Thank you for your excellent videos. I have found them very informative, as have many others, based on their comments. Well done. Can I respectfully make a suggestion to make your videos even more informative? Whilst my suggestion may take a little time to construct and may even mean you need to produce an updated version of some of your videos, I am sure the benefits would be obvious. The model would assist in your training programs with waterproofers and tilers as well as those of us who view your videos. As an ex-teacher I suggest you make a cut away model showing various scenarios. By being able to SEE an example of what you are talking about your verbal explanation will be so much easier to understand. In the case of the double puddle flange over and under system we would be able to see, for example, an upper level timber floor covered with FC sheeting. The puddle flange would be seen recessed into the FC sheet. A layer of Grip-Set butyl rubber would cover the joint between the flange and the FC sheet. A layer of mortar would be applied over the rubber. Recessed into that mortar would be a SCREW TYPE PUDDLE FLANGE to enable the finished height of the flange to be adjusted to suit the thickness of the mortar bed at the shower/floor drain. On top of that would be the layer of waterproofing. I hope you take this suggestion in the spirit in which it is offered. An already excellent series of videos would become so much better. Best wishes to you and Shandy, the other presenter I saw on one of your videos.

Hi Paul, we've sent this through to our technical team who organises the construction. We think it's a great idea and appreciate the time to put forth your feedback! Thanks for watching and for your insight! Happy waterproofing!

Love your videos. I was hoping this vid would answer my question but it doesn't quite do so. I understand the sloped screed helps the main surface water to flow to the drain quickly. Assuming only waterproofing underneath screed only. If the waterproofed underlay in a shower / wet area bathroom is flat, how does the water move towards the sunken puddle flange? Eg If water goes through the grout and into the screed in a room corner 2-3 metres from a puddle flange, it's now sitting on a flat waterproof membrane, is it purely dispersion and osmosis that gets it to the puddle flange? Seems like a lot of water will simply sit there in the porous screed over time.

Hi Carazy, Thanks! We love Permaculture! The floor membrane is applied to should always have fall to drain, this is a minimum requirement of the Australian standards and important for all the reasons you have pointed out. Thanks for the support!

Awesome info guys. In a scenario where you waterproof under an over the bed and are using a strip drain and cant incorporate the second puddle flange because the bottom of the drain sits below the top of the bedding how would you go about finishing the waterproofing around the puddle flange so that in a scenario where the above water proofing fails the water can still drain out of the bedding? Excellent content just subcribed to the channel 👍🏼

Hi Rheyen, take a look here www.creativedrainsolutions.com.au/files/Tile-Surround-Installation-Guide.pdf . If you spend some time researching online, you will be able to find a suitable drainage product that will allow for both drainage top and bottom of screed! :)

With the over and under method, once puddle flange is installed as well as the rubber sheet on top, is it okay to still water proof the fc floor and over the rubber sheet into the puddle flange?
@GripsetIndustriesPTYLtd Жыл бұрын
Hi Five pot, assuming the rubber you're referring to is the BRW-PF Square or PFN sheet, then the answer is yes! Always refer to the Australian Standard application details. Thanks for watching and your support! :)

Thank you for the video. However, unfortunately, one puddle flange popped into another one creates a very 'high' puddle flange and means that final floor heights would be too high in most bathroom situations. I have exhausted efforts to find a specific 'double' puddle flange that is designed to be 'low' but to no avail. If anyone knows of one or IF GRIPSET COULD DESIGN AND MAKE ONE I think the issue would finally be solved and would be grateful to hear about it. Cheers all.

Question. If I have a puddle flange jammed into the puddle flange below how does water in the screed get through the top puddle flange and into the drain. Thanks.
@GripsetIndustriesPTYLtd4 жыл бұрын
Hi Richard, you can connect the top and bottom flange with a connector correctly and this will allow the water to flow through to the bottom pipe. If you would like more details feel free to share you contact number and we can call you to discuss further. Thanks

Could not agree more with your video. I find putting 2 puddle flanges a problem in a shower situation as I usually only have around 20mm screed in the shower waste area which does not allow enough room for the height of a standard puddle flange. Do you have any advice on this or type of puddle flange that will work
@GripsetIndustriesPTYLtd5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your inquiry. Yes, we can recommend a "screw top " style puddle flange, these we find are usually flush without a rebate. If you have any other questions please feel free to contact our technical support on 1800 650 435

Waterproofing above and below the screed is completely unnecessary and a waste of time materials. Pick one mehtod, either above or below and do it properly.
@GripsetIndustriesPTYLtd4 жыл бұрын
Hi vzgsxr, Under, over waterproofing is becoming increasingly popular from architects and specifiers alike, waterproofing above or below screed only is acceptable practice, but under- over offers many advantages including greater performance with twice the piece of mind and extended warranties. Thanks again.
