Such an informative video! But I have a question You said sand and cement do not stick to plastic surfaces even after primer. However, can they adhere to waterproofed surfaces?

How do you put the floor waste ontop of the top leak control flange? Just set it into the pipe and tile and grout it in?

Hi Duck Squash, that method is correct and we would advise to do so! Hope this helps :) Thanks for watching!

I’m wondering how many Plumbers and Tilers know about installing shower floor waste flanges properly? I’m about to retile a bathroom and I’m looking forward to having the conversation about this stuff with the Tiler. Keep up the good work Gripset.

im loving your videos but they are also causing me confusion to the point im not sure what im doing, and neither does my plumber as he does things old school. I Want to install a really LOW rise leak control flange. My shower drain waste pipe is 40mm, the tile insert linear drain is 50mm But its also 50mm in "Tube/connector" height, and in the practice of using a puddle flange for its purpose, wont allow water to pass it due to the way it sits inside the flange. Why dont waste drain pipes have holes at the base to allow any leakage to drain, aswell as the main waste.

Good video. I'm not a fan of those butyl squares (or the butyl tape for corner detailing), they are only good in an ideal world on a new build where you are sticking down to a new perfectly smooth flat surface. Trying to use them in a renovation situation where you have old rough and chipped particleboard or rough concrete is a pain in the ass. You guys must love the over & under waterproofing detail, twice the product sold & used for one job. 😉 I'm a firm believer in picking one method (either over or under) and doing it properly.
@GripsetIndustriesPTYLtd4 жыл бұрын
Hi vzgsxr, surface prep is a critical component to waterproofing applications, it is important to always have a smooth surface when applying product. If substrate is prepared correctly there should be no issues with the application of any Gripset's products, we can provide further details, just shoot us a line at info@gripset.com. In addition it is recommended to replace any damaged particle board in wet areas. As for under & over waterproofing, this is a detail that is being pushed by the building industry to offer greater performance and longevity to home owners and continues to be an option home owners and builders lean to for peace of mind. 100% agree doing it right from surface prep to product application, under or over will meet the minimum standard requirement, but its good to know there's plenty of applicators out there offering the additional service as an option. Thanks again for watching and all your support

If using your Xpress Lay membrane, will I need to use the BW square for the puddle flange?
@GripsetIndustriesPTYLtd9 ай бұрын
Hi SLim, you will not as this will bond to the PVC and you will be able to cut to expose the waste!

@@GripsetIndustriesPTYLtd Thank you. The Xpress Lay membrane has a criss cross pattern on it and I wanted to smooth it out before glueing down the vinyl flooring. Could I use feathering finish, smoothing or leveling compound on the Xpress Lay membrane?
@Mark-fe2fn4 жыл бұрын
At 7:40 you say the issue is achieving the thickness of membrane on the top sceed edge. Isn't that going to be the same for the top puddle flange edge before the waterproofing gets turned down into the flange?. Essentially the same situation, same sort of edge.
@GripsetIndustriesPTYLtd4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, Thanks for watching! The simple answer is no, if you follow Gripsets detail for waterproofing puddle flanges, our options are 1. OP non Porous Primer to SB sealed puddle Flange followed by membrane embedded with RF fabric (the RF reinforces membrane and ensures correct thickness to the down turn edge) 2. BRW PF square adhered directly to flange (no priming required) including downturn followed by coat Gripset liquid membrane(as detailed @ 13:55), again this method guarantees correct even thickness at edge. Membrane thickness to edge is only one of the issues discussed with Flange/Screed set up as shown from 6:00 - 8:00 but its one that can be addressed by the same methods as detailed above, Thanks again, you can find all details on products mentioned above @ www.gripset.com happy waterproofing!

I have a builder coming in to fix a leak in my ensuite where the water is coming under the tiles and into the bedroom, when he lifts the tiles should he place waterproofing over the top of the old waterproofing or pull up the existing waterproofing and replace with new? given the bathroom is only 6 years old since totally renovated should there have been a puddle flange installed (this is an insurance claim).

you under and over screed waterproof a bathroom floor and puddle flange the substrate and the screed. What happens if the over screed waterproof fails and water enters the screed how does it exit if the puddle flanges are sealed one to the other?
@GripsetIndustriesPTYLtd4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, this is the reason we recommend 2 puddle flanges if top membrane fails water will still drain from puddle flange below, flange is designed with leak control feature that should never be sealed, Thanks for watching!
