work around. As for the two types used here the "D" type will be the more longer lasting, I think, as the foam will compress and retain the compressed form sooner. Thus lessing the water prevention properitys
@Tacomaholic7 жыл бұрын
I'm a fan of the "D" channel stuff. Works like a charm and easier to work with compared to the square foam.

Hey I checked out the link to your build on tacomaworld. Very nice you've been very busy. I saw that you replaced a lot of your lights, including the interior lights with leds. I was wondering why? I did the same thing to my house, but that's cuz my old lady is always leaving the lights on when she leaves the room, so my electric bill was crazy. Its not to save energy is it? I don't go off roading so I don't know if maybe its something for that, maybe you guys do a lot of stuff when the car isn't running maybe. I was just curious if it would be an advantage for someone like myself, cuz I never thought about it really. Hey, your old lady isn't going out to your truck in the middle of the night and turning your cab light on, is she? Anything to waste our money, amiright?
@Tacomaholic7 жыл бұрын
Hey Brandon! I swapped all of my interior (and most of my exterior) lights for LEDs because I just like the look of the pure white light versus the yellowish of the stock bulbs. LED lights certainly have much less draw on your electrical systems than halogens or incandescent lights and that would be beneficial for the exterior light pods and light bars when offroading/camping to avoid draining the battery.

What are you going to store in there?
@Tacomaholic7 жыл бұрын
Hey buddy, I showed what I had packed in there in the previous vid seen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYa4c4Sbnr5piKs
@Drew40786 жыл бұрын
Oops, I commented before I realized it was for a different storage ha ha ha. How can I waterproof the storage in the bed?
@Tacomaholic6 жыл бұрын
You might be able to do something similar with weatherstripping ... or if that fails a ziplock bag.
@Drew40786 жыл бұрын
@@Tacomaholic ya, I think without weatherstripping those storage boxes are useless. At least for me anyways.
@canyonmannnn Жыл бұрын
come on man get the hose out and wet that thing like it would get in a down poor. it needs to be waterproof at any angle and with more than a trikle.
@TABTheAdventureBound7 жыл бұрын
Thats insane it inst waterproof. Sad
@Tacomaholic7 жыл бұрын
Yessir! To be fair to Rotopax, they never actually say on their website that it is supposed to be waterproof .. but still, it would be nice if it was.
