Awesome video mate. What's an alternative to Yellow Tongue. I'm Just about to do some renovations to my Automotive Detailing shop, I've used yellow tongue before and did noticed it's not waterproof. I did see where you mentioned about putting down cement sheeting. The issue I would have with the cement sheeting is that soon as a vehicle drives on top of the cement sheeting it would crack, this area I'm doing it is an undercover carport that's been inclosed in. I don't wash in this area but the vehicles are dripping wet when bought into this area, I need something that can hold atleast 2ton. What would you recommend? Cheers Marco Victoria Australia

Hi Marco, take a look at James Hardy products and get in contact with them and let them know you need to get 2ton on it, unfortunately we can't do anything structural

I'm trying to get a right answer for this so I can advise my customers. Some website saying it is illegal to use yellow tongue, some website saying it is compliant. I thought red tongue is for bathroom, you thought it is green tongue. 😂 so what is the correct answer?

@@marktran5076 @user-mp4eg1mb9i Hi guys, the correct answer is water-resistant particle board talk to the manufacturers of those products to ensure you are making the correct selection. As for the general use, check specification 26 in NCC 2022 VOL 1 and Housing Provision section 10.2 for NCC 2022 VOL 2. Hope this helps and thanks for watching :)

Great video. Short and informative. I’m trying to get a clear answer on this as some websites mentioned it is illegal to use yellow tongue in bathroom while other saying that it is not recommended but still meet the building code as long as waterproofing is done correctly. Could you able to give me the answer for this in 2024? Is yellow tongue compliant for bathroom flooring in 2024. Really appreciated.

Very informative! What is the best way to seal yelkowtongue without raising the floor level to much? I have vinyl planks and want to continue from hallway into bathroom without any step up.
@GripsetIndustriesPTYLtd2 жыл бұрын
You may be able to waterproof the yellow tongue with 38C, but we also suggest getting in touch with the flooring company and see what they recommend

Just from personal experience, I wouldnt use yellow tongue in wet areas. I am currently in the process of repairing excessive water damage due to the use of yellow tongue throughout the bathroom and laundry floor. Understanding that these days the waterproofing has advanced since the early 90s, but the headache I am dealing with says its just best to use proper wet area flooring like scyon or compressed concrete flooring then waterproof above and below the screed with double flange system.

Thanks we are looking at installing yellow tongue flooring over existing concrete slab to put tiles on top It will be an alfresco area that will be fully enclosed Why does my carpenter need to glue and screw instead of nailing? Just incase he tells me that we don't need to glue and screw
@GripsetIndustriesPTYLtd4 ай бұрын
Hi Patrick, you are best contacting the yellow tongue manufacturer, we suggest confirming if the material is fit for purpose for proposed construction and ask them the best installation method. Hope this can help you!

Great video. I’m planning to have hardwood flooring laid down. However, I have noticed that our yellow tongue substrate is prone to moisture rising from the ground below. I’m about to renovate and don’t want to install a new kitchen and flooring, only for it be ruined by moisture rising up. Can I use your products for this task? Which would be best suited for the task? Many thanks. Malcolm from Sydney Australia

We would recommend to substitute the yellow tongue for something highly moisture resistant i.e. cement sheet, then you could use Gripset E60 to coat the base of the sheets, then apply a sheet membrane. Hope this helps!

A polymer modified cement based adhesive is best to use. Thanks

It is really bad to see the builders lay down yellow tongue in wet areas.
